Hey everyone I am gonna say this as nice as possible…. I have been reading and removing comments about the quality of food and where it was bought. There are people who struggle everyday in the ability to feed their families, and for some to come on here and bash and shame this video is sad. How about we be kind humans and encourage others to feed their families by whatever means they can. It makes you sound hoity toity, pretentious and condescending. There’s no shame in the game if a belly is full and a family is happy. Let others be. Stop shaming.
As a black man who grew up in the inner city, your video actually brought a tear to my eye- so many people have suffered these last 4 years ( I know people who are working that are living in their cars just to get by) You took what can barely cover a big mac combos meal and fed a family. I'm gonna donate this year to my local food bank and I wrote down your video info as instructions. Thank you

I was thinking the same thing.... Something new and different! You did an awesome job with items from the dollar tree! I love the fact that you added the meat to your green beans❣️❣️
I grew up poor as hell, this is a good dinner. Doesn't matter where you got it, if you can feed 8 people for $20 that's incredible and something more people should try. Humility is a rare trait
Thank you! My husband died 4 months age. I’m having trouble eating and cooking alone. I was gonna skip Thanksgiving this year. This video gave me encouragement; and maybe I can do it for $10.

Yes doing for one person is the most difficult..I pray someone will invite you over on Thanksgiving. That is what the holiday is for..thanking God for looking out for us all!
There was someone on Facebook awhile back that was upset over how to feed her family. Rather than offering sympathy I look to the positive. I told her I started shopping more at the Dollar tree for food. I compared prices everywhere and found I could really stock my pantry. She loved the idea.
Hi I’m a single father of 3 and this really brought happiness and joy back into me at first I was just gonna buy a value meal from McDonald’s so it doesn’t seem so bad to the kids but after seeing this video you gave me ideas on how to improvise. It hurts the soul when you can join in the festive because of money but you’re showing us we still can even if we can’t afford a whole turkey and all the other things. My kids will still have a good thanksgiving because of you , thank you
@@Fancycent have you checked in your area for any place giving out free uncooked turkey or ham meals. My area has alot and they don't ask questions just how many ppl they gone everything for the meal even dessert
Our pantry offers free turkeys and a small bag filled with your essentials for Thanksgiving. Very greatful for the help I got for years! This should be my first year I can afford to have my very own Thanksgiving without help ❤
You don’t know how important this is that you make this and show it as an option for people. I didn’t think I was going to be able to make Thanksgiving dinner for my family but I am going to recreate this for my family. Thank you!
@@mollyanonymous925 you don’t need dollar tree . During thanksgiving all the popular foods go on sale for really cheap , even cheaper than dollar tree ! Canned turkey is awful! I’ve seen $4 turkeys at Aldi and .79 cent a pound turkeys at other stores no need for canned stuff
I am 50. When i was in elementary school they made us "cowboy hats". We all loved it, my kids grew up loving it. It is nothing but fried bologna (fried till the sides flip up from the center a little) with an ice cream scooper full of instant mashed potatos right in the center so it looks like a hat. Add catsup and you have a few dollar hot meal the kids love.
When I was a teenager my stepdad threw me out of the house. So I got an efficiency cabin, had a job as a busgirl, an old car, and went to school. One of the things I cooked for dinner was white rice cooked in any kind of canned broth. Once it was cooked, I melted a slice of cheese over it. And that worked with ramen noodles, too. Sometimes I still cook these things to remind myself where I came from. Also it still tastes good. ❤
Seeing your sons made me start crying so much. My only son passed on 8/30/24. This is going to be the first holiday season without him and I’m not looking forward to it. I miss him so much. RIP Michael ♥️ Forever 25
As you make this i can't help but get teary eyed...because you're a God sent to so many right now in the world who can't afford Thanksgiving dinner for their family. May you be blessed daily for all your help in this financial crisis for many🥹🙏
This is so beautiful. I don’t understand why anyone would hate on you. What you’re doing is helping millions of family on a budget in need. You go girl ! Proud of you. Dollar tree has good stuff
Sorry for your loss. If you were interesting there are pantries that could use help to make and feed people in need for the holidays. Some find that a way to help those in need and meet others.

My mom was always impressed when she saw nothing in the pantry, and then my dad would take what little was there and make a meal out of it. They came from opposite sides of the tracks, and my grandma (widow w/ 7 children) taught my dad how to "make a nickel to a dollar's worth of work" ! Great job, lady!
Me too! I think my kids ate better meals when I had to get creative and whip something up with little to work with. At least, that's how we felt. Maybe we were just so appreciative to be fed 😊.
Girl!!!! I’m literally contemplating doing this for Thanksgiving! I’m not joking! I’ve been making Thanksgiving dinner for 37 years and I’m tired 😂😂 This was a winner winner 💯💯
I'm taking the year off hosting 10+ as it's just husband and myself this year. I'm relieved to be honest😅 I think this menu is perfect for us to have some yummy leftovers or some extra for a friend who may need a meal. Without exhausting me in the process!

Happy Thanksgiving y'all 🦃
The fact that someone will still make a small budget to make thanksgiving for their family is a blessing in my book❤️ the struggle is real for a lot of people, the memories matter not the price tag
My husband lost his job in August and you've given us an affordable option for Christmas (we're Canadian, so Thanksgiving has already passed). God bless you and your family for the work you do to help others. 🥰
I’m sorry to hear your family situation. I hope he finds work soon. The price of food here in Canada is unreal and we need all the help we can. I hope your Christmas is blessed and your future brightens.
I love your accent and with fine people like you, America is already great again. Our country has always come together during hard times. There is a RUclips video about the Great Depression meals. Your Thanksgiving frugal dinner is what Americans are famous for - resourcefulness, faith and hope. You’ve inspired me to try the turkey stuffing balls!
So many people are struggling with food insecurity. You proove that its possible to feed your family a delicious meal wven on a budget. God bless you and your beautiful family Brooke❤
I don’t know why anyone would complain about the quality of the food. That brand of mashed potatoes is sold everywhere and I use them all the time. The green beans as well and they are also delicious. The stuffing is the same as you would get as a known brand, probably made at the same facility. I would eat this dinner and be thankful to have it. Some people have never had to struggle and that’s the problem. I was a single mom of three kids and sometimes had to go to the church food pantry. You learn to make something out of nothing sometimes and are thankful to get it. This meal looks delicious and thank you for sharing your ideas.
You are absolutely right. I worked in a factory many years ago. They made the same items for different companies then put their company logos on them. That is often how it works.
Pretty much every thing she used was a name brand, or a generic that is just as high quality as any typical store brand. Personally I would have made a tweak or two, and found a way to include a can of cranberry sauce, but she did a really great job. And the best part of all, was that not only was this meal really cheap, it was also VERY accessible for someone who has limited access to kitchen gear/fridge space, as well as being very accessible to someone who has no kitchen skills or is disabled. Personally, I am one hell of a good cook, but I am also currently disabled and on chemo. This entire meal of recipes is at a level that could be prepared by someone with very low stamina, or even easily delgated to a helper/child of ~8+yo while supervising and directing from a seat at the table if absolutely needed (or they just wanted to help). This is also a good menu for someone who has to work over the holiday, or can't make it home to be with family and doesn't want a lot of leftovers to deal with. The quantities shown would easily make 4-6 hearty-sized meals to take to work.
@@Jennie-kb4ug I'm sorry to hear that you have cancer. I will pray for your quick recovery. Yes, Dollar Tree has many brand name items and many of their unknown brands are good as well. I do stay away from a few of their unknown brands because I tried them and they weren't good. You have to experiment to see which unknown brands are good and which are not.
True story - worked at a 4 star restaurant ~ they bought alot of their food stuffs from Dollar Tree. Quality was better than Sysco 😉👍🏻and not insanely priced.
This is a dinner I would feed my family being on a budget. I remember when I was growing up my mom would make dinner out of anything she was able to get her hands on and we never went to bed without having dinner. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes on a $20 budget. Your children are so sweet 👍🏼🌻💖 🥘
You did an excellent job! When my late husband was terminally ill and I was chronically ill we found ourselves living in a hotel with our 2 daughters as I tried transitioning from being a stay at home mom to a first time breadwinner with no skills during COVID. If it wasn't for Dollar Tree we couldn't have survived. Good memories of God making a way for us ❤️ Thanks for sharing! 😊
This is what call ghetto/hood cooking, and I love it. Do your thing sis. I grew up the same way in Brooklyn, my mom took care of us (3 boys), the best she can and dinners were special. She could make a stick to ya ribs meal on a budget and we ate every bit. This brings back memories. Keep doing your thing and dont worry about what many of these 'judgey' clowns wanna say while im sure they themselves grew up just as poor as we did but acting like theyre upper crust.
@CannabaeCG My friends and I used to do "ghetto friendsgiving" and it was the best. Turkey loaf, instant mashed potatoes with gravy from a jar, Stove Top, canned corn, biscuits or croissant rolls, and maybe green bean casserole if we were feeling fancy. Everyone chipped in and it was delicious. Some of my favorite holiday memories. 💕
What I love most about this, is that there are people who aren’t frugal who waste all of their money and still can’t come up with $20 and put forth the time and effort to make their children a hot meal. You did a great job! The beans looked amazing ❤️
Funny thing is I've tried to give food away that is "Sell By" and no one will take it. I feed $15.00 frozen steaks to the racoons & had to throw hundreds of dollars worth of food in the garbage, I just couldn't eat al of it. All those dates mean is the brand say's it "might" lose it's taste or strength. Canned chicken lasts for years. Pantry foods. When you buy flour put it immediately into your freezer to kill off, and bugs. The government allows for a % of bugs ect in foods.
You are amazing! Not only are you showing so many people that you can actually pull together a great holiday meal on a very small budget, but you get creative with it and pour so much love into it! God bless you & your amazing family! So cool!
I don’t see anything wrong with this meal at all. What an amazing mama. My grandmother was amazing at improvising as she grew up during the Great Depression. God bless
Me and my family almost didn’t have a thanksgiving this year because of some struggles. Thanks to my grandmother and mother they made it happen even when they struggled. We helped them cook and we had a good time it doesn’t matter what brand or what you cook as long as you have something that’s all that matters and your family will still be full and happy. I’m so glad we helped them cook this year that was out of appreciation!!!!!!
You remind me of one of my coworkers who was also from Tennessee. She was widowed quite young and single-handedly raised four children on a decent-paying job. And she shops exclusively at Aldi and Dollar Tree and she can make the most delicious meals out of the most inexpensive ingredients.
Aldi is terrific! I shop there and load up on so many great things at decent prices---really helps this elderly woman's food budget immensely. I shop at Dollar Tree, too, because they have quite a few things I can stock my pantry with for a great price.
I went from "no way" to "WOW" in 20 minutes. Very impressive and creative when you're on a tight budget...or even when you're not on a tight budget. The family was appreciative and complimentary of the chef, too. That's always a nice bonus.
That was my initial reaction as well. I had it on simply while working on something else - not even sure why YT recommended it sicne I don't watch many cooking videos. So, out of one eye I had that one while doing something else, but when she started on the veggies - I was intrigued....the pie had gotten me interested, but the veggies...impressed.
I truly think this is wonderful and I don't understand why anyone would be hateful towards this content. The world is getting harder and harder to live in, especially for those who are in lower class or straight up poor/homeless. For $20, you made a fantastic dinner that could feed an entire family. We need more content like this, to help those who are not as fortunate that they can still have a lovely Thanksgiving or holiday dinner on a budget! This looks delicious and thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! ♥

Strange but true. As a kid I thought government peanut butter and Kayro syrup mixed in an old metal ice tray after removing the metal sectioning part. Then frozen was homemade candy. Me and my brothers made it up. All our friends thought we were the bomb. As an adult cooking was always my game.

I think you did a fantastic job!!!! I was flabbergasted when you actually found enough food items at Dollar Tree to make a meal that looked like an actual holiday dinner!!! GOOD JOB!!!
I know this very well. After losing my corporate finance job in 2006, it's been a true struggle, it was only me so losing income was a nightmare, the dollar tree was a big help during that time.😢😢 I am now on my feet financially and am blessed 😊 thank you for your care and support for everyone trying to feed their families and their selves😊😊
I grew up in a dirt poor family (that fortunately has been blessed with financial security since then), and this video is perfection. We would have to strategize how specific dollars got spent at the dollar store to make sure everybody was fed. There was NO extra money for wiggle room. If people criticize this, it's because they have never been anywhere close to struggling just to pay for their next meal.
When I was little back in the 1950s my dad was a carpenter. When it rained he couldn’t work. We went through many days when all we had was beans and rice or cornbread to eat. If we had meat , my dad ate it. He had a hard physical job. My dad made a garden and we had chickens. We didn’t starve but we didn’t waste food either. I admire this lady for showing us how to feed a family on a strict budget. Our representatives and congressmen should watch h this show to see how a great majority of our citizens have to make a dollar stretch from paycheck to paycheck. Please keep showing us how to make a dollar go further. Great job. Thank you👍👍👍👍

What a beautiful video. Thank you for actually cooking the items and showing that it truly works. I hope this can be a blessing to so many who need it.
What a lovely idea for a video. Social media is full of people who want everyone to believe that they're leading unachievable, unrealistic lifestyles -- you are doing the complete opposite of that, which is very refreshing! PS: Those turkey stuffing balls look amazing!
My mother survived starvation in a work camp. She would have loved this Dollar Tree meal, which Momma made with creativity and love, and for only $20! I remember our Thanksgiving dinners where potato pancakes and stuffed cabbages (made for a few dollars) were the stars of the show. I adored them and never felt deprived. We never ate out, as my parents saved to send their kids to college. To the shamers: please understand that many families eat well and within a budget. I have subscribed and rang the bell -- Momma is a Rock Star!
I don't have a family (just my husband and myself) but I am always drawn to these types of videos. I love that you do them from a place of sharing and education. Not putting anyone down or shaming. Fed is best! We say it about babies but then forget about it when it comes to adults

My family’s Thanksgivings are big…usually 40-45 people and I make the mashed potatoes. Always a chore because I have to prepare 20 pounds, ugh. About 10 years ago I got smart. Not gonna lie, i did not have high hopes for this video, but i actually found it very comforting to watch you cook. Nothing fancy, just a simple meal for your family and your positive attitude is quite infectious. It brought a smile to my face. It's obvious that your family loves you as much as you love them. It's sad that people have been leaving negative comments on this video. Obviously, those people don't know what it means to struggle to financially support their families. Good for you
There was someone on Facebook awhile back that was upset over how to feed her family. Rather than offering sympathy I look to the positive. I told her I started shopping more at the Dollar tree for food. I compared prices everywhere and found I could really stock my pantry. She loved the idea.
Yes indeed

Hi I’m a single father of 3 and this really brought happiness and joy back into me at first I was just gonna buy a value meal from McDonald’s so it doesn’t seem so bad to the kids but after seeing this video you gave me ideas on how to improvise. It hurts the soul when you can join in the festive because of money but you’re showing us we still can even if we can’t afford a whole turkey and all the other things. A little imagination goes a long way. I might do the stuffing balls but I think I’ll use a rotisserie chicken. I don’t like turkey or canned chicken.
Try catholic charities or the salvation army
@@mollyanonymous925 you don’t need dollar tree . During thanksgiving all the popular foods go on sale for really cheap , even cheaper than dollar tree ! Canned turkey is awful! I’ve seen $4 turkeys at Aldi and .79 cent a pound turkeys at other stores no need for canned stuff
It may be an option, but other than the tin beans, it's a very bad for your health option.
Same hun!
Now that was worth a watch! It's unheard of to feed an entire family on $20.00. You've outdone yourself. Bravo!
I suggest you get 6 cans of turkey that will be enough for a family of 4 people also I'm thinking of making the chocolate oreo pie for Christmas
I agree, this video gives people hope!
Right! I think she did a fantastic job!
It's cancer, though. These are cancer foods
You obviously did good
Seeing your sons made me start crying so much. My only son passed on 8/30/24. This is going to be the first holiday season without him and I’m not looking forward to it. I miss him so much. RIP Michael ♥️ Forever 25

Exactly, this how someone special to me feeds her kids and I adore her for all of it.
What I love most about this, is that there are people who aren’t frugal who waste all of their money and still can’t come up with $20 and put forth the time and effort to make their children a hot meal. You did a great job! The beans looked amazing ❤️
Thanks for reminding me about bad parents. That's a downer.
I LOVE Glory brand products. 🙂👍

Aldi has some great deals 😊

I grew up in a dirt poor family (that fortunately has been blessed with financial security since then), and this video is perfection.
We would have to strategize how specific dollars got spent at the dollar store to make sure everybody was fed. There was NO extra money for wiggle room.
If people criticize this, it's because they have never been anywhere close to struggling just to pay for their next meal.
When I was little back in the 1950s my dad was a carpenter. When it rained he couldn’t work. We went through many days when all we had was beans and rice or cornbread to eat. What a beautiful meal made with love. Your family is happy and fed. Anyone who is complaining about where it came from needs to take a step back from spewing negativity into the world. Your video is a blessing to everyone, it helps so many of us looking for ways to feed our families on a very tight budget. ❤
Your boys and husband are so sweet. I love seeing them enjoy what you have prepared. You did an awesome job with a 20 dollar budget.
My family didn't have a lot when i was growing up, but my siblings and i never felt poor because my parents always did the best they could with what little they had and i can't tell you how much i appreciate that now as an adult. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family ❤.
Thanksgiving is all about being thankful to God for what you have. Having a good meal like this for so cheap is great! There are lots of people who would feel very happy to have it. Looks great!
I made the stuffing balls and green beans and they were great, no leftovers and I made quite a lot !
The stuffing balls I did add boiled eggs simply because it's a personal preference, and added a can of cream of chicken soup but everything else was the same.
I was a single mom raising 3 kids, and its incredible how i was able to create simple meals on a strict budget that my kids still have memories of loving the " throwed-togethers", never an empty stomach 😊
My heart goes out to you. I was a single parent of three. Your kids will grow up to be resourceful because they have to learn how. Mine are all doing well as adults. God bless you
I love you, Brooke. I am 44 years old and I am a bartender, my wife is a realtor. We follow all your recipes. We have the means sometimes and at times we don’t. I humble myself and I also spread the word on these ideas. I comment here and there but sending you all the love from tulsa, ok. Love you and the boys all day. God blesssssss ❤
Love this and bless your family!
If you know how to cook and on a budget, this is the way to go, i buy a lot of good things to make a meal, from dollar tree, dollar general, food is food so be thankful to the good Lord ❤❤😊😊
I love this! Years ago when my son was small there were times we didn't have groceries and I definitely couldn't pull off holiday dinners. This type of content would have been perfect for me. I have since been very blessed by God with security. What you are doing here is amazing. I am going to try the turkey stuffing balls this year myself!! So many people are hurting and struggling this year. What a blessing you are!!
Brooke...I am a widow and this would be perfect meal for me...thank you so much for al! Your hard work!!!

Beautiful! Your wonderful family is so appreciative! I am a single woman, a nurse who works usually on Thanksgiving. One year, my patient's family sent me home with a plate...It reminded me of this same meal. I had no hot meal waiting on me otherwise (but as a singleton, you just eat whatever lol). I would gladly eat your food too, God bless you & your family, a lot of love here!
Well, that was absolutely brilliant! We’re vegetarian, but I can still appreciate the orchestration of this, and the ingenious use of materials at hand. Thank you for the ideas!
When you poor as a lot of people are today, you do what you gotta do. You did a fine job of making work with what you got. I live in poverty myself and struggle every day to feed my family of four. You are a Godsend to those of us who know what it's like. Thank you and God bless you and your family.
Ive been worrying about what to do this thanksgiving. And now i have amazing ideas thanks to your creativity in getting a meal on the table for your beautiful family. Ive had to do this before as well and they are meals to truly be grateful for.
Love love love how your budget videos mention the pre-tax! Very helpful ❤
