I'm always impressed with the level of detail, even on such an old, cheap car. The trouble is, every time I watch one of your videos I want to go out and clean my car straight away. Day or night. Thanks for your inspiration. I love the vids. Cheers.
Alex Barlow indeed, but remember that these old seats are far more comfortable than the new fancy one that are hard as rock and just cool to look at them but not to seat in . 👍
That's not even half as 90's as some smaller hatchbacks from that era. I'm talking all blue fabric with pink and yellow swirls and what not. It's a real eye-sore.
Enjoying the fact that you are working on a variety of cars. Nice to see a real world scenario. Might sound a bit odd but I use Cif on firm plastic trim. It works well when agitated with a brush and when dried and wiped over, it leaves a satin matt finish. Thanks for the time and effort put into the videos.
my brethren from across the pond, thank you so much for thoroughly detailing (not planned) the process and the specifics of the cleaning agents and tools you used for each step; I TOO HAVE A MOLDY MITSU!! My Evo X (project car) was sitting in the garage for a while and we're about to get it road-ready again but not before I get rid of some of the mold in the upholstery. I was gonna take a heat gun to the upholstery (still might to be extra cautious to kill what may lurk beneath the surface--word is 140-degrees Fahrenheit does the job and the melting point of materials like cotton, polyester, and nylons are well into the 400-ranges, so it can't hurt to bake it around 160-degrees F) but the added measure of the enzyme-based biological cleaner gives me lotsa confidence the mold won't return. very good upload--super useful info.!!
Biobrisk. Great stuff. Use it when the kids have spewed the carpet. After washing the carpet with the bissell I spray Biobrisk on and just leave it. Residual odour gone in a couple of days.
These hand cleaning methods certainly work very well. Having two children, the rear seats of both cars take a battering. While cleaning my Wife's car yesterday, I was tempted to wheel out the faithful VAX to wash the rear seats but opted to use some elbow grease, upholstery cleaner and the vacuum. The results were far better than I would have imagined, and probably better than they would have been with the VAX.
Mould spores can be quit dangerous, in particular when breathed in. Only advice i would give when showing some thing like this is to wear a suitable mask. Other wise another good Vid
G Crockford I used to have a 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan that had tons of green and black molds in it but they were all under the seat so for years I never new they were there so my health was deteriorated. I’m pretty sure the mold grew on old cigarettes that fell under the seat, my 4 children dropping food everywhere, and how one of the rear pop up windows was permanently stuck open.
@@juljasmaharchive can i ask how youre health deteriorated? And how much time did it take til you realized something was wrong with your health? Symptoms? I just discovered a lot of mold under the floor mat of my passenger side, alot of white mold all over the area of the rug. The rug of the car had the carpet ontop of it and ontop of the carpet was my floor mat and id notice one time the floor mad looked wet and i was confused. It wasnt til i decided to give my car my own home car wash and removed the carpet is when i noticed all the mold on the rug of the car and freaked out. I just bought this car months ago and i have no idea how long i have been breathing this in but im a bit alarmed. If you could give me some words of your experience id highly appreciate it!
great video mate, like ive done in the past after 17 years of doing this valet job as long as you pre wet the mould plenty like you did, then you wont breath in the mould spores when you agitate / disturb them as theyre saturated with the g101 so they cant travel in the air, so hence no dust mask needed.
cool. this one and the Bentley video are my favorite. I like seeing a big difference in before and after more than seeing supercars or sports cars get a bath
Really appreciate the upload . My car sat for 9 months and the back seats has some mould so I really wanted to know the method to safely remove the mould and not jjust make it look clean . Thank you .
Neat idea with the APC and mold-killer. I'd like to see some carpet deep cleaning, I've used a lot of your methods to clean the rest of my car with amazing results, but my carpet desperately needs attention. Maybe a video on that? :D If for some reason my car and I are ever in the UK, I'll be sure to look you up and give you some business! I'd even pay you a few quid to let me help and learn.
Great video and about to follow along exactly to remove mold in a 12 year old vehicle I just acquired....hopefully I have as good a result as you did here. I hardly think this vehicle qualifies as an "old beater"; I think of 1970 pinto or some other cap car as an old beater lol. Nevertheless thank you for the video.....very useful.
this job you have mad it hard , all you need is the mould remover and prespray and brush the entire seat as mould can build on the front , back and headliner is left unatended. I would highly recommend paying a couple hundred pounds on a detail sealey carpet cleaner as the hand tools and attachments would make your job extremely easier and use a head gun at a height to dry.
Vinegar scrub and vacuum. If possible put a box fan inside vehicle to air dry 24 hours. Any trapped moisture under seats carpets for example will just allow it to occur again.
great video! just curious. A friend of mine has the same issue with his car. My concern was that the mold may be on the floor underneath the seat, and their could be a risk of them coming back. Should he just re-upholster the car? Or try and fix it. I hope you can help! He loves the car but doesn't know if the work needed to be put in, is worth it. Thanks!
So I did mine just a week ago and so far, so good. This tutorial is good, it's just that use a mask and cover up really good. I didn't use a mask but still rather safe than sorry. I read that vinegar works just as well as bio cleaner but you have to wait about an hour for it to fully kill. I used tilex mold and mildew with bleach, carpets wasn't stained. Anybody else with good tips please share.
CCG, you should buy a tired and grubby looking car from Gumtree (running, with MOT, etc) for no more than £300. Do a video of a thorough cleaning, paint cut/polish and then sell it on to see how much money you can effectively clean into a car.
Why didn't you just use the pressure washer? Joking, great video. I appreciate the info and will need to utilize it on a couple of vehicles. I wish we had that BioBrisk in the US. I'm sure there is something that I could use but I haven't found a mold-killer that is automotive related yet.
Thanks for this. Do you have any tips for getting rid of dog smells? The previous car owners had a dog, and they must have let it in the car when the dog was wet as the smell is pretty bad!
Great video, thanks for sharing your expertise! Just wondering if you have any advice about how to permanently remove white powder mould from cloth seats? The mould was caused when the seat was cleaned and left damp for a week or so in winter. We've had it professionally cleaned twice but each winter the powder mould keeps coming back. Cheers, Dave.
This is awesome! I have a car that's a bit more moldy and now I know how to attack it properly. Do they sell that Bio stuff here in the states? Great video!
Any suggestions for a rear leather seat bench that's been submerged in water? The foams soaked it right up, whole car smells very musky. Not sure if I can save it, it's a beige/cream leather in a Rover 75. Seats not over filthy but I'm genuinely not sure how to tackle removing that much water and getting the smell out the foam too. Was a good 2 inches deep of water when I pulled the base out :(

Is that one of the Beatles cleaning cars now? A better way of getting out the cat pee smell form mould is mix vinegar 2/3 and water 1/3 spary and scrub then douse the whole interior with baking soda brush into the fabric and carpet let sit for a few hours then vac out. finish with a disinfectant spray like lysol and then a fabric spray like fabrise.
CCG a neighbour has asked me to look at her MX-5 soft top that looks a lot like this, contamination is pretty bad. Was going to let it soak with apc then jet wash off before going back over with a household mould & mildew remover, agitating where necessary before again jet washing off. Obviously the rag top fabric is pretty heavy duty but do you think it will be ok with the household cleaner, want to make sure it kills all the nasties to prevent it coming back again?
+Car Cleaning Guru my first thought was that it wasn't mould, more likely to be lichen, but on closer inspection it does have the white spores very much like the stuff you had on that seat. The green stuff may still be lichen but there is definitely something funky living in there. Will give it a blast and see what happens, my only worry was having an adverse effect on the materials waterproofing but I think its past that point already. Cheers top bloke.
+Car Cleaning Guru what can I say I'm a sucker for a damsel in distress, especially ones that wear short skirts and drive 2 seater convertible sports cars
Would any bio enzyme cleaner work? After being unable to drive for a year my car has grown mould in the carpets and slightly on the seats, I was looking at Craftex bio enzyme spray with the description "An enzyme digester in liquid form for use as a pre-spray carpet spot and stain remover for blood, grease, food, egg, mayonnaise, protein stains and bad odours. Comes in a ready to use 500ml trigger spray bottle.". Does the enzyme cleaner prevent regrowth or would the mould likely be underneath the seat fabric too?

A question if I may. Do all of your cloths, towels and brushes have a specific use, or once they have been washed can they be used for other things? E.g. the detailing brush used on the steering wheel with the APC, would you then wash and use with shampoo when washing the car or would you only ever use this brush with the APC?
My car is just sitting and not running atm I want to get it cleaned it is starting to get the same mold look on the seatbelts n the whole inside is starting to smell I do open the doors here n there is there anything i can do to get this stuff from spreading

Car Cleaning Guru Haha fair enough :) I use a Henry for vacuuming and keep they George purely for wetvac :) Anyway nice work you're a good inspiration!
What do you do about the mold in the ventilator system? And what about the foam cushion of the seat? Don’t you think the mold went through the fabric and into the cushion? There are many people who are allergic to mold and need to know how to REALLY remove all of the mold, in addition to the obvious surface mold. I bought a 2015 vehicle that has black mold “somewhere” in it and just driving it the 20 minutes to work and back is activating my mold allergy. I was hoping for a video that showed how to find, clean and clear a vehicle of mold so that I don’t have to get rid of my very new but not completely new vehicle.
Out of interest, could you use a steam cleaner with a microfibre cloth over the nozzle for the same purpose? In theory the temperature of the steam should kill the mould whilst also releasing it and allowing the mf cloth to lift it off the surface?
+Car Cleaning Guru Brilliant, thanks. Sister left the rear windows open on her 107 so the boot and rear seats had their own little ecosystem going on - she just scrubbed it with Dettox but I might (or suggest to) run over it with the steam cleaner to give it a bit of a deeper clean. Thanks for the vids though, keep them up! I'm fairly new to detailing (only had first car for four months) but I've learned a lot from here :)
I'm always impressed with the level of detail, even on such an old, cheap car. The trouble is, every time I watch one of your videos I want to go out and clean my car straight away. Day or night. Thanks for your inspiration. I love the vids. Cheers.

The description of this car and it's contaminants were described almost as if it was poetry. Beautiful!

That seat fabric is SO 90s. Painfully so. Makes me feel like I'm on an old coach bus.

Louie Watson, I totally agree. I've seriously considered restoring a 90's car instead of getting a new one. Modern cars suck, by and large.
Even if they have that feeling when they are done they are super clean
Ahhh, G101. Couldn't survive without it! Best APC out there as long as you know what you're doing with it. Bloody amazing what it will clean.

I was hoping for a video that showed how to find, clean and clear a vehicle of mold so that I don’t have to get rid of my very new but not completely new vehicle.
Great video. i like watching ur videos they teach me a lot when it comes to detailing. Thanks
Would g101 at 1:10 be ok for vinyl plastics and leather
Yes it's litterly all purpose. be carefull on the body work when neat.
Would undiluted white vinegar have worked?
Love the videos! Can you tell me what cameras you use please?.
+Joshua Burkett A Canon HFG30 and and GoPro.
+Car Cleaning Guru thank you
Out of interest, could you use a steam cleaner with a microfibre cloth over the nozzle for the same purpose? In theory the temperature of the steam should kill the mould whilst also releasing it and allowing the mf cloth to lift it off the surface?
+Cookeh Yes, definitely!
