Now that you have all your tools and materials ready, let's get rid of that awful smell...
Step numero uno: We're gonna empty that fridge. That's right, get everything out of there. Why? So we can get into all the nooks and crannies, and more importantly, prevent your food from mingling with the cleaning solution. Now, remember, don't just throw your food around the kitchen-store it properly in a cooler or another part of the kitchen while we're dealing with the stench. Got it all out? Great!
Now onto our secret weapon: vinegar. Not just a salad dressing, folks. We're mixing equal parts water and white vinegar here. Why vinegar, you ask? Well, it's got a secret life as a natural odor neutralizer and it can take out pretty much any smell. Oh, and it's a natural disinfectant too, so it's gonna nix any bacteria adding to the stinkfest.
Alright, we've got our magic potion. Now it's time to get scrubbing! Dip a cloth or sponge in that vinegar solution and get to work. Cover every inch of your fridge: shelves, walls, door, and don't forget those corners! And if your sponge is looking grimy, rinse and repeat!
Still smelling fishy? Well, we may need to do this all over again, guys. If the smell is being a tough customer, amp up your vinegar ratio in the solution or bring in the big guns: bleach. Remember, if you're using bleach, mix half a cup of bleach with a gallon of water.
Phew, we've scrubbed and cleaned! But we're not done yet. It's time to dry that fridge thoroughly. Any leftover moisture could allow bacteria to party, and we don't want that, do we? So grab a clean towel, wipe it down, and let the door hang open for a bit to let any sneaky moisture evaporate.
Okay, final round. Let's bring in some reinforcements: activated charcoal or baking soda. These guys are great odor absorbers. Just pop a bowl of charcoal or a box of baking soda in there. Leave it in for a few days, replace as needed, and remember to keep that fridge door closed as much as possible.
And just like that, you've banished the fish smell! How's that for a clean sweep?
