Andrea, help!!!! Our fridge was shut off by accident and we were away, meat spoiled ( we have removed it) smell is the worst thing ever!) I gagged, removed meat only thing in fridge, threw and open box of baking soda in and slammed door. It is a small fridge with freezer on top. HELP!!! It’s a fridge in a camper ( Artic King 3.2cubic fridge freezer) Help
Just had a battle trying to clear remaining foul smells after finding cleaning up freezer after food thawed in freezer during absence from home. Our appliance repairman told me that he got the best advice from a client, and that was to crumble newspaper sheets up and place in the freezer with it running. Worked like a charm!

@@majesticwonder The paper absorbs the odor. It can take several days. Then throw away the paper. The odor will probably not be gone, but better. Put in new newspaper and go again. Be sure to wad the newspaper into loose wads before putting it in whatever you're trying to make smell better.
1. Unplug and open the freezer.
2. Clean it with 1 cup of bleach per 1 gal of water, rinse, and dry it.
3. Spray it with cleaning vinegar & let sit 20m. Wipe it down.
4. Get a bucket of warm water with "a generous amount" of baking soda, and wipe everything down. Then dry it with a towel.
5. Put some vanilla extract on a small cloth and wipe down all the metal racks.
If you cleaned your freezer and it still has a smell.
Check *the drain hole* by *clearing it*.
The drain hole at the bottom goes to a *water trap at the back*.
This should be cleaned as well!

@@halaldabo7303 what about a old fridge? My I just got my fridge from some one a 4 days ago. It smelled very bad like old people in a old house. I took all the pieces out and deeply clean it with vinegar and dawn. I use odban for other parts as well. The smell was slowly going away but, it had a fume of that smell to it. So I clean the hole that was in the freezer and it did pretty well. But, the smell is still kinda there. The fridge I have is a tfx27pfsbbb (GE) the manual said it suppose to have a tray but there is no tray. So what should I do?

theres a drip tray under the frige modern ones that gets covered in gunk , tip it on its side take two holding screws out ,pull out and clean well, then replace, this will really help to freshen up, after you have cleaned the inside as well of course.

should also slice a lemon/lime or grapefruit & place in fridge can also clean with citrus & place coffee grounds when done cleaning to absorb odors

Thanks for the video. I have a nearly new fridge that was in our home when it burned. Only smoke damage outside (damaged the black stainless finish). There was a small amount of food left inside and we need to clean and deodorize it. Plan to use it as a second fridge. Your video came at the perfect time. Love your videos.

I have a similar old freezer with a smell. I've tried everything and found 80% relief with an ozone cleaner ran twice. I'll try this method.

Update, your advice worked. I used the bleach method, and the vinegar method, then I used
all purpose cleaners last and I used the room deodorizer lavender spray and the bad small went away. Tomorrow I will check to see if it is gone if not, I will repeat. Thank you so much.
use salt and squeeze fresh lemon juice into the bowl the salt is in and put in your freezer

I just found your channel, love it! I use to have a cleaning lady but d/t covid she is not cleaning. So I am doing it! I have 3 dogs plus I am a cancer survivor so I hate chemicals. I use Melaluca products. However I love to use baking soda and vinegar. I have that same freezer😅 mine 2nd hand from an aunt
Last night I hit mine with vinegar because even after bleach I could smell something.
I bought off someone so it's used.
It smells like straight vinegar now so I have to stop and pick up some type of baking soda cleaner and plan to add some essential oil

However, my goodness, look at you for not only finding gratitude in this grand gesture of Sis-‘n-Law, but also taking an item that should have been trashed and thrown to the curb, shiny and new again!! ZorbX will save the freezer. I accidentally turned off my freezer for days. I tried bleach, white vinegar, baking soda, and coffee grinds. I was about to throw my year old freezer until my friend told me about ZorbX. It’s non toxic safe, and it worked. I applied it once, washed and dried it after 24 hours and repeated. ZorbX saved my freezer.

I had a horrible discovery today. I went to put the Thanksgiving turkey into our outside freezer (in the garage) and it was disgusting! I cleaned it out this summer and put the food back in, but I never plugged it back in apparently. So, this afternoon was clean up time. I honestly am not sure if we can keep it. I worked really hard at cleaning it up. But, I'm having a hard time getting the nastiness off of the wire racks like you have in your video. I did what I could today and will work on it again tomorrow. In the meantime, I put a box of baking soda in there tonight and it's turned off.
It turned on again so I know it will work. I found yuck in places I never knew it could go! Any suggestions??? Please assist if you can. I'm so embarrassed and devastated.
Take the racks out, maybe rinse them with garden hose.
It's old and I don't think she can. I think the cooling stuff runs through them.

The new stuff is made cheaply and designed with a 5 year life span
The old stuff were made out of quality materials and built to last.
Smells get trapped in porous materials like plastic and rubber. Doesn't hurt to deep clean the metal and glass tho.

Typically if you plug it in a lot of the Foul odor will dissipate. All refrigerators and freezers stink when they have been unplugged for any length of time no matter how new they are or how clean they are.
Can you remove the shelves and clean them outdoors. I am dealing with this matter myself at my new house. My seller left food in the fridge and the movers unplugged it. The fridge is to stay at the house for me. It is a brand new and expensive LG model they put it in the house to sell. It stinks like a dead body in it! Do you think I can keep it. I dont even want to try to do the cleaning myself, it stinks but this is the newest model and I think it is in the $2000.00 range. Comments welcome! It is now vacant, I cleaned the house yesterday, I left the doors open and sprayed the entire house. It was very bad, and the meat was left there for days. Thanks in advance.

Same as my freezer. I left 2 chicken in freezer then left for a month but unfortunately the electric was cut off bcoz of unpaid bill. So the got rotten and has a lot of worms and the smell was really brutal. For 3 wks I tried vinegar, next day baking soda, next day clorox but nothing happen. The bad odor of the freezer is still there. So what should I do?
