The man who never carried a gun, will be known as one of the greatest and most feared warrior that ever lived. The only thing that can scare a dalek is the doctor
Arne Lesschaeve you're totally right, I originally thought the First was going to help the Twelfth come to terms with regeneration because he was the wise old man. I forgot that the Doctor was actually young as the First.
absolutely! It's like it re-literates why both doctors don't want to regenerate, and the fact that the first looks so scared makes it even better because it's like "If I regenerate I turn into the worst thing in the universe!" and reminding the 13th doctor ( I go by the fact that hurt was 8, mcgann was 9 etc) that this is why he doesn't want to keep on living, because he will cause more pain, death and destruction...
I love seeing everyone's individual reactions; the Twelfth Doctor is distressed, the Captain is amazed, the First Doctor is horrified and Bill is just geeking out
The worse place to put a stupid joke. The 1st Doctor is not the hero he will become. He is questioning going on with his life. Unware of all the good he will do. And after seeing all these terrifying things, a future he does not know and looks incredible awful... He question Capaldi, who so far has not showed any good acts to his past life, and Capaldi makes this stupid joke. It kills the moment that was building up and they never address it again. I love all about this show except the fucking writing!!
Well not exactly. First of all she doesn’t use it in that context but most importantly the play on words they use at the end of the episode is that he cures war itself not warriors. As in, if war is a disease upon the universe then the doctor is..well the doctor who cures it wherever and whenever he goes by restoring peace.
I hope he shows up at some point, since I think it was the Master who said he was created from the dark side of the Doctor between his twelfth (technically David Tennant since he regenerated twice) and final incarnation.
I love this scene, seeing how the 1st Doctor's reaction, seeing what he will become, the 1st Doctor is so innocent, he hasn't gone through all of this yet, he hasn't fought in the Time War, he hasn't lost so much yet...
Crimson Doodlebear Exactly. My thoughts exactly. The scene would be perfect if it wasn't for the damn stupid joke at the end. Why can't it be a serious show with a few funny moments, instead of a funny show with a few serious moments...
I love the contrast, the first Doctor is looking very worried what he might become, while Bill looks fascinated one scene after the other, she's loving it!
Did anyone else notice how it referred to the doctor a the shadow and the beast which are two names that the Great Intelligence said that the Doctor would be referred to before he died along with the valeyard In The Name of The Doctor.
“What was that?” “To be fair, they cut out all the jokes” classic doctor even through all the regenerations he is still a doctor, a doctor who uses true medicine, laughter
aresef Exactly. But they end it with a joke and never address it again. Look how damn afraid the 1st Doctor is. He doesn't want to become that, because he in unware of all the good he did too. Wanted to see such a talk.
GallantHavoc They also forgot the following; The Oncoming Storm The Sandman The Ka Farag Gatri The King of Okay The Vessel of Zagreus The Guardian of Orbis The Seeker of Anti-Time The Lord Burner And etc.
On first watch I was waiting for “the oncoming storm” and was surprised not to hear it! I’m biased to that name, but maybe it’s cause of the way Rose sarcastically says it in The Girl in the Fireplace 😂
I absolutely Love every reference to the Classics in New Who. And This is one of my favourite scenes from 54 Years of time and Space. One of my favourites was in Season 5 when eleven asked for celery ^^
I mean "The Would-Be King and his Army of Never-weres" also sounds pretty stupid, from the RTD era. Doctor Who is full of meaningless words slammed together for effect.
KhalAce It's neither. It's a variation of The Majestic Tale, but variations of both The Majestic Tale and I Am The Doctor were used in all three of Matt Smith's series.
When I watch this scene, I like to think as the past clips are not the doctor's memories but people that witness the Doctor or mention of the Doctor during that time, for 11th Doctor- Silurians (Cold Blood), 10th Doctor- Adelaide Brooke (Waters of Mars), "Time War Dalek"- Rusty the Dalek (Into the Dalek), 5th Doctor- Rassilon or Nyssa (Arc of Infinity), 7th Doctor- The Happiness Patrol Sniper (The Happiness Patrol), 4th Doctor and "Crucible Time War Daleks- Davros (Genesis of the Daleks and Journey's End), Nightmare in Silver Cybermen- Nightmare in Silver Cyberman (Nightmare in Silver), 8th Doctor- Ohila (The Night of the Doctor), 12th Doctor- Mondasian Cybermen (The Doctor Falls), Kate Stewart or Osgood- War/ 10th/ 11th Doctors (The Day of the Doctor)
I really like this scene ! One of the best scenes that has used archive footage ! But could someone tell me if there is a reason for the faces to be the way they do ? look like a camera filter. Like the fish-eye effect
Also they want to hide the difference between the quality of the archive footage, so that the classic doctors can mix in nicely with the new series footage.
I wonder if Doctor Who will utilize these glass people for the future. It's a good way to bring back old companions and Doctors without them actually have to be taken from their timelines.
I think a big missed opportunity in this story was the first doctor not wanting to regenerate after hearing about all the things he would do in the future.
So if these were just people trying to preserve people's memories and had the memories of companions then why did they try to make the Doctor's future look bad and act so hostile, just tell the Doctors who they are and what they're doing.
They pretty much scoured every single dead enemy that the Doctor has personally wiped. They are completely neutral to the Doctor but the memories alone indicate how many enemies he has wiped and also the reason why the Testimony has such a massive databank. The Testimony Ai then assesses those memories to reach its conclusion.
When in the end we find out who the Testimony are, this doesn't make any sense... It looks like they're trying to show the First Doctor all the bad things that are going to happen and by that scaring him from regenerating into the Second Doctor... However him hesitating about that is what caused the problem with the Captain in the first place, so... Why did the Testimony do that?
Few issues with this. 1) Unless you're telling me the Doctor remembers his adventures in third person, this is bullshit. 2) The Doctor himself said that his memories, especially the Time War ones, would shatter all of Testimony. His presence alone messed Testimony's tech up and dragged the Captain off course. 3) Time Lords cannot be frozen in time.
Well, fine, but point 2 and 3? Testimony may be New Dalek Paradigm levels of tech, but that's still nothing to what the Time Lords have up their sleeves.
Omega of Gallifrey Maybe they aren't _his_ memories? Maybe they just did a search amongst all of the memories they had for "The Doctor" then crossreferenced with "Nicknames."
Too bad First didn't react to "the destroyer of Skaro". That would have made him think, "oh dear, I'm really not liking that place." Because it's called Skaro from the beginning, right?
Ah yes Twice upon a time Or as I like to call it “12 tries to keep things chill between problematic Grandfather 1 and a literal dude from WWI and his POC Gay friend Bill”
Hamza Bahrawi I'm not complaining about the "Oh look I'm blatantly trying to offend someone" stuff, I'm asking what a "literal" guy from world war one is, since specifying the literallness implies that there is something else.
Greppellio Offend? What??? Idk how try original comment can be offensive SO if you could tell me what could be seen as offensive so I can make sure not to say something along those lines of implication again that would be nice. The comment was a simple observational joke on the episode. Am I wrong to say that Bill is a POC Lesbian? Am I wrong to say the intention of One’s Character here is to show the problematical nature of the 60’s and he was Problematic in terms of misogyny and implied about LGBT in the episode? Does the offence come from me using the word “literally”? I am not trying to be a dick so if you could tell me that would be much obliged
Hamza Bahrawi O...kay... I just found it suspicious that you got so defensive over me making a joke about a poorly thought out gag. Why specify that it is "literally" a soldier from ww1? I made a joke, and you came back with the unrelated "I meant what I said" so I assumed that you were just trying to get a reaction out of me.
Ok i'll say something no fan says.Did Doctor do anything truly terrible ? I just watched the modern series and therefore a noob but i've never seen but always heard what a dark past he has. What's the worst thing he ever did really ?
He and the Silence defended a planet from every powerful space-faring race in the main universe for 900 years, though this feat is slightly weakened when you realise all the races were fighting each other too once the forcefield broke. Still, one man and the Silence, taking on the universe.
James Coleman Have you watched a single post-2005 series the entire way through? Rarely an episode goes by without paying reference to it. Watch _Trial of a Time Lord._
Greppellio Ok, I see your point with Trial of a Time Lord, and that there have been many references post 2005. But we haven't really had a full story in recent years that has really delved deep into this. The closest I've seen is Doctor Simeon in Name of the Doctor. I think if they got another character like Simeon, who takes it even further, to the point where there is no defence for the Doctor's actions. It's out there, but I think it would be a great direction for the series if the idea was taken further.
I thought they would bring in the Valeyard as the main antagonist in Capaldi's final episode considering he is his 12th and final incarnation (even though technically this is 13th incarnation). Plus I was hoping he would show up before Capaldi when he leaves in my mind from last year before Capaldi decided to leave the show than coming back under Chibnell and than decide to leave after the show needed him to leave in a perfect way since they really didn't had alot of returnable characters from the classic series to debut in his era at all.
Kalvin Goodlaxson Also. This is the 14th incarnation. Ten regenerates twice. 11 is the 13th incarnation and twelfth regen. 12 is the fourteenth incarnation and the thirteenth regen.
I love how the first Doctor looks so afraid. It is a reminder that although he looks old, he's so young and afraid of what he will become.

That one look of fear made me wanna give the poor guy a hug.
"never carries a gun" *watches the third doctor shoot people with a gun* i call bullshit
I love seeing everyone's individual reactions; the Twelfth Doctor is distressed, the Captain is amazed, the First Doctor is horrified and Bill is just geeking out
I absolutely love this scene. And I love how Capaldi is like "To be fair they cut out all the jokes"
The best part of the episode. It's so funny.
Oliver Linklater this special was a load of waffle
it is the best response in that moment
...After all guilt-tripping from his own enemies, he trolls-"To be fair they cut out all the jokes"
The worse place to put a stupid joke. The 1st Doctor is not the hero he will become. He is questioning going on with his life. Unware of all the good he will do. And after seeing all these terrifying things, a future he does not know and looks incredible awful... I love all about this show except the fucking writing!!
"He is the Doctor of War."
What people fail to realize, is that this is likening him to a literal Doctor of War: A combat medic.
He calls himself the doctor because he wants to help people and hates conflict.
EeveeMaster547 - we're not idiots, we all got it lmao
Well not exactly. First of all she doesn’t use it in that context but most importantly the play on words they use at the end of the episode is that he cures war itself not warriors. As in, if war is a disease upon the universe then the doctor is..well the doctor who cures it wherever and whenever he goes by restoring peace.
we get that word from him you know?
'The shadow of the Valeyard'
I really like how they drop in mentions of the Valeyard here and there. One of my favourite Colin Baker stories.
Benjamin Nealon Is he in any other episodes except for Trial of a Time Lord?
TimelordRock Unfortunately no, the Valeyard hasn’t been seen since Trial of a Timelord.
Manjit Toor Unless you count other media.
I hope he shows up at some point, since I think it was the Master who said he was created from the dark side of the Doctor between his twelfth (technically David Tennant since he regenerated twice) and final incarnation.
Colin is my favourite Doctor from the Classics and Trial of a Timelord is one of my favourite Doctor Who Stories in general. I Like the idea of it.
... The Doctor of War!
First Doctor: Oh, sh*t. I become a badass!
More like a pimp
@@franklindegaulle4351 yea but his reputation and power...hes like a teddy bear but if you trigger him, he will become a bear.
Crimson Doodlebear Nah the scene needed that joke at the end.
Crimson Doodlebear Nah the scene needed that joke at the end.
James Johnson And why would that be?
Victor Dantas Because if 12th didn't speak up, 1st would probably be terrified of 12th, knowing they're the same person and capable of those things.
They left out "The Oncoming Storm".
No they didn’t if you listen carful you can hear it after davros yells destroyer of worlds
And the Valeyard.
Aiden Stead they didn't left it out, they called him "Shadow of the Valeyard".
Ethan Brannon What sort of mad logic is that?
"destroyer of Skaro" sort of covers it, though. It was only the Daleks who called him that.
Oh sure out of context that all sounds bad. Doctor of War = Man that stops the monsters
it IS quite an impressive track record tho
They left out "Husband of River Song," the most dangerous name of all. :)
Lol, and yes.
They forgot to throw in, "Sweety," but I guess that wouldn't have sound as epic.
Let’s not forget the oncoming storm
Tibbi S but THE BEST
I love the contrast, the first Doctor is looking very worried what he might become, while Bill looks fascinated one scene after the other, she's loving it!
you can tell a man's character by the quality of his enemies
"the bane of the beast", "the oncoming storm", "the slayer of the racnoss", "the man that frightens the shadows", "the timelord victorious"
Did anyone else notice how it referred to the doctor a the shadow and the beast which are two names that the Great Intelligence said that the Doctor would be referred to before he died along with the valeyard In The Name of The Doctor.
It's gotta be said, I love 'the beast of Trenzalore' title/name, it's just too badass!!
“What was that?” “To be fair, they cut out all the jokes” classic doctor even through all the regenerations he is still a doctor, a doctor who uses true medicine, laughter
I was expecting the First Doctor to seriously talk to Twelve about his reputation. Didn’t happen.
aresef Exactly. But they end it with a joke and never address it again. Look how damn afraid the 1st Doctor is. He doesn't want to become that, because he in unware of all the good he did too. Wanted to see such a talk.
This soundtrack is AMAZING!!! Actually, the whole soundtrack of this episode was spot on!
Yeah. This episode was like Murray Gold's Greatest Hits.
Murray Gold is leaving so yeah they've put the best of him
IKR
I just wish they had the Doctor Forever and and All the Strange Strange Creatures in there.
They forgot "An idiot! With a box. And a screwdriver. Passing through. Helping out. Learning."
GallantHavoc They also forgot the following;
The Oncoming Storm
The Sandman
The Ka Farag Gatri
The King of Okay
The Vessel of Zagreus
The Guardian of Orbis
The Seeker of Anti-Time
The Lord Burner
And etc.
If you start playing We Are The Doctors at the beginning of this clip it fits SO WELL with the scene.
The first Doctor was probably thinking something like "Fuck this, I'm going to the medieval ages on Earth"
And that was the last of the “I am the Doctor” theme
"The Last Tree of Garsanog?" I can already see someone getting fired over that one.
Danil Manison Why? What's wrong with Last Tree of Garsennon?
Greppellio I'm referring to Garsanog. It sounds.... So stupid. No offense meant.
Danil Manison I just thought you meant there was some kind of unintended double entendre in the name.
Greppellio oh no.
I mean "The Would-Be King and his Army of Never-weres" also sounds pretty stupid, from the RTD era. Doctor Who is full of meaningless words slammed together for effect.
I like how the first doctor is like "What have you done to my future!?" XD
"The Last Tree of Garsennon? I wonder what that was about.
The walls look like the heaven sent walls
But still , what a scene this is why the doctors the best 🏌🏻🕶
The ultimate One Word Test: Tell me my Name.
I hope the mentioning of 'The shadow of the Valeyard' means that the valeyard in series 11
yep
the Valeyard is from "Trial of a Time Lord" is a inbetween incarnation created by the Time Lords to prosecuted himself
The dream lord is the Valeyard.
Badassery level.... it OVER 90000000000!
i love how his only response it “to be fair, they cut out all the jokes”
I hate myself for getting depressed when they mentioned trenzalore
I love how Bill was like “wow” and one was like”.......what was that?”
He is named the Doctor of War because he stops wars, he's a medic that helps the injured and broken, and still he doesn't want to kill.
She forgot "The oncoming storm". The coolest one.
“To be fair they cut out all jokes”
XD
I love the use of I am the doctor here
Brian Holmes it's a majestic tale. It was used in series 6-7. I am the Doctor was used in series 5. :)
KhalAce It's neither. It's a variation of The Majestic Tale, but variations of both The Majestic Tale and I Am The Doctor were used in all three of Matt Smith's series.
That dialogue would make for a great Doctor Who movie trailer. Including that line about cutting out all the jokes at the end.
My favorite moment in the whole series!
I love that line. ‘To be fair they cut out all the jokes.’
The Doctor of War reminds me of the War Doctor.
Excellent scene. Showing the last 54 years of beautiful history.
One of my favourite episodes ever.
I love how they played the 11th doctors theme.
This is the Doctor's name. This and all of it. Convey it with a single word and you have the Doctor's name.
Holy shit I get shivers from this scene, as a writer I fucking WISH I could write a scene as cool as this
No, do better
No matter what you think of this episode as a whole, this part was amazing
Can you upload the 1st doctors regeneration please
Doctor who Productions it's been up for years.
The best part!
No wonder why the master is jealous, he doesn't have awesome names like that
I really like this scene ! One of the best scenes that has used archive footage ! But could someone tell me if there is a reason for the faces to be the way they do ? look like a camera filter. Like the fish-eye effect
The zombie slayer I think it's because they're supposed to be in glass spheres so the parts in the middle of them appear to be sticking out.
Also they want to hide the difference between the quality of the archive footage, so that the classic doctors can mix in nicely with the new series footage.
"The Time Lord Victorious!"
What i wanted to hear👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I didn’t listen to the names I was to busy fangirling
0:27 If you can hear Tennants Voice Saying 'The Oncoming Storm'
Peter Capaldi at his best! Damn l will miss him!!!!
"to be fair the cutted out all the jokes"
"To be fair they cut out all the jokes"😂🤣🤣😂then i thought he would say 'hoy!spoiler alert!'😅
Does anyone know what story the clip of the third doctor is from at 0.21?
ByronRaver thank you
If it’s the 5th doctor bit it’s from Arc of Infinity
5th Doctor is "The 5 Doctors" he's on Gallifrey
Dominustempus31 it's arc of infinity when he was being escorted to his execution by the time Lords.
THE M DEN It's Death To The Daleks. He's got his hand on Balal.
This is the most epic scene in the entire of New Who
This always gives me goosebumps
I wonder if Doctor Who will utilize these glass people for the future. It's a good way to bring back old companions and Doctors without them actually have to be taken from their timelines.
When they brought back 11th theme
I loved this scene! Plz upload the cruel scene (aka the regenderation(spelt wrong intentionally))
The doctor know is future now XD
I think a big missed opportunity in this story was the first doctor not wanting to regenerate after hearing about all the things he would do in the future.
They left out "John Smith"
where are clips of doctors 2, 6, and 9
Doctor means "Great Warrior" If you watched the River's reveal episode
hence it means "Great Warrior of the War"
Only on that one planet. Most everywhere else it means healer.
The Testimony Ai then assesses those memories to reach its conclusion.
because they want the WW1 soldier.
Do you think they will show clips of previous stories/ episodes in Series 11?
was colin baker in there? have watched a few times now and cannot see him
Badass scene!
IF they know all this...They should be running.
The only thing missing from this scene is the oncoming storm
What Part of the Invasion of the Dinosaurs is The 3rd Doctor Flashback from?
When in the end we find out who the Testimony are, this doesn't make any sense... It looks like they're trying to show the First Doctor all the bad things that are going to happen and by that scaring him from regenerating into the Second Doctor... However him hesitating about that is what caused the problem with the Captain in the first place, so... Why did the Testimony do that?
Whats the song on 0:19?
*The shadow of the Valeyard*
He got a mention but not Susan!?
You know what I meant. Talking about thewhole episode not just this bit :P
Susan being the Doctor's granddaughter
Why is the Ninth Doctor completely left out?
Sorry why is no one mentioning the fact that 9 isn't here?
The jokes do make all the difference no!
was 9 here?
Is every Doctor shown here? I've watched several times and believe I saw 11 out of the thirteen. Missing were Patrick Troughton and Colin Baker
I didn't see Ninth in there either
I watched it again and I believe you're correct. However, the video could be sharper as there wee a couple I could not discern
I may be wrong but I think one of the first four, the one that is far from the screen, is about the Ninth Doctor.
What about the oncoming storm?
I'm wandering hope this seen would've gone if The dark doctor explained everything
No love for "The oncoming Storm"?
Tennant says it after 'The Imp Of The Pandorica'
How the fuck did they get footage of the Time War?
Few issues with this.
1) Unless you're telling me the Doctor remembers his adventures in third person, this is bullshit.
2) The Doctor himself said that his memories, especially the Time War ones, would shatter all of Testimony. His presence alone messed Testimony's tech up and dragged the Captain off course.
3) Time Lords cannot be frozen in time.
Wings of Darkness some of my memories are in 3rd person view
Well, fine, but point 2 and 3? Testimony may be New Dalek Paradigm levels of tech, but that's still nothing to what the Time Lords have up their sleeves.
Omega of Gallifrey Maybe they aren't _his_ memories? Maybe they just did a search amongst all of the memories they had for "The Doctor" then crossreferenced with "Nicknames."
Definitely possible.
I heard mat smith say wopa
Too bad First didn't react to "the destroyer of Skaro". That would have made him think, "oh dear, I'm really not liking that place." Because it's called Skaro from the beginning, right?
Jon Ericson I would've thought he'd be more concetned overhearing Ten mention how all the Time Lords died.
But yes, Skaro has always been Skaro.
The Music though
I didn't see Troughton, Colin or Eccleston in there
Why's there no 9???
Ah yes Twice upon a time Or as I like to call it “12 tries to keep things chill between problematic Grandfather 1 and a literal dude from WWI and his POC Gay friend Bill”
Hamza Bahrawi "A literal dude from WW1"
As opposed to a metaphorical one?
Greppellio I know what I said, and Meant what I said
Hamza Bahrawi I'm not complaining about the "Oh look I'm blatantly trying to offend someone" stuff, I'm asking what a "literal" guy from world war one is, since specifying the literallness implies that there is something else.
Greppellio Offend? What??? Ok i'll say something no fan says.Did Doctor do anything truly terrible ? I just watched the modern series and therefore a noob but i've never seen but always heard what a dark past he has. What's the worst thing he ever did really ?
Ahmet Kurum my personal one would probably how he ended the time war, for the effect it had on him
1) he refused to stop the creation of the Daleks ( multiple times).
2) he partecipated to the Time War, killing many people.
4th Doctor practically committed genocide every season.
He was the guardian of trenselor. That is why they buried him there. He protected trenselor non stop for over a thousand years. Why call him beast?
Because that's what the "bad guys" would refer to him as
He and the Silence defended a planet from every powerful space-faring race in the main universe for 900 years, though this feat is slightly weakened when you realise all the races were fighting each other too once the forcefield broke.
Still, one man and the Silence, taking on the universe.
His regeneration did kinda nuke the place too, in addition to what the others have said.
Why haven't they done a story on this? The darker side of the Doctor.

James Coleman They could bring back the Valeyard. Maybe have another _Deep Breath_ style episode but actually show him killing the villain?
It's called Hell Bent.
He's the dream lord
Kalvin Goodlaxson Also. This is the 14th incarnation. Ten regenerates twice. 11 is the 13th incarnation and twelfth regen. 12 is the fourteenth incarnation and the thirteenth regen.
Matt Smith was my Doctor
"the doctor of war"... that's cheap propaganda with no context
