Joe Pohlad doesn't have the ability to winback the fans. Rocco doesn't have the skills to fix a fractured clubhouse. Falvey doesn't have the ability to improve this team with the current payroll situation. As fans we are screwed. I am a lifelong fan and that won't change but it is going to be a hard stretch and there is no light at the end of the tunnel yet.
Rocco has already won the division twice with a worst lineup. Your problem is ownership and players who are not tough enough or want to play slightly hurt.
They intentionally did a lot to push us out. The front office and ownership is wasting the players body’s/time and the fans $ by not doing things to win a championship or even just compete. The team should get sold or someone should put their money in the team. People quit this year and you can’t hide it. They refuse to invest more money or assets to help the major league team. They are a draft team or AAA with a guy or two they feel compelled to sign. We aren’t truly trying to compete so it’s hard to root for the team
Lets be honest the only answer to the question is: to save the Twins the Pohlads have to sell the team. It’s that simple. The ownership is the enemy in this situation. Anything short of ownership change well not move the needle with fans.
The Houston game where Miranda tied the MLB record for consecutive hits and Brooks Lee hit his first big league homer... That game was electric. In fact the series was awesome.
It’s not even that they announced they were cutting payroll, it’s that it was immediately following the best season in 2 decades. Plus It’s hard for fans to care about a team they can’t even watch. Dish Network hasn’t shown Twins games since Fox Sports North left.
Hitting coach is the sacrificial lamb. These teams spend so much time on analytics that they forget to teach basic skills including bunting and fielding. The biggest loser here are the fans. It is very clear ownership has no intention of building a winning team
@@darrinthurston3308 that’s probably true but their issues go much deeper than just their hitting coach. I don’t think replacing him will make that much difference
I guess the bottom line here is that if all of us in twins territory, want to cheer for a winner, then we’re going to have to break our allegiance with the twins and go with another major league team as much as I hate to say this
as a 24 year old who just started getting into baseball this year, the best thing the twins could do get my attention would be not leaving runners on base every inning, hitting homers and getting a good closer so Bailey doesnt have his amazing performances go to waste. basically spend money on good players
Yes, they were 17 games over .500 on August 17, 😂but remember in the end the Twins were 20 games under .500 against teams with winning records this season (39-59) and that’s the most telling stat that they weren’t very good in 2024.
Baseball is pure monopoly and has no competition, every team is profitable and there should be no excuses about payroll imploding like it did last year for the Twins.
Trevor is 100% right. Going to a game once a year is about all my family and I can afford... IF we're lucky. Everything is way too expensive. That's precisely the reason why I go to college games and check out other leagues like the Northwoods League. Much cheaper and more fan-friendly.
When you have teams that are playing well and organizations seem to care about them it is a boost to fan morale. Look at the Vikings and T-Wolves. Then you see the Twins and I have zero desire to follow them or care about them. Last years playoff run was a fun little distraction, but I have been a casual-at-best Twins fan since they let Hunter and Santana go years ago. If the Pohlad's don't care why should I?
A baseball game was one of the best bargains to attend of the pro sports leagues now not so much. Travel costs from ND when I was young was one the more expensive parts of going to a game now it is the cheapest part.
Carl Pohlad paid $44,000,000 for the Twins. If sold today, the estimate value of the team is $1,460, 000,000. That's a $1.416,000,000 That's almost a billion and a half profit, and we all got to contribute to their ballpark. How can ownership have to cut payroll to "make ends meet" ? I'm sorry, I'm all done.
Sucks that not being able to watch them made everyone miss what was a pretty good team most of the season. But instead it starts with payroll cuts and missing the playoffs. It will only go down from here
Sure, but it has to be mentioned the Orioles and Tigers went the 'tank the team for consecutive years, get high draft picks' route. The Guardians and Brewers do the little things right. Neither of these strategies are likely happening either because the Pohlads won't tank the team or Falvey and co. have yet to figure out the little things.
@@nordland6098 I agree . I was just pointing out that teams with lower payrolls can make the playoffs. It should also be noted that the Angels and White Sox had higher payrolls than the Twins so spending more doesn’t always equate to a winning team
"...all had lower payrolls than the Twins" There's citing statistics vs knowing what they mean and putting them in context. I get what you're saying, but that's surface level. There's no desire to win. To just talk about money. It is just rot. Like my budget might be lower, but my motivation makes up for it. His motivation does poison the well and affects everything.
@@TRON0314 pretty arrogant statement. I was simply stating that there are several playoff teams that had lower payrolls than the Twins, nothing further. My statement just means that you can build a winning team with less expenditure than the Twins. The Twins are in a difficult situation because they have too much money tied up with two players, Buxton and Correa which in my opinion were not great moves. They can’t change that now but these other teams have shown that very good teams can be assembled with less capital than the Twins have spent. I’m sure you’re an expert on building a winning team and I can hardly wait for you to enlighten us all🤮
What was with the Twins not having a sponsor on their jersey? The average cost is $12.4 million for the season. That pays for a couple of players. I know corporations are susceptible to lawsuits at any given moment but none of them could cough it up?
I would agree but the casuals do come out when there is a winning team like 2019 and last postseason. With the latest drama coming out of 1 Twins Way I bet they all move on to other teams.
14:15 maybe instead of finding a way to save some money, we should find a way to generate some more money, by selling more tickets, more merchandise, more concessions, generating more interest in the club.
Would help me get re-bought back in on the twins would be a apology from the front office and from Joe and then to say that they’re dedicated to trying to put a World Series team together and then follow up up with action that would make me go out and buy season tickets again.
Minnesota lost the fanbase before the season started when it cam down to the TV deal. The Pohlad family willingly embraced the fact that they were first on the Bally chopping block. The Twins to that family is less and less about winning than it is about the money, the number one killer of the Twins in the 21st century. Who does the team have for fans to rally around? It isn't Rocco who has let chance go by him during his Twins stint. It isn't Falvey who above all has traded away much of the twins core prospects who are doing well right now on other squads. It isn't Buxton, C4, or Lewis because they cant stay healthy. Unless they increase the payroll, which without a TV deal sounds extremely unreliable, this team is destined for .500 ball. That is just how the cookie crumbles with the Al Central. The Tigers have this, and maybe next season to make a run. They dont have the money to spend on keeping in-house guys like Skubal and that lineup is largely inconsistent. The Royals already paid Whitt and wont have the money to give anybody in that rotation additional money. If you are reluctant to add a salary cap, tax teams who go beyond a certain dollar amount just like the NBA has been immensely successful in doing. Make a competition minimum. it will drive unwilling owners out and create an atmosphere where all 30 teams can have a chance. But when has the MLB under Manfred ever done anything relatively good.
There is a lot finger pointing, in attempt to distract from the real reason, bad philosophies, inability to make necessary trades & poor player evaluation another words Falvey & Co. & none of them got touched.
maybe the infield philosiphy includes a hitting technique only used 3 times last year..its called bunting!!! how many times we lwft men on base cuz rookies couldnt advance the runners...id rather watch a bunt not work than watch a batter stand there and watch strike 3 go flying by. perfect summation.. Nothing fundamental is going to change with the WRONG people in charge

I was there. It was a good game. However, I also was at the game when the Twins were eliminated. The F-Pohlad chant in the stands was the highlight.
Joe Pohlad again said cutting payroll and not making a move at the trade deadline had no effect on teams performance. What a joke he is.
But he profited a few hundred million. So, it's all good in the taxpayer-funded stadium.
The Pohlads promised competitive teams for a new stadium and a streaming service, there isn't a promise the Pohlad's wont break with the fans.
