LOVE AND BASKETBALL MOVIE REACTION |
LOVE AND BASKETBALL MOVIE REVIEW |
    Love & Basketball Movie Reaction:
Monica (Sanaa Lathan) and Quincy (Omar Epps) are two childhood friends who both aspire to be professional basketball players. Quincy, whose father, Zeke (Dennis Haysbert), plays for the Los Angeles Clippers, is a natural talent and a born leader. Monica is ferociously competitive but sometimes becomes overly emotional on the court. Over the years, the two begin to fall for each other, but their separate paths to basketball stardom threaten to pull them apart.
Love & Basketball is a 2000 American romantic sports drama film written and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (in her feature film directorial debut). The film is produced by Spike Lee and Sam Kit and stars Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps. It tells the story of Quincy McCall (Epps) and Monica Wright (Lathan), two next-door neighbors in Los Angeles, California, who are pursuing their respective basketball careers before eventually falling for each other.
Love & Basketball was released on April 21, 2000 in the United States. It received positive reviews from critics, with praise directed at the performances (particularly those of Lathan and Epps), Prince-Bythewood's direction and script and the emotional weight of the film. Nevertheless, it grossed $27.7 million worldwide on a production budget of $14-20 million.
Over the years, the film has developed a dedicated following, cementing its place in popular culture, and establishing itself as a cult classic.

Love & Basketball was one of my favorite movies as a Black girl that was also a tomboy and loved basketball.
The part where you said you thought you were intruding had me hollering. 😂 You're a fool.

@Mellverse, "K! now that you've seen this, you have too see 'The Best Man'(1999), if you think that Regina Hall was something in this movie, you have too see her in this one, you will lose your damn mind over the character she portrays. Again love your reactions, until next time🙋🏿‍♀️🙋🏿‍♀️🙋🏿‍♀️🙋🏿‍♀️🙋🏿‍♀️!!!"

My favorite classic black movie would have to be Crooklyn. If you have not seen it I highly suggest you check it out... you wont regret it at all. All spike Lee movies are legendary and classic but Crooklyn is definitely a Top Tier Staple in the Black Community.

You want to know one of the "real" black classic movies - Cotton Comes to Harlem ( crime, comedy and drama) this leads into another movie with the 2 lead cops, another is a trilogy starting with Uptown Saturday Night and if you want a great western staring 3 iconic black actors that would be Buck and the Preachcer. As always I enjoyed your reaction looking forward to more. :)

In my opinion, Gina Prince Bythewood did a damn good job as visionary and director of this film.

Have you seen Soul Food? That’s a black classic right there. It even spawned a several season tv series continuing off from the movie.

Higher Learning….. John Singleton as the director. Omar Epps, Ice Cube, Busts Rhymes, Regina King, Laurence Fishburne are all in the movie.
