Easy A Movie Description:
Prompted by her popular best friend to spill details of her boring weekend, Olive (Emma Stone), a clean-cut teen, decides to spice things up by telling a little lie about losing her virginity. When the high-school busybody (Amanda Bynes) overhears the conversation and spreads it all over campus, Olive is suddenly notorious but for the wrong reasons.
Easy A (stylized as easy A) is a 2010 American teen romantic comedy film directed by Will Gluck, written by Bert V. Royal and starring Emma Stone, Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson, Thomas Haden Church, Dan Byrd, Amanda Bynes, Penn Badgley, Cam Gigandet, Lisa Kudrow, Aly Michalka, and Malcolm McDowell. The screenplay was partially inspired by the 1850 novel The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Shot at Screen Gems studios and in Ojai, California, the film was released on September 17, 2010. The film received positive reviews with praise for Stone's performance, and was a major financial success, grossing $75 million worldwide against a budget of $8 million.

It's such a telling scene when they came out of the room after the fake sex scene, everybody cheered to the guy, but made fun of and judged Olive.
my thoughts exactly 👍👍
Yep, misogyny at its finest.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 the screenwriter who is a gay man said he put this scene in as a result of all his female friends confiding in him that they will be judged for having sex by their peers; and it is misogyny, but the majority of it actually SPOILER comes from other woman. And the few men that do do it, do it to go along with the girls that are being judgemental to just get in with them and on their good side. Mean Girls tackles this exact same issue too. And that is modern day men and boys are way more coached up and evolved now and not the problem, but female on female casual cruelty to each other is. It's inherent since the dawn of time so who knows if that can be spliced out of one's DNA, but the problem can't be solved by continuing to promote the false narrative that it's majority men doing this. The double standard that after sex men are billed as conquering heroes and women irredeemable whores is one ironically women perpetuate more than guys do. Because men honestly don't care about that kind of thing. It's actually the opposite. Men with their lizard brains think they have a better chance of scoring, if anything and makes females more relatable to them. Mean girls weaponize it to inflict pain as misguided jealousy and envy. Then publicly misdirect the blame to men to absolve themselves of any accountability. It's a vicious circle.
@@pablosonic892 It's only not okay when white men are mean. Everyone else is able to do it no problem now.
@@pablosonic892 Yup, internalized misogyny
It's great to see a guy sympathetic with the girl's character rather than putting her down and siding with the guys
Amen, thank you.
It’s weird I felt bad for her but at the same time not really because she put herself in that hole but than again she got peer pressured but idk
@VincentStewart-qx7bx her so-called best friend started the whole rumor mill. That was messed up.
What are you on about she made her bed got upset with it and then tried to revert
Did anybody not sympathize with the MAIN character of this movie?? 🤔
the dads jokes with his son always fucking lands with me, the "WHAT WHO TOLD YOU??" and the "so where are you from originally" cracks me up every time
I’ve literally said if I ever became a parent that I would want to be exactly like the parents are in this movie. Such a beautiful relationship that you can absolutely feel the trust and love in. Movies need to have more demonstrations of parenting like this as potential examples.
Olive's parents are the best characters in this movie. hands down. I loved watching you have fun with this one and hope you enjoy it even more the second time around like I did 😃
"I'm adopted" "What? OMG! Who told you" I love all their interactions
"Where are you from originally?"
@@Dannib823 whoever wrote those lines is so funny, and the delivery were 100% on point🤣🤣🤣
@@kuivia the delivery is absolutely the best part. Stanley Tucci just kills it with every line lol 😂
Every time you do a "high school girl movie" it feels like we're getting closer to the inevitable mean girls video
What do you think? Mean Girls first or Heathers first?
@@agenttheater5 Heathers first!!
@@sallyh5413 I agree Heathers first. I love weird ass movies like that
"The hell is the Bucket List?"
Add "The Bucket List" to your list...
Sooo he should add "The Bucket List" to his bucket list?
I love olives parents. The Dad is actor Stanley Tucci he is married to actress Emily Blunts sister. He also co stared with Emily Blunt jn The Devil wears Prada.
The way her friend turns on her so quickly is like 100% accurate to my high school experience, and the way rumors spread and mutate.
Shows how kids, regardless of them being a boy or girl, have the ability to be quite toxic.
Mello's laughter at the "I'll be walking funny tomorrow" line was straight up medicine for the soul
I can't explain it, but "Don't forget tomorrow's Earth Day," kills me.
The ending of this movie referenced a lot of good High School movies. Like Can't Buy Me Love, Breakfast Club, Say Anything.
Everybody did have a blast making this, the behind the scene videos shows how great of a chemistry the cast had. Emma really broke out after this role and although it has seemed like she has played multiple different variations of this role ever since...she is really damn good at them so it's all good. :P
Finally someone remembers the teacher being in George of the Jungle! 😂
Hell, I remember him from Ned and Stacy.
I remember him from Wings (sitcom from the early 90's).
I remember him from Tombstone!
I love that you edited yourself in the booth in the middle when they were eating lobster smiling lol 😂 had me dead
That was hilarious!!
My whole family loves this movie😊 it’s so true how rumors can totally ruin your whole reputation in high school , I think that’s why everyone can relate. Zombie land and Lala land are a couple of her movies I really like oh and the favourite was great!!!
I saw this in the theater, and people clapped at the end and laughed so hard throughout. Great theater experience for my friends.
I love this movie and it's constant references to 80s movies. The only thing I had a hard time believing was Ema Stone being the "Invisible" girl at school. Maybe it's my thing for red heads but I call bull.
Her name isn't Emma, and she isn't a redhead.
@@DaviniaHill why do you say that? Her name _is_ Emma Stone and she's a natural blonde but clearly a redhead in this film so OP comment is correct.
*oh. Were you trying to correct their spelling of Ema but made your own mistake? 🤨
Same
@@that.ll_do_pig her real name is actually emily
I remember first time watching thinking, what a STUNNINGLY beautiful cast, great acting/chemistry as well. Definitely a movie I go back to.
The family chemistry is off the charts - Best part about the movie
I goddamn love this movie so much. I love the family, especially, and their interactions.
Gotta react to Romy and Michele's high school reunion. One of Lisa Kudrows best movie's
"I invented Post-Its" 😆
Omg I LOVE that movie! 😅
I'm so happy seeing more people react to this movie. It's exactly like a modern day Jon Hughes movie. So good!
His name is John Hughes.
@@DaviniaHill why are you correcting everyone 💀
Hahaha your arm around her in the thumbnail kills me🤣✨
I could definitely relate to Emma's character in this movie, rumors spread fast in High School. I had a rumor spread through my school and it even got back to my sister who went to a whole other high school lol but in my case it didn't bother me much because it was some dumb rumor that I was a witch because I was mad emo and I didn't mind that rumor because it made people leave me alone xD
I would definitely recommend The Perks of Being a Wallflower if you haven't already seen it. It has it's funny moments but a lot of moments that tend to pull at the heartstrings.
The epitome of my high school experience. I’ll make my daughter watch this the year she starts high school. Cause as unbelievable as this crap seems, it is insanely true.
You’re reaction to the Quiznos part had me crying hard lol! I kept rewatching that part lol! Thanks for the laugh haha!
This movie is a must rewatch. It feels like a classic. The acting is top notch for the most part (besides some over acting by the Christian circle). I became a fan of Emma Stone after this movie
You’re hilarious. For some reason I couldn’t stop laughing when you put yourself at the table with them at the Lobster Shack. Just sitting there cheesing in between them! It was one of those things that get you going and then it keeps popping into your head and you start up laughing all over again. So funny!
I like how you really get into the movies. It makes your reactions fun so I gave you a new sub. Good luck with your channel! :)
This is a favorite of mine. I loved her parents as well
That cafeteria scene cracks me up *EVERY TIME* I watch this movie! 😂😂
Edit: This actually became one of my favourite movies because of how easy it is to relate to it! The overall highschool experience was done *VERY* well!
That thumbnail 🤣 is perfect
Check out fast times at ridgemont high.
I can definitely relate to this movie. I did cyber school from 7-12th grade, but I obviously did go through the teen years, drama, friends betraying me, people always talking about me behind my back, and spreading all kinds of rumors about me in gossip circles. I could relate to wearing my heart on my sleeves for my friends only to be stabbed in the heart (not the back, THE HEART) over and over again, including my “friend” stealing the guy I really liked and who she knew I liked for years. The teenage years are the worst in so many ways. So I could definitely relate to this. I forgot how good this movie was. Thanks for the video. 🤗
Dude, you are so refreshing. I feel like everyone else is so serious and upset lately.

@@XavierXSims Thanks! Lol just fixed it 😂
This movie is already deemed on the classics list for high school movies. What Emma stones character says in the beginning describing that it’s not that kind of movie, captures Easy A so well and how many of those silly trope stories there are. Some are likeable, but not classics for me or groundbreaking stories. This however, was just that.
Someone else recommended it but please try Sideways! Excellent film! :D and funny to boot!
If you haven't seen it already, Mean Girls is in the same vein as Easy A and is just as funny if not funnier. Good stuff as always Mell
Have you seen ‘Say Anything,’ ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ or all John Hughes teen movies? So many 80s high school flicks were referenced in this, which is why I love it so much. Thanks for your reactions! ✌️
Check out Emma Stone, Anna Faris (and Kat Denning) in House Bunny.
That edit of your sitting at the table with them on the date at the restaurant had me dying 😂
Emma Stone is an amazing actress. I love every movie she's in.
“WHAT! OMG who told you!” gets me every time 😂
This movie seems to have been inspired partly by Can't Buy Me Love from the 1980's. The ending scene with them riding the lawn mower tractor is how that film ends too.
This is one of my favorite comedies, so good :)
20:05 ur cameos!!! 😂😆😭😭😭
My favorite high school comedy is Can't Hardly Wait.
"Lets just say Ill be walking funny tomorrow?" 😐😐
"Im drunk, wassup BITCHES." 😭😭😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is one of the funniest teen movies like, ever. Top 10 maybe even. I adore Olive's parents. Although I love the actors that play them as well. lol This movie has a great cast, great music, and a good story.
PS. If you haven't seen Jawbreaker, I highly recommend. It's dark, campy, dramatic, and hilarious. Another great cast, great music, and great costumes. Empire Records Can't Hardly Wait, Bring It On, Clueless, The House Bunny, Cruel Intentions, Idle Hands, Urban Legend, Cursed, The Faculty, Blades of Glory, Step Brothers, Little Nicky, The Wedding Singer, Going The Distance, Music & Lyrics (I adore Drew Barrymore), The Sweetest Thing... They're all some of my favorite teen/romantic comedies. Mad Love and Untamed Heart are more drama but excellent older "chick flicks".
EMMA STONE. OHH YES. OHH MY....
I'll take "entirely agreeable opinions" for 200!
THE BREAKFAST CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately Amanda is in a Brittney situation right now, no access to her money and everything has to be approved through the court. Her mom won't give her a dime, but just bought a brand new house in Texas, but doesn't have money to give her kid even though she's the one who earned it.
Okay but let’s also understand that Amanda has been making incredibly bad choices to the point of almost dying. So please don’t just write her as a victim of her parents. She needs help, if she allows herself to receive it and get better she would get it back. It’s not like she’s totally homeless or broke now. If she has access to all the money it likely won’t do her good.
@@LS13. her parents are part of the reason she is in the state she's in, they are toxic and not the people who need to be "caring" for her, if they cared for her they'd have pulled her out of the industry when she was a child but the money was more important.
20:06 I died when I saw you at the table
Nothing like sitting down with the family, eating dinner, and watching some MellVerse
I spent my lunch break watching this lol
That is awesome..
1 month in Orlando and 3 1/2 years in Hawaii. ( 3 years 5 months too long)
Hawaii is the "Nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there".
Loved her mom😍😜
“Yeah, you know, there's so few personal shoppers and pet therapists. Gosh, it's such a hard life.” 😂😂
Hearing them name-drop Phil Lord and Chris Miller was so surreal
I'd also like to see you react to La La Land if you haven't seen it. Probably my favorite Emma Stone movie although i must admit i haven't watched gotten around to ever watching Birdman.
Damn I miss Amanda Bynes. Wish she'd get better. "She's the Man" is hilarious.
My favorite high school movie is 2000's Get Over It. It stars Kirsten Dunst, Zoe Saldana, Mila Kunis, Colin Hanks, Sisqo, Ben Foster and Martin Short as the hilariously over the top Fine Arts Chair, Dr. Desmond Forrest Oates.
This movie is just the scarlet letter set in modern times for teenagers.....yet my class hated reading the book and loved this movie.....
Will always love Stanley Tucci in any movie he's in, love him
This movie came out when I was in college and I related to it so much. This was me in high school
Give The Perks Of Being A Wallflower a watch. My personal favourite "High School Movie".
I loved this movie. Emma Stone was also really good in Birdman.
I have had a huge crush on Emma Stone for a while now. Her voice is just amazing. Met a girl recently that has that same timbre and it drives me cray cray. My fave movie that she's in would definitely be "The Help" followed by "Zombieland" and then "Superbad". But, that being said, I forgot how good this movie is. So good! Thanks for watching it and reminding me.
Also thank you for the all the content lately. Love it!
I love this movie bro. Great review
Imagine your adoptive father asks you where you are from originally 😂😂😂
This is honestly one of the best highschool movies
I love this movie and Im a middle aged mam.. I especially love Olives Parents
Some great high school movies to check out. The breakfast club, fast times at ridgemont high, class act, lean on me.
Love all your videos, Mell. If you're gonna be doing more horror movies this month, you should check out the original Dawn of the Dead from 1978, directed by George A. Romero. I can honestly understand why you weren't exactly blown away by Night of the Living Dead, but everybody considers Dawn to be a major evolution towards the zombie genre as we all know it. Absolutely classic.
Moving away from horror, if you want to check out more foreign or classic films, you have simply GOT to see Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa. It's the inspiration to the classic western The Magnificent Seven. I can understand wanting to watch that since it's such a well regarded movie, but Seven Samurai is absolutely essential viewing for global cinema. True classic.
You got to watch Get Him To The Greek!!
Love the reaction Mellow, your wtf, come on girl face around 4 minutes into the video was classic. You should do a few improve reactions. Some whose line perhaps.
I love this movie. This set my Emma Stone crush and loved her parents. If I had to pick a romcom this would be it.
I dont know how to feel about Don't you forget about me from the Breakfast Club playing while dude recreates the John cusack scene from Say Anything when he's playing In Your Eyes outside the girls window .
This will always be one of my top 10 favorite movies.
I loved her in house bunny. That was good too
Cruella was good. Both Emmas were amazing in it. ;) It's visually beautiful, too. Have you watched Crazy Stupid Love? Emma S. is in it. I think you'd like it.
Hey damn it, Florida is GREAT to live in. (Depending on where you are) Miami, Orlando or Clearwater. Maybe Ft Meyers or the Keys.
But nowhere else.
I have an older sister who was a grade above me. She was an excellent student always behaved well in school etc. I was bright, but a little more of the trouble maker. Nothing major, just I wasn't the goodie two shoes. Anyway, apparantly my sister would REALLY cut loose when she was with her friends and stuff outside school. anywho I had at least 2 really uncomfortable conversations with my mom because she had heard through the grapevine that her daughter was being a really bad girl. She assumed it was me and there was nothing I could do to convince her otherwise. She still believes it to this day.
One if my favorite movies...
Loved this movie ever since it came out. 👌
Blaaaaaa the scene where she looks for a copy of The Bible gives me embarrassment flashbacks! When I was a (very young!) teenager I went into a book shop looking for Richard Dawkins.
I did not know Christian book shops were even a thing.
It was dawning on me because they had a rack of Jesusy tshirts but before it clicked in my head, the guy working there asked me if I needed help. I told him I was looking for 'The God Delusion'. He lowered his voice and very politely told me they only carried books "of faith". I was so dumb that I still took a blink to understand what I'd done.
It was funny once I got out of the shop but omg I was mortified. He must have thought I was being intentionally rude! Ohhhhhhhh...
Her partner is the stalker dude from YOU 💀
I love Olive's parents ^_^ and this movie really shows the double-standards of guy vs. girl who lost their virginity.... -_-
Yeah love this movie especially her family. U really need to watch BUCKET LIST with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman.
20:05 THE EDITING SFGHDJKL
MellVerse: What's 'The Bucket List'?
Me: WHAT'S 'THE BUCKET LIST'??!
How about Better Off Dead and/or The New Guy for your next high school comedy. Both very funny!
Not now Quiznos!
" Crazy / Beautiful " Kirsten Dunst
Great Review ...
the parents of olive are the best part of this movie.
My fave Emma Stone movie is probably Crazy Stupid Love (Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling just sweeten it even more with the humor)
this was an amazing reaction and YES when Cruella is free plz watch it!!
I lived in Florida for a year but I was in Orlando, not the weird parts.
