    Thank you for this video. I just replaced the halyard on my FF4 that I installed in 1994. That style had a plastic traveler. I was having a hard time conceptualizing how the new one with the ferrule was supposed to work. Your video was a lifesaver.
    Like you I also had a problem with the sealed end of the halyard being a glob of plastic that was too big to fit through the the Top Fitting. I didn't chew on it but I tried squishing it with pliers with no success. In the end I had to cut the glob off and re-seal it properly with a hot knife, shaping the edge so it tapered inward, not outward. Once that was done it was thin enough to get up through the hole but not enough to get over the sheave. I just kept jamming it upward into the hole with a screwdriver until the line finally stuck out just enough over the sheave to grab it with pliers and pull it through. Whew!

    Four years later, and this remains the only video available for installing the FF4. The written instructions from CDI are a disaster.
    Thank you for making this video! Furler is now installed and working great!

    Thanks for making this video. I often find that the instructions only make sense when you have seen the video some person made while they were figuring out the instructions.

      Glad I could help. I made it because I could not find a single video on it. Since I have learned so much from others making videos, I thought it may help. Thanks for letting me know it did.

    Great video, many thanks. Just bought a 30-year-old Capri 26 at Keowee Sailing Club, and want to upgrade the original CDI main bearing (teflon) to the roller bearing, this helps tremendously to see what I'll be into. Just missed Hospice, hope to be there next year.

    I just bought a Catalina 22 with this furling system installed. Just trying to figure out how to raise the jib on the thing now. Lol.

      It's really simple. The messenger line to the internal halyard, then hoist and tie off after removing the messenger line

      @@KeithSchrecengost That's what saved me. I thought that line was supposed to be on the inside. I went out there and had it raised in no time. I didn't look real hard but I need to figure out where the tack attaches to the furling system. Other than that I've got figured out. Thanks again.

    Hi there, did you ever do the second CDI video after you raised the mast.
    We could use some advice.

    • @KeithSchrecengost
      @KeithSchrecengost  Год назад

      What you need? I did a short video of it working. Apparently someone was very disappointed because it didn't show what this one did. Never sure why someone would say something negative when the title clearly stated it was a follow up.😂

    I bought the FF 2 : same unclear instructions, the extrusion did not have the sail slot (we had to cut it ourselves.). I like the system but they could do better instructions and maybe their video. Thanks for this, I wished I’d seen it earlier

      Glad it could help! They are updating the info, so it should be soon. But, obviously, not in time for you.

    for the furling system would it fit 10mm line 3/8 in the spool?

    • @KeithSchrecengost
      @KeithSchrecengost  3 года назад

      Well, I do not speak for CDI. But, I'd say that depends on how much sail you are furling. Also, you can strip the cover back to the part that stays in the furler most of the time. That makes it a bit smaller and can hold more.

    Hey great video, thanks for sharing! We're in the process of making our own video and updating our manuals - they're 30+ years old! We also noticed that you have some rust on the sheave pin, this was a mistake from one of our suppliers, feel free to send us an email and we can replace it with the proper stainless steel pin for you! info@sailcdi.com

      This was well done, but I may just wait for CDI to provide their video before I take this on.
