we searched quite a while for a cost effective system that would not jam in a small slot in the mast. this turned out to be the easiest to install and operate. the only winches i now use on the boat are the jib sheets. this is great for the single hander that does not want to leave the cockpit. much easier than lazy jacks. I don't see any appreciable difference with no batons. this gives you the added safety of going through the breakwater entrance and Marina with the mainsail up in case the engine quits. we used to have to put all the sails away before entering the Marina.
