Weak Armor-Policy is somewhat common in Doubles, where you'll also have a pokemon on your side with a Priority Weakness like Aqua Jet on partner with Low Attack to boost an Armarouge/Ceruledge.
Equally terrifying is Beat Up into a Justified Pokemon, potentially hitting +6 Attack turn one...

Gotta love Own Tempo Pokemon with "Uncontrollable Moves" like Outrage and Pedal Dance, don't have to worry about the Confusion downside and it actually holds a minor bit of tech not too many people know about.
Those moves are truly Uncontrollable meaning in Doubles it can ignore redirection Moves like Follow Me leading to potential sweeps during set up turns!
Pedal Dance is a great example cause this can also be abused by Oricorio who doesn't have to worry about the Confusion either because its ability calling the move doesn't register the Confusion chance or Move Lockin.

Also throw Tera Ghost on Lilligant to dodge Fake Outs, I've had sooo many people forfeit Turn 2 because they failed to stop that set up, as well Tera Ground on Oricorio to unexpectedly nuke Electrics (as well dodge Thunder Waves) because many don't know Revelation Dance acts like a better Tera Blast.

One that I've never seen someone else use but I LOVE using. Is a magic room scarf Lele. Not many pokemon can take Psyshock, Moonblast, AND Focus Blast. Click Magic Room on the incoming psychic or fairy resist, then just start clicking funny buttons. turn off your scarf, scarf is always great for Lele, but sometimes in some matchup you don't want to be choice locked. Got to the 1700s in under a day just being able to click buttons.Amazing amazing late game cleaner, and great against fat /stall, and obv nobody ever expects it so you have the surprise factor. But then if you're against a more offensive team then you already have a scarf anyways 👍🏻.

@@TheStormRX yeah that just sounds like trying shit to try shit, instead of finding something that actually could be a great niche. I mean I was trying shit to try shit too but I had a legitimate plan in mind when doing it 😂. A choice set with just two moves, most likely with two stab moves, that are both walled by a single type just sounds like a recipe for disaster.

My favorite weird set I came up with was Assault Vest Ferrothorn in Gen 8 Monotype. Basically, Ferrothorn was the only real answer Steel had to rain, except it found itself getting pretty reliably worn down from Hurricane (especially if it confused you). After a bit of experimentation, I found 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Def Brave Ferrothorn with an Assault Vest could both stifle rain and put immediate pressure on the opponent. Power Whip and max power Gyro Ball hit very hard, Knock Off still enabled it to still support the rest of its team while also packing a punch, and Body Press was mostly a filler move that had the benefit of giving Ferro a few more super effective hits. Even outside of rain, the set had benefits such as enabling Ferro to live non-STAB Fire attacks as it retaliated with a high damage STAB or Knock Off crippling. The biggest thing the set missed was Leech Seed, but with teammates like Corviknight that could just sit on the field forever and Bulk Up, you really didn't feel it that much

  • @pketr5

By the way, the self knocking out tatsugiri had endure and toxic orb. Here's how it worked:
Tarsugiri endures turn 1 and get hit by final gambit by its partner, then toxic orb activates. Dondozo then comes in and activates commander with a poisoned 1 hp tatsugiri inside.
At turn 2, Dondozo attacks (protect maybe) and tatsugiri KOs to poison damage. Co star flamigo comes in and copies the 2 omni boosts dondozo had.
Turn 3 Attack with 2 Double omni boosted Pokemon and win
... or get hazed by prankster murkrow, which is popular now due to how meta commander is in the first place, and you already sacrificed half your team to do this in the first place.

    • @sylvrwolflol
      @sylvrwolflol 18 дней назад +4

The unfortunate thing with this strat is that you can see it coming from the team preview and it has exactly one possible play to make.
So once the surprise factor of it existing went away, it just became another FEAR-style noob trap. Interesting, yes. Viable? Not after that first time, no.

If you're throwing 2 d16s and you need to crit with both... look, I'm sorry man. They will not cooperate. Walk away from that relationship, "she takes more than she gives".

It's practically impenetrable to any Special Attackers without Psyshock or the uncommon Special Fighting Moves, while being able to dish out good enough Damage with it's wide Range of Coverage like Fire Blast, Ice Beam, Alluring Voice, Thunderbolt, etc. as well as STAB Hyper Voice or sometimes even Hyper Beam if you're really silly.

Some more niche sets that weren't mentioned (these are all ADV sets because I fucking love ADV):
Choice band zapdos, which lures in pokemon like tyranitar and blissey and will KO them with hidden power fighting.
Physical dragon dance tyranitar can run fire blast, hidden power grass or ice beam to better deal with either skarmory and forretress, swampert and claydol, or flygon and salamence respectively.
Offensive skarm, which lures in magneton and then outspeeds and OHKO's it with hidden power ground (don't use this set it sucks ass against every viable playstyle)

IMO Sky Attack is tremendously underrated.
140bp with a flinch chance makes it a great move to use on Hawlucha for that Unburden boost, and then if you time it right and can sneak in a free charge turn in Singles, there's a chance you can still swing it when you use up the power herb for a chance for the 30% flinch or for another crit on that 140bp. (No one remembers it can flinch)
Only good when you have fighting coverage on your team and can play with rabdom bird offebse, so kinda niche but very fun.
Its a decent YOLO strat to have a nuclear high crit move if someone thinks they can set up on you.
