I did a double. Resurfacing the patella involves trauma to the quad and slowed me down several weeks. After four years, the replacements are doing well, although never young again. My issue now is that my menisci are degenerated and torn. This is a risk factor I wish my esteemed doctor had discussed with me. At this point, I would urge everyone considering a partial to have a strong evaluation of the entire knee and longevity appraisal of ligaments, menisci in addition to the cartilage areas.

Hoping for a great recovery for you! What caused you to need it done?

@@ScottCopenhaver I fractured my patella about 6 years ago and it’s been painful ever since. I’ve pushed through it and got to a point of managing and still being active. But hurt it in Dec and it was like 5 years of work out the window. So trying this and hoping to be able to be active again, without pain!

Oh rough. I’m 7 days post op from same surgery. I feel real lucky to have had a great PT visit with home exercise regimen before discharge from the hospital. Was done outpatient. My goal is running again haven’t been able to for 4 years. Still pretty swollen at day 7 but more generalized. But I was able to go to almost 90 degrees at day 3. Just 6 degrees short of straight on day 5 when I had my first outpatient PT visit. No CPM given. I know there are differences of opinion on those. My PT gave me a tip that it’s harder to accidentally use your glutes when doing quad sets if you’re sitting straight up vs lying supine.

How's your back? I've had a dozen surgeries on my hips, shoulder, and groin. Always have had spondyliosthesis and need a fusion but putting it off. It's at L5-S1 so fusing the base maybe wouldn't be too bad. But I'm extremely active and looking for an alternative..
