  • No lights at all, this is how you reboot it. Update... my washer was running great. I then changed one thing, heat dry.... It turned off again. Obviously, my problem with the electronics is with the heat part. Runs fine as long as i dont run heat dry..

Linda, you are a Goddess! I have a slightly different GE model but decided to try the same sequence on it. Bam! It worked. We too have electrical storms and the last one must have just been enough (despite a whole-house surge protector). Well done, Lady!

Thank you for your video post. I watched about 2 hours of other videos service men posted with no success. I watched yours and my dishwasher is working again without buying expensive boards. We had some power outages and the power surge knocked out our dishwasher.
Thank you again. Very helpful video. I saved it and emailed it to myself. 😊

Model GDT655SSJ0SS - Lights were flickering in the house (windy day) and made it stop halfway through a cycle. Followed your instructions and it worked! The cycle picked up where it left off so all I had to do was cancel it and start over. Thank you so much for this video, saved me $$.

Thank you, Linda! We were in a crazy off-season storm that caused the power to flicker several times, making me concerned about circuit boards on appliances that suffer from brown-outs. The sole victim was the dishwasher. We were transitioning into "gotta get a new one," and I checked YoutTube out. Your sequence did the trick! High fives and kudos to you!

What you did was put the machine into service mode. If you push the cycle select & start buttons for 5 seconds at the same time causes this. From this mode you can test the different components of the machine. There is a paper describing this located on the bottom near the water valve.

I want to go buy a new dishwasher.... SAID NO ONE EVER.... right...lol.. So glad it worked for you. My husband was about to rip mine out and thank god i'm a button pusher because i was determined i was not going to replace this one. Mine is still a little persnickety, but i have it figured out. I've gone through several theories as to why mine is like it is. I think i've decided that there is some sort of timer thing that is wonky. I can use mine once a day. It has to stay shut for a time after its finished and i can only push the start button once...but it works every time.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, LINDA!!!! Just pressing the 2 buttons for a few seconds worked for us. But it kept happening for several weeks, then the machine went completely dead and wouldn't reset. We thought it was a dishwasher issue, turns out our outlet went bad. Electrician REPLACED the OUTLET but it still wouldn't turn on. GE says to UNPLUG the unit for 30 seconds (disconnect from power supply). Plugged it back in and it works again. We had some ELECTRICAL ISSUES a few weeks back, which most likely caused the issues. We LOVE this dishwasher, by the way.

A repair guy came to fix ours, he tried the reset buttons trick but lights stayed off. He removed the bottom black panel 2 screws and unplugged a white connector for about a minute then plugged it back in again.. the lights came on! Then he had to do some reset routine that is covered in some of these videos. He said this happens all the time with this model. Charged me $79 lol! But I don’t see a video on RUclips that covered his fix. He said that it may happen again and if the unplugging connector doesn’t work to buy an LG.. he doesn’t get calls on LG

Exactly... wished there was a dishwasher that had one button, CLEAN.... not kindof clean, better clean, maybe clean..... just clean the heck out of whatever is put in there. I dont own any delectate things, everything i have can withstand a somoni .. So I totally agree. My dishwasher is around 5 yrs old, and it will take months to buy a new one which i dont want to spend 800 for a new one with the same electronics.. We are though, going to by a new mainboard since, i cant touch anything on this one without it going dead... This rebooting is just a temp fix for some of them. I blame it on days of our electricity flickering.... it died after that.... If it had one 'ON" button, it would still be working... GE are you listening!!!

I do encounter a crazy exception, I follow your video just as instructed, HOWEVER, there is never a response and the buttons stay dark? I pushed the srtart button as usual on our GE Adora and the light would not come on. I immediately thought there was probable an issue at the Breaker Box so I changed the Breaker in hopes that would solve the problem. I then searched for a reset button only to find that there wasn't one. My next thought was that, since the unit worled flawlessly for 6 years it was ready to retire. We shopped for a new one and was just about ready to pull the triger an my Engineering mind kicked into gear. Maybe there was a way to reboot the machine since it seemed to have some similarities to a Computer. I tried a few things with no success and I decided to call on my best friend......RUclips RUclips has bailed me out of jams more times than I can count so I proceeded to do some searching and I came across this posting which made alot of sense. Well, I watched the video and within 10 minutes Ole Adora was running like a champ!! Big Thanks to Linda Crawford!!!! Ya saved me about $1,000 for the purchase and installation for a new unit!!

Cycling the power by turning off the breaker for 30 seconds or so is easier in most cases. Our dishwasher gets in a confused state now and then and won’t run and cycling the power seems to bring it back to its senses. Most likely a bug in the GE firmware or software.

Did the lights come on though? If they did, but it still didnt finish a cycle, turn off the breaker to the dishwasher. Let it stay off several hours. Then try rebooting again.. Shut the dishwasher and dont press anything. It should empty the water out. Let it sit a day, then open it. If it lights up DONT TOUCH ANYTHING. Shut it and press start.. See if it finishes a cycle. If the green light comes on, then, its maybe good to go if you dont touch any buttons, dont change the cycle, dont push anything other than start...lol.. I'm not a repair person, just some one who took this as a challenge to get it running again. Or at least hold out till we can get a part. After rebooting and rebooting and rebooting, i figured it out..

So what if it’s still dead then does that mean it’s the control board ?

I guess... i'm not a repair person, i'm just cheap and hate to spend money.. But, i'm guessing if it didnt wake yours up, its the control board... Of course, make sure you have power going to it, check your breaker and make sure its plugged in good.. that would be the cheapest fix....
