The easiest and best set up I’ve seen. I have a tamarack also. I’m doing this next weekend!!👍🏻
How’d it turn out? Thinking about doing it to mine also
@@Cambaudio tried it out in my sisters lake worked great I’m a short woman with short arms so had to rig an extension on the handle
@@Cambaudio update I took my kayak to crystal river area and the motor set up worked great
I was thinking of similar design, so happy to see someone did it and it works that good!
thanks gives me faith for next season
Great idea! Thank you! I will do the same for my kayak! Cheers from Germany
Wow!!!!! That is AWESOME!
I am definitely doing this! Thanks for posting this.
great, easy and simple, I watch a million of them seems, i like yours best!
My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!
This is great! I might do something similar. Thanks for posting this video!
I did this to my kayak after watching this video! Made the same exact setup but used 5/16” bolts.
That's a great job so far, well done. I will be making myself one of these mounts in the next couple of days.
Just waiting for the trolling motor to be delivered. I have a spare piece of aluminium box section about the same size as yours.
Great idea, great job very well done.
Russell S Thank you sir
Thats awesome. Great project dude!
Great video, thanks mate, greetings from Australia.
Sweet, been looking everywhere for a reasonable idea. This is that.
Going to do this today! Thanks man. Got a subscribe/like from me
Awesome Buddy … Love it and I’m actually been looking for the best ways to do this.. and I found it !! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love it. Great video👍🙌
That is the best I have seen, thanks
Abt to embark on this project on my native manta ray 12xt. Putting a minnkota on. Thanks for showing us & wish me luck.
Best one yet!
Well done good and sturdy
Exactly what I was looking for, I didn't think of removing the hooks for a mounting spot.
BigRift hope it works for ya 👌🏻
Like the channel, better than board all the way side to side..Clean look
Im proud of you too. Occams razor. Gonna do this myself. Thanks. I was about to do some crazy shit with a 2x4 2 chains in an X shape using the seat clip locations and a small tensioner on each chain
Garrett Oneal lo thanks
This is badass! I’m doing this to my tamarack today, hopefully I can get the balance right like you did
Hope it works out
@@MatthewkingNC thanks great idea by the way, was going to utilize the rod holders but then I seen this and it’s way better
Hey mate great video, now I have already done almost the same thing as you but I found that the wing nuts became loose . So I drilled tiny holes into the wing nut handle 1 hole then used tie wire through each of the wing nuts so they didn’t unscrew 👍
Great man 👍🏻
I will be making this tomorrow I have that aluminium, great idea!
Wayne DeClue thank you. Hope it comes out good!
Where did u get the aluminum bar?
@@GEMSTONE74 I got it from a friend, he got it from his work as scrap. Sorry wish i could be more helpful.
Great videos no graphics and no stupid music
Good idea.
i am considering installing a side mount 35 lb thrust on my 14.5 Native , Yak has no pedal drive and my options are side or transom mount , As a 70 plus year old getting too anything is challenging especailly behind me , Realize transom mounted is best but have too fabriacate cables , shafts , pedal ,
Side mount seems so much easier , BUT will kayak trac too side its mounted on , with constant adjusting , will a rudder be needed ? Majoirty of time I am in ICW & St Johns River , ( florida ) strong cuttents Kayak is quite heavy , going against current no no were fast ,
Nice idea. Ive got the Lifetime Yukon. Which unfortunantly does not have a rear hatch. I may do mine by going through one of the flush mount rod holder holes. I dont use those rod holders anyways.
Just buy a Kayak Hatch on Ebay and add one
You also may be able to remove the rod holders and install a bolt though the hole at least a few inches away.
Great video/idea. How big is the steel square rod? (Is it 1 inch or bigger?). Do you know the thickness?? Thank you so much
Seriously Bro, It looks fucking Nice and strong,,,,,,i just finished mounting mine using pvc, i tought it was (ok)....until i saw yours..... i just realised how Much Time i lost,Cuz imma restart it all on monday.... Lol Nice mount Bro
Great idea!! One question.. can you pull motor out of Water?
how long is your steel square tubing on that kayak?
The kayak isn’t side heavy at all with the motor on that side? I’m thinking about mounting one on my stern but its a much bigger hassle
Advice, strips of rubber like from a bicycle tire tube between the aluminum and kayak
Is a counter weight needed at all? Or would it help?
Great 👍 job...it doesn't look ridiculous, as looking bulky and just plain stupid...my hat's off to you for probably the best idea seen yet....what kind of battery are you going to use? I am just really liking your idea and will be using your invention..👍👍
DS 2324 Thanks. I use a light weight lithium battery.
How bout you make me one? I'll pay......looks great.
Good job I would have just cut and put 3 more pieces of square tubing there
Did tomorrow ever come? LOL . Looking good so far.
Tim Gile there’s a part 2 on my channel.
Super nice good job but it would rust badly in salt water maybe I could use Aluminum
Bruce Bosco I only fish freshwater.
Forwarding this to a friend, he wants a kayak to fish with but cannot paddle because of a bad shoulder. If he gets one this should be a help.
Just be mindful of how much he weighs. I am only 180 pounds and with this trolling motor mount and battery I am almost pushing the weight limit with my fishing gear.
He's probably about 160 at most. I don't think he'll exceed the limits of a kayak.
I did something similar on my kayak and can’t control it for my life any tips? It just doesn’t go the way I want it too
CA Shark Hunters Shoot me an email of pictures. Kingfilmshd@gmail.com
See what you have going on.
It’s probably mounted to far forward
@@MatthewkingNC rip I never saw ur reply I ended up selling it I made a few hundred in profit :)
I built this mount but it’s not that stable with a 30lb thrust. Any ideals on how to make it more stable. The steel bar bends backward in 4th and 5th speed
timothy robinson the steel tubing bends? For what I used it worked perfect. Did you put it on a tamarack? Through the holes like I did? Use washers? How thick is your rod? Use treated wood for the mount?
M.E. King it’s really hard to explain what it’s doing over text. But yes I did everything you done with the same supplies and a tamarack kayak.
Thank you for responding so fast. I was able to fix the issue I was having. I wasn’t able to tight the wing nuts down enough with just my fingers so I used pliers and problem solved. Thank you
timothy robinson awesome. Glad it worked out. Because I was a little confused by what you meant. Mine set up is super stable so I wanted to help ya fix the problem.
M.E. King I really appreciate it! Good luck fishing this summer.
What is that noise bud but nise wip
Hi king! great idea. Can you link me with a motor for that price?
No I got it off season on sale
I want to thumbs down but i wont, here is why. You did an awsome job, i am going to copy you probably, but.. Weak plastic connection with your major stresses being that washer and a nut. Everything else that would be fine up to a trolling motor or a trolling rod pulling weight. I would drill and cut a sheet of metal to act as a backing. Get a good 2 1/2" by 8" connection on your boat as far as i can guess rather then two washers. Thumbs up if you agree?
TF is that noise?
What is that noise? Is it your DIY 30$ camera? Good DIY video otherwise👍
Great video. I have the exact same kayak. I actually just started a facebook group for Tamarack only owners. Join up - Tamarack Kayak Owners on Facebook.
Good video but your camera was driving me crazy! Really annoying
I'm confused. In your description, you say "(2) 3in 1/4 Screws with (2) washers". Did you mean: (2) 3" x 1/4" BOLTS with washers)..???
Yep i made one too, but 0$ so mines better ha ha !
Can’t be free!!
What's up with the weird squirting noises? Very annoying
Yeah I know. Camera was on automatic focus
