      It is the best thing I have ever build. We run it nearly every weekend since building about 5 years ago

      @@DEInTheGarage nice. I just finished one with the expanded metal, Webber grate, and bolted under pizza pan for ash. Loose chain for handle. Built my UDS from scrap but have several old tanks I want to repurpose! Will try this next.

    Step bit to drill the holes? What gauge metal is used on propane tanks?

    • @DEInTheGarage
      @DEInTheGarage  5 лет назад +3

      You are 100% correct. I didnt have one, so I made due, but a step bit would have made my life a TON easier. I think that tank is about 16

    Love that hefty clang of the thick metal when you hook the charcoal "basket" with your Subaru hook! Much better than the clinking of cheap sheet metal on a typical "made in China" grill. 😁

      @DEInTheGarage  5 лет назад +2

      Right?? There is really no need for such a heavy basket for this purpose, but that is how America got great... by over building things and making them to last. The country may have lost its way, but in D&E's garage that spirit is alive and well!

    Hey it's me again I'm here with an update. My dad took me out to learn to drive a manual transmission and I was learning in his I think it's a 1983 GMC Jimmy (GMC's version of a Chevy Blazer) and I was going and stopping in the back roads when I got pulled over by a police officer who I'm guessing thought the stopping and going and me not being the best at going in the first place which led to the truck to bob back and forth thought I was a drunk driver. So he pulled me over and saw me then saw my dad next to me in the passenger seat and was like oh your learning how to drive a manual after taking a glance at my Learners and my dad licence. A funny thing was as he was driving off next to me he gave a few tips like give it more gas as you pull foot of the clutch. Long story short I got pulled over while learning to drive stick and my dad said I did really well considering it was my first time. Oh and in the steam you did a while back I noticed you said my last name wrong then I noticed I spelled it wrong. *Goodbread

    A year later, do you think the propane tank was a good size for your drum? How long of a burn do you get from a full basket?

    I’m almost certain that hole saw you used is for wood

    • @DEInTheGarage
      @DEInTheGarage  5 лет назад

      It was technically for wood or soft metals, but the tank was likely too thick/hard for it. that was my mistake

  • @wildbill23c
