    great tip on the propane torch. I see a ton of uds builders try to burn that inner liner off with a weed burner, now it makes sense why they say it takes so long to do that way.

    I used paint stripper on the whole drum. Smear the stripper on and scrape off with a putty knife. Then a wire wheel in drill. Shines right up. Only took a couple hours to do the inside and out .

      I’m thinking your idea is less of a pain in the ass.

    I tried to burn the lid with a weed torch. It never did fit right after that. Lesson learned. Your way is spot on.

    A PROPANE WEED BURNER WORKS LIKE A CHAMP IF YOU HEAT THE OUTSIDE UP TO RED HOT. I DID THIS WITH MY BUILD, AND THE RED LINER TURNED TO ASH, AND WAS EASILY REMOVED WITH A WIRE BRUSH AND SANDPAPER. IF YOU TURN THE DRUM UPSIDE DOWN WHEN YOU HEAT IT, EVEN THE OUTSIDE PAINT NEXT TO THE BOTTOM BURNS OFF CLEAN.

    If it’s a food grade barrel do you have to take the gasket out? Just curious

    Is it absolutely imperative to remove this liner. Or more of a choice.

    Any ideas on where to find decent safe barrels? So far I’ve only been able to find ones that have foam resin or water based adhesive.

      I’ll be making a list of places soon. I have a new UDS Kit coming out on 11/15/22 and plan to have barrels available also.
      Be watching smokerplans.net for the launch!

    Can I just use an angle grinder to grind the paint on the inside of the drum instead of burning it off? what would be the pro's and cons?

    • @SmokerBuilder
      @SmokerBuilder  3 года назад +1

      Hey buddy! You could do this. The down side of it is it would take a really long time and make a lot of dust.

      @@SmokerBuilderThank you fro answering my question, I do have a follow up though. I talked to my friend and he suggested using a paint stripper, would that work too?- PS. I found the answer in the next comment. Thanks!
