Great vid Rex. I might be wrong but I believe those limiter parts are for the rear arms. Im building mine now & looks like for Tamiya's standard build "MR" these limiters are on the rear arms. If your switching setups, in my case im building the "FR" setup. On the 2nd page of the "FR" manual there is a small section that says its recommended to switch wheel positions. For my "FR" setup, I have the limiters installed on the rear arms. Did i do this right?
Interesting, I just check the manual and I do see on the MR conversion that pictures show the limiter in the rear! Holy moly! More discovery due to my lack of comprehensive reading 🤣 . Thanks for the information. Although, why do we need them in the back Tamiya?
Its really strange. Not sure if this was an oversight from Tamiya but I just noticed the box art shows MR with limiters on the back & then for FF & FR the limiters are on the front...I'm confused! I'm gonna leave mine on the rear for the FR setup. I can only guess its there to save the dogbones incase one of arm links pop off 🤷
If I had a nickel every time I used the wrong screw during a build, I'd be the nickel-king of BC! Lol! Great of you to go through this with us Rex. Have an excellent day!
These things happen, at least you found the issue, I am leaving my BT-01 as FR and used M03 stub axles that I had left over from back in the day. These don't have any drive cup to get in the way.
I think steering limiters are kind of silly in general. Like, your EPA can more or less take care of that. Anyway… it’s always fun to have to break the manual back out and humble yourself. Keep it up. Perfect Tamiya platform to introduce the shirt!
Rex, at first I thought you were a dingus but I'm starting to love your channel. Keep it going brother. I'm enjoying your journey and your love for Tamiya cars.
Dude, I thought I was the only one that leaves my Boo-Boo's in a video, LOL... I know, you did this to let people know to keep an eye out... Great video... And good to see you posting again!!!!!!!!!!!
Ooopps! It happens, especially with kits with a lot of similar screw sizes. I have had to back track steps and reclaim the correct screws I used in the wrong steps! The shirts are really cool REX!
Oh Addam, happens more often than people know so I’ll start sharing more raw unedited, videos like this. It seems people are starting to get tired of edited videos. Thank you so much for your purchase! Cant wait to see you rocking it in one of your videos 🤘
Hey Rex once the weight of the car is on the ground it will spin freely usually. Using after market shocks will further allow you to adjust the height of this. Ive just finished making mine 4WD super fun !
yes but in a corner where the inside wheel comes up to max extend the inside will be slowed down trying to make the car spin out. so better use shorter screws there or leave the limiters away.
Thanks! I tried to be less flashy and more authentic and natural in this video, I’m learning people are growing tired of fast edit adhd style videos. Appreciate your comment 🤘🙏
Heh, my first thought was to check the manual for screw length, as that would be a bit of a lazy oversight by Tamiya :D Seems like a bit of superfluis part tho, if there already is a limiter on the upper arm. Nice shirts too btw :D
Yeah, this isnt the first time I’ve done something wrong and wont be the last haha. Im curious why there is a steering limiter on both top and bottom, perhaps extra uneeded strength? Tamiya is funky. The shirts ship to your location as well, I have a supplier overseas 😉
Well, I put the diffs in the wrong way on my first TT-02, and had the front and rear wheels spin in opposite directions, which was weird for a moment. 😆 I dunno why tamiya would reinforce that, maybe they've had some issue with previous models they've encountered, and done a fix for it. :) @@rexrcs
@@tm5123 hahah my son and ai did that on his Lego dakar! We put it down and it didnt want to drive, lifted it and realized front wheels go backwards, rear wheels go forwards hahahaha
Hi REX. I think those screws are only for a front wheel drive setup, to avoid losing dogbones. I've just removed and tried in mid and front motor with rear drive and works fine. Greetings!!
Interesting, once I switch back to FF (probably never) I will look into your curious thought and see what we find, perhaps youre right, extra protection so we don’t lose dogbones like on the base TT-02 models. Appreciate you stopping in the chat 🤘
Owning up to mistakes shows strong character. Not that I've ever made that mistake... ever nope well Not since I started typing.... Bought two shirts. White T RWD for outside and a black longsleeve for sleeping. Because I'm definetly awd when I'm sleeping.
@rexrcs I have one. It's built to spec in rr drive and the body is cut out but not painted. The only reason I haven't sold it is because it fills a gap on my shelf that would need filling with something else.

Great and honest video Rex. But in the end I would leave off tbe limiters and dual-rate the steering.
Great to see you be honest 👍 a lot wouldnt. But i cant see why they would be needed still 🤔 but guess there is a valid reason ? Nice Tee’s aswell 👌
I assume there must be a reason, I just dont know what it is 😅

steering limitiers have one real use: if in a one off race class, make sure evryone has the same max steering.

But. I AM a dingus lol. Thanks for the encouragement!
Love your content, over the last few years they've been inspirational+enjoyable. Thanks.

It wasnt me dude. That manual should be more vocal in telling me how to build it (sarcasm). 😆. 🤘to many more mistakes in the future!

We all make mistakes, Rex, I know I do all the time! Nice shirts, Bro! 😎👌👍

very informative my friend!
Glad you commented because I just subbed. I have secret obsession with watching rc equipment do work
@@rexrcs thank you, all r.c. is awesome in my book!!!

Terrific RC sleuthing! Also, I really like the apparel designs. My Subie (1:1) is AWD... Sooooooo. I'll get at ya after April is over 🤟🏻
Thanks Anreen! Can’t wait to see it in one of your videos, AWD was intended originally for Subie owners
So the steering limiter is there for AWD so the shafts don't pop out or bind up, You can remove the steering limiter if you are running RWD.
Owning up to mistakes shows strong character. Not that I've ever made that mistake...
ever
nope
well

What mistake? It was the manual not making sure I checked the screw length. Wasnt me dude. 😆.
I appreciate it Rob! You going on Saturday?
Nope, got a full weekend this time@@rexrcs
I would think in fwd mode those limiters may keep stuff from breaking when you get some torque steer?
Possibly, interesting tbought
Was it shooting sparks?!?
I wish. I’d leave it like that if it did 😆
Same thing happened to me with the Super Hotshot I mixed the front and rear axels up "Stupid junk Tamiya! oops no just me...
Hahahaha right!? I see lots of videos of people blaming companies for our own mistakes all the time
The bt01, the chassis that just keeps on giving..... us more reasons to dislike it. Even if the wrong screw was used.....m
😅I hope you get to try one
