My doctors don't know the physiology of coughing. This is wonderful. I will share it with my doctors. Doctor and Patient relations are a mutual learning experience. I mean, a mutual information swap ...
These videos are so helpful in understanding the human body, and the drawings helps us to visually see what you are explaining! Thanks! Can you do a video on the pathophysiology of Cystic Fibrosis. Thank you!
TYPO/ERROR: NONproductive (dry cough) is associated with asthma and bronchitis- (I think you forgot to put the 'non' in front on 'productive' because you commence with Wet Cough (Productive) which is correctly suppurative diseases....
no it wouldnt i think. the stretching accomodates the sudden influx of a LOT of air (about 2.5 L). it would only decrease the pressure if there was a way for air to escape. but it cant because the glottis subsequently closes and the pressure is exacerbated by the compression.
I think during deep inspiration our ribs should move upward (bucket handle movement) with the help of external Intercostal muscle contraction so that horizontal volume would increase to help in air entering into the lungs
Hi Iam not a doctor or student but have sustained a complex injury to my neck, it began with a respiratory infection that I was dealing with, I had some neck pain and maneuvered my neck to relieve some pressure, and apon the maneuvering something happened immediately, my nose became dry my mouth became dry, and I was unable to propel a cough of mucus from my lungs, I also developed problems swallowing, started having achalasia like relfuxing, anytime I assperate into my lungs Iam unable to propel the assperation out of my lungs so my gag reflex is continuously activated as a result and now I can barely get enough food in me, can someone shed some light on what has happened to me, this video is the closest thing Ive found to explain it, I have no idea how to explain this medical professionals as it sounds pretty bizzare. Just looking for for info on who I should see and what I should do as I feel this is urgent to get looked at.
Yes! I just asked about how I have a gag reflex trigger that causes long bouts of intense discomfort and doesn't help me get the mucus out. I would like to see the answer to yours as well.
Thank you for your explanation. I do have a non-stop and non-deep coughing triggered only when the temperature drops below 65F often when I am sitting. It often starts with non-deep tickling feeling (just where the trachea splits) leading to the compelling desire to cough. It's often a short cough but at times it goes on and on with intermittent pauses. It stops when I move around and do some physical work. I am based in Belgium and would really appreciate if you PROMPTLY recommend any simple relief medication. Thanks, Paul
Does coughing too hard damage your epiglottis ? I coughted with force and my throats insides towards the left felt like it's been pierced with many needles.....is it dangerous to cough too hard?
Hmmmm. I have a wet cough with intense fits that trigger my smell sensitivity and gag reflex, leading to heaving/vomiting and the inability to breathe. (Not serious, but very stubborn) - Is this a possibly neurological response? Aside from gum and deep breathing, not much brings me out of it. Is it possible that I am training my brain (by repetition) to have these intense responses to my cough? This domino effect is very unpleasant and turns a little cough into a 20-30 minute physical drama.
The cough is unwanted irritated Before coughing : Vocal Cords hanging on and open widely During a coughing : Coughed is ready to mouth from vocal cords says Achoooooooo!!!!!!
@Moonlight Gamers these cold viruses have spikes that seek to attach themselves to receptors that we have NATURALLY on all our organs. you do the rest of the math you dope.
@Moonlight Gamers typical answers you get from google yet several months ago someone was doubting my suggestions/advice in front of a nephrologist and the nephrologist was COMPELLED to say i'm right. the doubter couldn't even look me in the face. feelin stupid, they just continued looking at the nephrologist and said "don't stroke his ego."......here's another one for you, i don't have a private doctor and when i had a convo about this several months ago with your typical USELESS m.d. i left her speechless. and curiously, that md didn't have a private md either. for the same reasons i don't have one. the only doctors i respect are surgeons and radiologists cuz they actually DO hands on, life changing work. pretty much every other doctor, you can read and know pretty much what they know. idk if you're in med school or not but don't think for a second that what's in med school books is "privileged information" because news flash, IT'S NOT.
@Moonlight Gamers first off, you say you can't confirm it because you're in denial too. are you serious!? wt hell does a neph know that's hard to learn or know?????? you get a blood test, check your creatinine levels and your egfr by looking at your # and the range of normalcy (usually to the right) and react if necessary. some guy, i don't think he was a nurse, he was some kind of hospital worker, not a p.a. but he actually taught me how to read blood work in real life in a freaking HOSPITAL STAIRWELL as i was leaving the hospital in nov 2016 when i went in for a blood test lol. no "prestigious university" needed. once you know this info what use is the neph????????????? all he gonna say 'eat less protein.' all THAT info is available online. once you get a blood test and you see the results you don't need a neph to know what to do. he can't help. he doesn't do surgery. and a regular physician is even worse/more useless cuz they don't even specialize in anything. what do you think happens when you go to a hospital?? a regular run of the mill physician sees you and depending on the symptoms refers you to a specialist. a neurologist, gastroenterologist, nephrologist, cardiologist, pulmonologist or perhaps an ENT. it took me a WHILE to realize this. i mean YEARS. as far as the condition you referenced, no idk what it is i can admit that. it's not a common illness nor is it a leading cause of death. don't even try and say it is lol. heart disease and cancer are. but anyway MANY, and i have seen and read this, MANY doctors don't know what conditions are off the top of their heads. all kinds of tests have to be run. and what do they do next??? they refer to something you might have heard of: the old PHYSICIAN DESK REFERENCE. and that was in the old days. in this age of technology, i'd be shocked if it's not available ONLINE. so now i ask you, if you're in the md office and you see the md refer to the pdr online instead of in a "book", what are you gonna call him? dr google???????????? and there are also MANY accredited universities ONLINE. people get legit degrees from there. what are you gonna call them?? illegitimate lol???????? and they wouldn't care less what you say or think when they're getting hired by some hospital. do you know how many people comment on these youtube medical videos who say they learn more from watching a physician explain something in a youtube video than they do in lecture hall?? not saying books are bad, no. but a thing or two can be learned online. heck, i once got a B in political science yet didn't know how many governors there were in the usa. didn't know a senator from a congressman. didn't know a republican from a democrat. you know where i learned ALL that??????????? watching cnn and fox CONSTANTLY for the last 6 years lmao. yes, from watching dam TV. i'd very likely get an A in that class now. btw, besides surgeons and radiologists, i also respect anesthesiologists. i actually respect microbiologist too know why??? cuz they actually DO stuff like trying to find cures for diseases. so yes i respect them. thank you very much.
@Moonlight Gamers @Moonlight Gamers you're not making sense. you "allegedly" can't confirm what i said about the neph and m.d., suggesting i'm lying yet you laugh and say it took me years to realize how little physicians know which suggests (correctly) that they don't know much. so if "everyone" (your words) knows what physicians do and don't do, why would you think *i'm* lying??? doesn't make sense. then you say i showed layman knowledge to a "specialist." well, this "specialist" didn't show me ANYTHING.......and i already told you i don't know what the kruger thing is. and i highly doubt a regular m.d. will know what it is also. you know it cuz you're in depth with this stuff.
I want to thank you for these videos! They are really entertaining. You're my favorite medical channel by far.

Thank you .keep posting and sharing knowledge
Thank you, Armando.
what about what causes the cough reflex to accurr?
Wouldn't the stretching of the expiratory muscles of the lungs cause a *decrease* in the pressure in the lungs rather than an increase?
What is correct bro
no it wouldnt i think. the stretching accomodates the sudden influx of a LOT of air (about 2.5 L). it would only decrease the pressure if there was a way for air to escape. but it cant because the glottis subsequently closes and the pressure is exacerbated by the compression.
Isn't a a dry cough associated with Asthma?
Great explanations , quick and effective...

I think productive cough and wet cough are similar. It should be 'dry cough' instead of productive cough during the cases of aasthma and bronchitis.
Simple representation.iam just started so u can easily learn all one by one
thank you
