Cheers to Frank, he literally had half a dozen guys looking over his shoulder as he worked plus it was being filmed, had an engine failure, kept his cool, remained professional and got the job done. Not everyone can do that.
No truer words mate... lots of pressure, but that cool approach shows how things can be turned around. Reckon this is one of the best yet on TSF channel.👍👍👍
What a beast! Last two videos in particular have been outstanding - just casually rebuilding an engine in a day and then having it crank out 900+ hp without breaking a sweat. Really looking forward to seeing this in the car.

Thanks for sharing the real deal not doctoring videos. Appreciate the straight up honesty. BBC for the win. They absolutely dialed the Engine in spares and all Hats Off. You boys and wives that gave you a hall pass to pull off an all nighter no way you got any sleep. !!!
Al has become the consummate professional in his on screen presentation. As a fellow RUclipsr and car enthusiast I know how hard it can be to say all the right things, remember everyone involved and convey your thought succinctly and entertainingly. Als, and of course Woody's love and approach is what elicits the right endorphins in fellow car professionals, therefore allowing them to open up their minds, hearts and knowledge to us backyardigans and provide solid as content. The respect between all parties is clearly visible and Als appreciation very evident. I can only hope one day to have such respect and content this good on my channel. Thanks you two.
I was so glad you guys called it where it was! I am so impressed with the power that relatively mild engine is churning out and I think it has 1130-1150hp potential with that same pulley setup if you rolled about 8 degrees of timing into it and revved it out to about 7300rpm!!! I gotta be honest, I was expecting this thing to make an honest 700-740 horsepower, so I'm impressed!! Think about the driveability of this thing! It's going to be a great big ball of fun!! The Smile Factory!! Great project and great video!!
The fact that Al was willing to stop that close to 1000hp on an engine that's going to be seen by a lot of people, really speaks to the fact that Al doesn't let his ego make decisions. Admirable trait.
I don't know if it's ego. Old cast Chevrolet BB are not the strongest things on earth, not compared to BB Chrysler and Ford 385 family. Weakness is the crank journals, then camshaft location and finally cylinder heads. Like Frank said, better off getting a Dart block and proper camshaft, it will do 1100 hp easy, no loss in reliability. You think making 1k hp is egotistical??? It's embarrassingly easy to do today no matter how many cylinders you have with forced induction. This case is better safe than sorry, already lunched a camshaft.
23:50 The sincerity and the look in the eye as that handshake was exchanged between Al and Frank, is up there with Als monologue at the end of ''project gramps''..Hits you in the feels!
