Don't even 2JZ's have to switch to full billet blocks once they get to this kind of power/RPM? I guess the uprated girdle and main blocks must make a big difference, but how much can a stock Barra block actually take!? That piston assembly is practically porn - really impressive how far the high end Barra stuff has come in recent times.
Have a look at "Wacky Mick" hes got a c20let turbo bedford van 500 bhp, which does under 10's in the quarter mile.
Love this and love the Barra though I don't understand why its being de stroked?? Nice work as always gent!
@@260nob9 without destroking the engine wont rev as hard. the stroke is currently too long relative to the bore size.
@@260nob9 rod angle is a big problem with high boost engines. the turbo maintains a high load on the piston all the way down the bore. so when the the big end is at it's widest point the rod is laying horizontal which tends to snap them . destroking reduces the flattening angle.
Should go ok
Might chirp second if you’re lucky
So when you need to stop do you just throw your giant balls out the window to work as a anchor?
I'd enjoy seeing this murder rowdessey in a roll
Any updates,
Nah, I gotta civic that'll roast ya
It's cool watching Yoda in the background just soaking in all of the knowledge in front of him. Never stop learning peeps.
Too right, no matter how much you learn, someone else will always know more.
Not necessarily know more. Just something you may not have come across.
He’s like a big hairy kid in a billet candy store.
After 40 years in machine shops, one thing I've learned is you befriend and hang around with the old guys. Cuz they know ish that you don't!
Unfortunately now I'M the old guy.....
Seeing a old Bedford pull on a commodore is priceless 👌😂🤣
Cracked me up aye 🤣
I used to deliver tv's in one of them a while ago (trying not to admit how old I am)!
If this engine business doesn't work out, Robbie can be an old dude fitness influencer.
no joke!
He's built like a brick shit house aye.
Goals
As an old dog at 50, whats his hastag # you young crew call it lol
Brick shithouses wish they were that solid! What an absolute silver fox lol
More Robbie please. He was great at explaining stuff.
Awesome :)
Only thing that might top this is a compound turbo fed Barra.
@@brendo7363
Does a compound setup actually make more power earlier on those? Every time I see one done on a gasoline powered car/truck it always seems like it makes the same or slightly worse power than it would with just a big single. Good idea but I rarely see it executed well.
@@negativeindustrial I really don't know mate, I'm just a retard on the internet.
The point is that (Dandy engines' project), like this high RPM project, it's something different and exciting.
As a consumer of automotive entertainment, that's what it's all about for me.
@@negativeindustrial compound helps with downlow but hurts up top a bit

Thank you
Robby there the kind of guy who's forgotten more than I'll ever know. Good stuff.
Compared to a RANK AMATEUR... they know 100 times what I know about engines and cars. But I LOVE watching all kinds of youboob channels of REAL experts. Guys (and gals) who know their ish frontwards and backwards.
well firstly, Millsi is completely insane and I love it. Second, Robby clearly knows his stuff, that's the kind of guy you want working on your kit!
When this Bedford launches, its gunna rotate the earth on its axis.
Full send it 👌👌
Future generations will wonder at Millsy, even as the present wonders at him now.
6:29 Google Search history: "If I have backwards knees can I sleep standing up?" -- OK Woody, time for a story....
What the actual f...
EDIT: Nice catch, btw. 😂
how the hell did you even see that??? classic
hahah
Came here to say this.
I'd also like to know how the hell you caught that. That's hilarious
And people wonder why it costs so much to build an engine properly. His hourly rate includes the 20-30 years of experience. Great work fellas!
I think the invoicing goes like this:
Tightening the bolts: $30
Knowing how and how far to tighten them: $500
The Bedford will be mental !! Already was... doing a rb30/25 build soon may have to go visit Robbie as he is local for us as well
Do it Tyler, or do I start with the p*ssy comments (again)? 😛 Join the club and learn the pain of spending the same as your house deposit on an engine capable of 1500hp. 😈👍 Nananananananana I can't hear you Paige! 🤣
Absolute boss of an engine builder. Let the views go to the moon
Great episode! Watching Robbie and his experience building the Barra was awesome
Robbie is a sorcerer!
As they say in that legendary ol' Aussie flick:
"Speed's just a question of money: how fast do you wanna go?"
That moment of the 2019 Drag Week where you needed to find an engine shop in North Carolina and Robbie came in and was the hero of the day was excellent.
The spontaneous hospitality of the American locals was excellent and would do the same.
Robbie is a legend. This old van is going to be insane
1500HP for 2k fellas well done!
20k is closer ..
rods, crank, pistons are 10k alone.

2k barra 😂
@@Mr_jz_12 That's cheap really
The Bedford build was one of the best builds on RUclips due to the amount of re design / build of parts to get the Barra in. I am really glad this build is back it’s going to be very interesting.
The usual 'thumb up' for the content, and two more for correctly using lb-ft, rather than ft-lb which is actually work done.👍👍👍
So, a trip across the Pacific in the future for the Bedstead? It'll confuse the heck out of our American buddies 🤣
As a mechanic myself, thanks for keeping in some of the really detailed information. Was awesome to listen to you both have a technical conversation over an awesome engine.
2k barra
"Garage built"
Think you spelt 20k wrong
Michael Shannon you spelled parts only wrong. Lol
Either way fun is going to be had... ice cream... check.
TX2K barra
Robbie seems like the nicest engine builder you'll ever meet, nice work guys!
Watching these two Aussie blokes talk about those shiny parts is like a work of art thanks for the upload guys.
Watching Robbie apply his craft to a Barra was awesome and I noticed there were no power tools only hand tools.
only youtubers use power tools, craftsmen use hand tools
@@grug440 True that
Love this video guys.
Millsi is a lunatic and I'm here for it.
Robby is clearly a gun. No BS, meticulous, genuine, and super knowledgeable.
Robby clearly has a couple of guns.
@@Harris.Justus cannons in fact
I went in the van at powercruise yeah ur right the blokes insane wanting more power 😂😂
Good to see that Bedford again, it was that build that got me watching the Skid Factory 🤙
considering how good an average boosted barra sounds, i cannot wait for this thing to hit 10k with boost on, its going to sound incredible
😂
the level of appreciation for craftsmanship really makes this channel. All the different aspects of knowing and sharing! your craft. Awesome stuff
This was an excellent video.
Robby knows his stuff, and made it relatively easy to follow along.
Complex stuff but interesting to watch.
Robbie is an absolute legend. Love seeing passionate craftmanship!
Awesome..your video quality and presentation is leaps and bounds from when you started. I had my engine geek fix this morning so thanks guys and well done
Great video. It’s nice to watch somebody that knows what they’re doing and confident in doing it. 🤙🏼
Thank's Alan, Woody & Robbie, building Barra's is what we like.
Bedford back in the shop means Herbert will be back as TA and Van lurker!
Absolutely sensational stuff...! What an absolute belter of a motor. Great to see masters at work who explain stuff in layman's terms without any smoke and mirrorsn or bullshit. Well shot and edited too. Great package, well done fellas...!
Great episode Al enjoy watching professor Robert explaining step by step
Well done fellas and as others have said, love the level of detail you go into in terms of degreeing in the cam and fire ring crush etc. Also awesome watchin Robbie go about his work.
As we move in the electric age of motor vehicles, I do hope that this wonderful knowledge and craftsmanship of building amazing combustion engines is preserved in some shape or form ...
Awesome job guys - thanks for installing Kelford Cams
That workshop looks cleaner then some restaraunts!
The attention to detail, and the explanation of the sealing rings, so clear and easy to understand why!
Robbie Abbott a true blue Aussie Bloke
Robbie looks like he can whoop some a$$! Bet hes messed some people up in his day. That hurricane episode is one of my favorites. Good onya Robbie.
Back in the day I reckon he would have caused a bit of carnage at the local pup 😂😉
You guys addressed every single thing I wanted to know amazing video I thoroughly enjoyed it
Thanks for this video! 😊
A long long time ago (lol) I worked in an engine shop, and it makes my day to see Robbie doing his thing and handing out knowlede. Two dead set legends that don't talk any bullshit = ✔🖒
Fully enjoyed that, U.K. resident here and have always had a love from destroked and engines so loved the idea of this!
Was hooked throughout, sometimes these full depth can lead to jumping through but watched the length!
Cripes! CAD is almost at par with AUD, that is one heck of a crankshaft. I'm convinced you get what you pay for, but that crank costs more than most heaps I buy and drive 😂
10k for rods, pistons and crank alone.
Bedford van are my chilhood dreamvan...just seen a 1500hp Barra Bedford Van is a dream come true
Awesome episode. Never seen that sealing method with the ring and gasket separately. Great stuff
Robbie is on another level, amazing knowledge and skill
"I'm going to stick a $35,000 engine in a Bedford" - Millsy
I have no idea... is it that much?
So good to be back and seeing these legends in action👌🏻
Thanks for sharing so much technical detail. Especially the part about the fire ring crush over the gasket thickness. I've talked to so many "Pros" about this over the years, and frankly if they work with RB's they shrug their shoulders. Half the reason I've been o-ringing instead, which comes with its own set of issues.
Mad skilz... can't wait to hear it run. Thanks guys.
Robby seems like a sound dude! It's nice to see some one who appreciates good quality machining and design. Not just the standard "ooooo it's shiny so it must be good" I had wondered in the past about axial roller bearings as thrusts people always think they don't need something until they need it.
I'm sure Millsi's real reason for this is he wanted the 700hp barra for his mower.
Well done guys. And I really can't wait to hear this monster
Plainly ridiculous...very well done, the world needs far more crazy stuff these days.
Nailing it again :-)
Wow, nitto makes rotating assemblies as well as tires. You learn something new every day!
Excellent work, many thanks for sharing this info guys, you guys are saints!
That's a pretty hectic build, looking forward to seeing and hearing it go!
This think is going to sound brutal. Love the craziness in these builds!
im a young guy in the u.s. we don't have berra but learning about the timing wheel and the cam centers was very informative for me today.
A bit more detailed than Engine Masters, eh?
@@alexbrown1995 yeah I learn alot of information about 1uz/2jz here that's also not exactly common knowledge in the states.
Yo that custom cam is sick. Props to the manufacture.
More content like this guys. Awesome build with great technological info!

Learned more about cam timing than I ever had before Thanks Robbie
Bedford Van. I’m impressed.👍
I just can't wait to hear this thing rip man! high RPM straight 6 will sound epic!
Gee would love to get me hands on your first barra to throw in my bedford!!!
Awesome job guys, I'm inspired now.
Love that blokes attention to detail. Awesome work
Nice work from Robby from Abbott Engines!
How good is it watching someone at the absolute top of there game 👌
You guys are my go-to Tues after work viewing!
x2!
Robbie is the type of bloke you wish you could have a beer and BBQ with. Cheers fellas!
Robbie looks like he pulls engines without a hoist.
I just had knee surgery ,i wish you blokes had done it!
Are you sure? Have you *seen* Woody's knees? 😖
Brilliant video guys!
Thank you for letting me see all of the engine building.
Thanks Robby 👍🏻 good explanations
Love unique builds like this.
Always interesting seeing true masters show off their craft, going to be a screamer i reckon :)
The copper/bronze gasket reminded me of the same trick done to my Kawasaki big bored bike back in the eighties, as no gasket existed for this mod at the time. I had a copper ring and groove in barrel, just annealed it and apply torque.
Cant wait to see this engine in action, interesting build.
I can't wait to hear this thing rev up!
Wow, I am so out of my competence zone with this, Robbie taught me something new almost every time he spoke !
And that engine is GOOOORGEOUS
Millsy and his 1-MEGAWATT Bedford. Absolute unhinged madness.
High performance build and … Al is most interested in getting a nice new ring compressor just like Robby’s. Good to have your priorities straight! 🙂 Good tools are important.
Early as I have ever been except when I was 16! AL is great!
old mate is JACKED! could torque the head up with one hand
This was cool guys, can't wait to hear it sing!
Can't wait to hear those big cams rumbling 😍
Sick! Can’t wait to see that run
10k rpm i cant effin wait to hear this thing
Robbie is a gun and that’s why he builds my engines. Top bloke and no bullshit.
There is a guy in WA that has manufactured a Alloy Barra block. Id love to see a build with that. The future of Barras will eventually have to be custom because they ain't making any more of them. (Wonder who has the original cast molds etc)
All scrapped..casting plant is now just a block of land
Robbie is as sane and sensible as Milsy isn't. That seems like the right way around.
Some days I think I've learned enough from The Skid Factory to rebuild and customize my whole Mustang... and then there's days when I watch the teachers learn and i think I better buy a new transmission and pay to have my engine rebuilt. Keep up the
GREAT work guys!!
I pulled mine apart myself last week, engine out, valvesprings, studs, billet oil pump, HD timing chain billet sprocket, Full exhaust, stage 2 intercooler, air box, 1000cc injectors, external gate, fuel reg. gtx ii 3584 turbo 460 pump. Just dropped it off for the tune. Hoping it comes back 400kw on 98
Never knew they sold them as Bedfords outside the UK. Thats sick!!
Thanks Guys what an interesting build .
