I guess the uprated girdle and main blocks must make a big difference, but how much can a stock Barra block actually take!? That piston assembly is practically porn - really impressive how far the high end Barra stuff has come in recent times.
@@260nob9 rod angle is a big problem with high boost engines. the turbo maintains a high load on the piston all the way down the bore. so when the the big end is at it's widest point the rod is laying horizontal which tends to snap them . destroking reduces the flattening angle.
Compared to a RANK AMATEUR... they know 100 times what I know about engines and cars. But I LOVE watching all kinds of youboob channels of REAL experts. Guys (and gals) who know their ish frontwards and backwards.

The Bedford build was one of the best builds on RUclips due to the amount of re design / build of parts to get the Barra in. I am really glad this build is back it’s going to be very interesting.

I've talked to so many "Pros" about this over the years, and frankly if they work with RB's they shrug their shoulders. Half the reason I've been o-ringing instead, which comes with its own set of issues.
Robby seems like a sound dude! It's nice to see some one who appreciates good quality machining and design. Not just the standard "ooooo it's shiny so it must be good" I had wondered in the past about axial roller bearings as thrusts people always think they don't need something until they need it.
Some days I think I've learned enough from The Skid Factory to rebuild and customize my whole Mustang... and then there's days when I watch the teachers learn and i think I better buy a new transmission and pay to have my engine rebuilt. Keep up the GREAT work guys!!
The copper/bronze gasket reminded me of the same trick done to my Kawasaki big bored bike back in the eighties, as no gasket existed for this mod at the time. I had a copper ring and groove in barrel, just annealed it and apply torque. Cant wait to see this engine in action, interesting build.

The conversions crack me up. Then again I'm an American engineer, so I live my life going between the units. So, 1.34 hp/kw, so 1340 hp. Also 0.220" is ~5.5mm at 0.040" is ~1mm. That's the easy off the cough number. Love the destroker. Cool build.

Cripes! CAD is almost at par with AUD, that is one heck of a crankshaft. I'm convinced you get what you pay for, but that crank costs more than most heaps I buy and drive 😂

Apart from the specific made tapered ring compressors (which only fit one specific bore), I think these deceptively simple plier-type ring compressors are the best. 500+ engines further and I still use the same one I bought 25 years ago. Tweak them a bit conical and store them with care.
Just binge watched all 17 episodes of the bedford build. The most unusual thing about the build was a registered rm250 and a richard branson duck sanctuary
It's a Hybrid RM/RMX250. Millsi built it frame up and I rode it for a year or so then sold it back to him and he is re rebuilding it from frame up. Yes, Millsi is also an insane dirt biker. Not sure about the duck sanctuary but Branson does own an island near here.
There is a guy in WA that has manufactured a Alloy Barra block. Id love to see a build with that. The future of Barras will eventually have to be custom because they ain't making any more of them. (Wonder who has the original cast molds etc)

Have a look at "Wacky Mick" hes got a c20let turbo bedford van 500 bhp, which does under 10's in the quarter mile.

Still using the oil splash plate with the girdle which is awesome many people toss that plate away and just fit the girdle

I think the invoicing goes like this:
Tightening the bolts: $30
Knowing how and how far to tighten them: $500
