- Huge thanks to the guys at Bullet Race Engineering for giving me a peek at the already made full CNC machine billet Ford Barra engine blocks. They do look amazing and it has me thinking... Maybe
Anyway, comment below, how much power do you think they'll handle and how fast will people go with them?
To check out all of the Bullet gear, head to www.bulletraceengineering.com.au or find them on Facebook or Instagram under the same name.

Australia needs to start manufacturing cars again. Regardless of domestic price. For such a small population, you have had such a huge positive influence on the automotive industry world wide.
our Westminster clowns traded manufacturing for quantitative population growth, creditbubbles & speculative mania.
Ford maintains a ‘development centre’ in Australia. Look up their website for details.
@@AlienLivesMatter Try watching America's Shadow Government Series 2 Episode 1 - "The Game is Rigged." I think it's still up on SBS Catch Up. It explores the US car industry. It is very well researched.
All our local car industry wanted was $19 government subsidy per car. Compare that to Germany's $200ish. Idiot Hockey said, "Poor people don't drive cars." What a dope! Gawd I hate Right Wing government almost more than I hate religious zealots. At least with religious zealots know you're a nobody heathen going to hell. Right Wing governments rip the guts out of education and workers rights then tell the workers if they still want jobs they had to do it because of the Left.
holy crap, that makes sense, all those workers in the former factories machinists and so on, they aren't the type to just sit around when shops close up.
@@AlienLivesMatter Ever heard of the New World Order? Yea, your government is in on it and it's happening right now. We are on the road to the end.
No Attitude...no Ego....just Aussie being Aussie flying the flag. Makes a petrol head proud. 🤘🇭🇲
What an incredible workshop. Bloody brilliant to see world-leading products being made right here in Australia.
Yes, in little old Holden hill south Australia.
Australia has many well engineered products like the Ford Barra engine which is only now being discovered by American Tuners.
Australia has some great engineering and manufacturing capacity and has to restart its manufacturing operations.
When push comes to shove, many international manufacturing close their manufacturing here because their governments give incentives to restart manufacturing back in their home country leaving many talented Australians out of work.
Australia needs to be self sufficient and restart manufacturing / design on their own.
Agreed
What about the Internals for the block
Nice vid Boxer great to see Aussie manufacturing 👍
🇦🇺🤙🏻
Living in Adelaide. I've had the privilege to visit them (and had a head ported + some other work.) It's a pretty wild shop.
They've also got an engine dyno hidden away.
Well said. Demand your local govt does something about local manufacturing when voting comes up next.
Well there goes the 2k barra
Aussie everythinging...like good good food, it's always better when cooked from raw
Wasn't that long ago the only thing making 3000hp was top fuelers .
Incredible
Good point!
There is a 3000+hp billet block Nissan TB48 stroked to 5.2L in a C7 Corvette in America that dominated all 6cyl and 8cyl classes that are full of 3000+hp big block Nova's
Great job Aussies brothers I'm from the USA you guys do great jobs with your billet work super nice pieces
seeing all the best engines of the past still being made restores my faith in humanity during this time of yucky boring electric car stuff.
Agreed :)
Outstanding to see Aussies pushing the envelope, a wish list item would be the 304/308 Billet Block
Anyone running a Barra billet block yet from Bullet?
A small block 327 would be a dream in billit,
These guys are so good, making great engineering decisions. I hope they make a lot of money and great engines.
Agreed
Evolution for these legendary engines! The future looks epic!
Well done to these guys!
Thats if they leave us alone....
Very soon these engines wont be allowed to run because of the CO,2....
You watch, as soon as they have enough electric cars on road....they,ll come up with some crap law thatll say.....if you drive a car with internal combustion....youre only allowed to go to work and home....the rest of time electric must be used....
Thats why all over the world they call us the nanny state
I own a Falcon with the LPG Barra and I have been sad about such a beautiful motor not being manufactured anymore , but they are and aluminum as well .
Steve Morris is into Barra stuff now…. If he’s into it they must be a good thing…. Well done to you Aussies….
Hell yeah. Steve is awesome too. Hope to catch up with him at some stage.
Jack Brabham..
Only bloke in history to build, race and win F1 championship...
Great to see Aussie manufacturers doin well!!
Barra, 2J, RB, choose your poison. The world would be a boring place if everyone agreed what was best. I'm just stoked to see Aussie companies on the cutting edge.
Well said 👍🏻🇦🇺
Holden 304..
TB48
2jz 3.0, rb30 3.0, but the barra is a 4.0
I have a couple of businesses in that complex helping with my ba wagon build, glad you put this up Boxer. Coming from a machining background this is porn.
These barras are gonna change the game big time
Agreed
It's refreshing to see Aussie know how at work. I'm sure they will be sellning them left right and centre! Would you ever go
billet?
Potentially. They’re a bloody nice bit of gear
Go the Ford Barra.👍👍👍 Would love to see the CNC/Machining process of the Barra block. I know it would be hard to film with the coolant flying everywhere. I just love that stuff.
I love watching that stuff too
I have been watching the BARRA from a far but this lights a 🔥. I would love to pull up here in New Jersey with that under the hood. Love a good sleeper. Great video
Hit up HP Junkie here in Australia. He’ll build you an awesome engine 💪🏻🇦🇺🇺🇸
Was just talking to a guy Ive been working with on his drag car, about another car he's working on that's getting a Billet SBF. Not just purchase price but the maintenance schedule for that level of power is just insane!
Would love to see a complete engine, start to finish in time lapse. Great video showing the marriage of technology and quality.
We’ll be filming my new engine going back together. Not sure if it’ll be billet yet, but if the subs keep growing and awesome people support the channel, it could be possible!
Truly amazing work and its Australian made too. Great job
Very informative video, prices ain't bad either i was expecting much more
Great video. Really enjoyed it.
Incredible work!
Awesome video mate. Great to see 👍
Great work Darren been watching from a far, you have obviously done some major education to get to this level, well done mate 👏👏👏
Done some major education.
Ha ha ha. Unlike you.
To think that I was surprised to see the prices for crank girdles on a barra, for my greentop, today.
Then you drop this vid!
Can't wait to see how the get "built" up!
Horsepower heroes next Jan?!
Thank you. Beautiful kit and apparently superb engineering. I love the dual oil feed capability, especially as I am currently reading ‘The Secret Horsepower Race’ by Calum E. Douglas; and I recently watched Ian Tyrell’s video on how to start older cars.
How good is this! You legit just got them my build!
Stumbled onto this channel, I'm dehydrated now from drooling so much, I love there logo Cast aint Fast!
In my mind these are pure art. I could stand watch these been made all day.
Same!
Hi from the UK they are a work of art true craftsmanship !!!!!
Frankly this could be exciting. When I was in college about 45 years ago we built a stove-bolt chevy 6 that ran at the front of the "slow v8 pack in Colorado Springs. I mentioned CS because it was not Denver which would have been at another level but neither was it some little Podunk little burg in the middle of nowhere as long as it STAYED TOGETHER which wasn't allllllll that long!!! We ran a single barrel Rochester carb which most of you guys have probably never seen! It worked for us!!
the Barra is a beast of a block. From my reading and listening it is a bigger 2J!!! The biggest problem is that it's so big that it takes up a lot of space and is then tough to find a space it's fit into!!
A billet flat head would be cool af
How good are they keeping the dream alive 👍
Great vid. Beautiful products.
Wow ... Nice ... Greetings from US Army NORTHCOM
Bullet race engineering are at the top of the game.
Best blocks in the world in my eyes.
🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼🍀🍀🍀😎
No there not 😂
This bloke is carrying Australian racing industry’s on his back 😂
Almost ;)
Awesome content mate, I'll have one of the 304 billet blocks with heads to match thanks.. And great to see an Australian workshop exporting to the US 🇭🇲👍
They’re doing an amazing job
It's like a Terminator factory. Suddenly my old 5.0i Windsor isn't looking so great.
nice to see the old 308 / 304 still getting some modern R&D :D
New 304s.. wow :) that's very cool, I would expect these blocks can be repaired if you have rod failure also
Amazing stuff...no other words.
Amazing blocks, all new and beautiful, and fkn swarf everywhere, my ocd is triggered. Also great to see the whole process, with the cad too.
Great Aussie manufacturers good luck we need more
Im an straight 6 nut, always have been and love my Ford inlines. However i also love 2JZs and RBs so there is no real comparison in my eyes. Barra is still affordable to source though, so easy cheap street power. Anyway for people to get all salty and debate about the Barra as an competitor i think is high praise for our what were local built engines. Anyone knocking on Japans automotive doorstep earns instant respect in my eyes
i kinda disagree with you i do believe the barra is a competitor to the 2jz if anything superior to it
@@petrospago3515 too tall and heavy. For power yeah they are amazing but going fast in a straight line is just one part of a performance car.
@@jameswozny2701 your point?
@@petrospago3515 I just said it dopey boy, too tall and heavy for it to be an overall competitor to the 2jz or RB.
@@jameswozny2701 i can tell you are a die hard JDM fanboy let me tell you this the barra is barely taller and heavier than the rb and the 2jz with higher power potential than those 2 so having a slight weight disadvantage isn't gonna be of any negative effect when it has every other advantage in performance especially now that it gets a billet makeover
Such amazing machining, a work of art.
Straya's kicking ass with the billet jawns and custom parts.
I would love to have one of these. I would need to upgrade brakes, diff, transmission and suspension. A bottomless pit of money. Itd be a lot of fun
Just get a parachute
This is the future, I'd like to see one in a Factory six cylinder cortina and see how it handles with the weight saving =O
Great vid... Very interesting.
Drool! Amazing setup
Good work, I always wanted to see and hear a six litre version of the Bara…
Works of art!
Awesome watch 👌
Great Video.
Great vid, soo good to see an aussie business selling quality stuff
This guy is brilliant!!!👍🤙✌❤
These guys are good enough to straight up make their own engine design.
They should be crazy and make something silly like a straight eight barra.
Straight 12 Barra
...or follow V12LS and go V12 Barra 😱💪
Straight 6 is enherently balanced
5 cylinder barra would make good noises and fit in more things.
This is fantastic
This guy is the Steve Morris of Australia! With all the billet engines 👍🏼
Great video
I just keep thinking to myself, damn those are gorgeous!
Its cool they use haas machines all the way in AUS. I love them for aluminum and other softer materials
v8 holden block to would be a good one to do i love the barra maybe make them for 550 hp to to 1000 great work i dream to open manufacturing of cars in Australia if i win lotto
Very cool,I make jet engines and a lot of military work at my shop,if this guy ever wants to have a shop make some engines in the states,we would be all over it. CNC lathe/mill turn machinist setup lead hand.
great interesting vid thanks
I love Barras. When I first heard about them 6 years ago, I wondered why they arnt mainstream yet!? The torque number can already be made to surpass a 2j… but then it’s billet!!! That’s a real gamechanger. They move some serious air boys check the statistics!!!
Indeedy
They’re definitely mainstream in Aus. Lol
Car jewels 💎 💪🏻🏁
What a great Aussie!
This is awesome
The place where dreams are made!
man those blocks look pretty.
Omg, that place is true kid in a candy store material. 15k for a billet block is outrageously cheap, these things are going to pop up everywhere around the world and dominate.
There’s already loads of people making crazy power with them with RB and 2J blocks 👌🏻
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fascinating.
Thanks for post!! Very interesting!!! It's a shame the Barra block isn't available in the states. I think the single overhead cam is a great idea. Double overhead cam engines are two fragile. When i was in college half century ago we built a 6 cylinder chevy stovebolt that ran at the front of the slow v8 pack as long as it stayed together!!!!
There's loads of Barras in the US now and companies like Horsepower Junkie can definitely build you a crazy one to be shipped over :)
Barra double overhead cams are not fragile at all mine has done over 450 k and runs great and my turbo fg has done 375k and gets trashed every day without any problems
Definitely NOT fragile
Riddle me this... If they're building drag race blocks and heads from scratch why not add a couple more head studs per cylinder to give the head gasket some extra support and clamping load? The work they do is awesome! Great video
They're not making custom one off bits that you need custom stuff for. These billet block are an off the shelf part and a standard barras gear can pretty much drop right in
Yep..
Yepp...
Yep..
So yeah🤣🤣🤣.... classic 👌
Nice work lads
Showing the yanks how its done!
Awesome innovation, go Aussie
They could have a dry sump & rear mounted gearbox, ie the gearbox mounted against the diff, life a Alfa, a 928 or some Merc Sports cars
Aussie Ford Falcon must be proud compared to merc, I serviced many Taxi Ford over 700k km. and beside Camry Taxi 400k + km done. However, ford needs a lot more to do, I am sure we can jump over German products.
Most of those German cars are made in different countries now anyway. #barratheworld
Crest cnc did a billet Barra a couple of years ago.
Absolutely 💯
Fantastic engineering, are you tempted to build a hybrid engine featuring all the good things from RB, JZ & Barra engines?
Haha, imagine the stress that would cause people
Long live the Barra 💪
some very cool shit in that workshop.
Makes me keen to get the old 4.1 falcon going. They were a tough motor.
Check out the awesome video FullBOOST did on the turbo 4.1 Falcon
@@HoonTV Hell yeah they are over designed they can take it. I used to pull 90km/h in first gear in the old 3 speed auto.
Glad to see a Barra. What about the TB48 guys?
He mentions it in the video ;)
What an interesting vid
Awesome, this means the Barra boys can join the RB boys in building cars that have zero components from the parent factory - and still claim to be Ford and Nissan brigade...
Still had a ford head
The dying breath of the fire breathing monster.
TY
Need to make a Barra V 12 8 litre. JUST FOR FUN.
I could imagine this in a jey boat. Be wicked
Should be making billet Mazda 3 blocks.
What after production machining needs to be done before it's built.
Eg. Bored and honed.
Decked the block
Lime hone cams and crank ect.
All of that
@@HoonTV appreciate the reply. Thank You
I hope it doesn’t get van like other fords great ideas!!!! “Remember that engine that was van from nascar”? I do, and it suck.
That’s just incredible stuff absolutely love it be nice to know how they get the cooling passages in any ideas of the grade of Ali! and weather the billets r a forging ? I guess they must b to get the strength they want brilliant stuff amazing what they can do how many hours in a Barra block? 😎
Depending on the tune, how it's built, coolant, drag vs Street. Too many variables. These are built to be serviceable.
"Billet" means "forged", otherwise it's a casting (ingot).
Forging removes any porosity from the "as poured" ingots ("pigs").
In production, it's not a "billet", until it's been forged.
