Growing up in the 80s, me and my cousins would get to the wrestling matches hours early to meet the wrestlers as they arrived at the venue. We learned very quickly who was cool and who was an a-hole. Fast forward to 2004 on my honeymoon in Jamaica, I met the Rock at the resort we were staying at. Hands down one of the nicest people you can hope to meet. Down to earth dude and very personable.
I understood why Patrice didn't see anything in Bautista. Prior to his wrestling career the dude just had a bland personality, wrestling is more so about the look than the talent. You can always learn to wrestle, but it's quite clear that most wrestlers are physical specimens or have a distinguished look, they perfect their craft on the job
I think it’s the opposite actually, you can get far in the wwe if you are great on the mic. Having a great physical body gets you further quicker especially during the Vince era but if you couldn’t talk on the mic the fans wouldn’t really fuck with you after a certain amount of time.
