anyone who is surprised by the installation of that front tow strap, has obviously failed to notice the hideous wheels on the Air Hauler truck. While Matt exhibits outstanding work ethic and passion to succeed, his style choices are occasionally influenced by his Forza/GTA inner child.
Just lose the tow strap for everyday driving! Buy the cap and have a clean front end. The fabric will end up being dirty and scratching the bumper paint.
Hey Matt. I’ve just binge watched the whole of the series of the 997. Great job and looking forward to it being 100% finished. Absolutely gorgeous car buddy
Don't leave the tow strap on there. It doesn't look as cool as you think, it could cause damage if you hit something, and the fabric is going to flap in the windand scuff the crap out of your nice shiny paint.
For vag connectors use a 90 degree/reach around pick and lift up the tab and then pull, comes off easier than any other connector ever, spray it out w some air when going back in esp bumper connectors as dirt makes it extremely annoying
Hey Matt, she’s coming along really nicely. Don’t be so hard on yourself - you built one car out of two from the bare chassis, so if that’s all that’s wrong I think you’re laughing! You said from a “guy with no experience”, but you have quite a bit of experience now so enjoy the fruits of your labors! Thanks for sharing.

Totally agree Matt, the Porsche connectors are awful. Cannot tell you how many I mangled on my 997 Turbo. For a German car company you'd think they would do better.
@@matt13ross it's right up my street what you done is exactly what I would do. The colour the mods classay and tasteful! Well done on a good job! Can't wait to see the m3 e30 be done!
TIP: Modern automotive connectors release more easily if you push the plug further into the connector, press the release catch, and then pull the plug out.
Keep the tow straps if you want to, but please, when the car is running, use a tube to get the exhaust fumes out of the garage. Even with open doors, it is toxic enough.
It looks like the electrical connectors are like VW and Audi. If so, it helps to squeeze the connector together while pulling back on the release tab. That will let the release tab actually unhook, then pull apart. Pulling on the connector and release tab at the same time is futile. I learned this trying to change the oil pressure sensor on a VW R32 which is in an almost impossible spot.
Car is looking great Matt. About that oil line, you may have stopped the leak, but those metal fittings don't look great. Plus the rubber is probably...how old? Don't think you have to go to Porsche or some name brand off FCP Euro for a replacement. Lots of cities have hydraulic line shops that just make lines. A/C, trans cooler lines, oil lines, power steering lines, you name it. And they're usually waaaaay cheaper.
That is a sweet looking 997 Matt. Still looking for my perfect 996 or 997. Just driven immaculate 996 turbo X50 in blue. This may be the one. Will send you some pictures when I have it.
Push in the conector, push on the ridge on the tab.....pull and it will do a "poop" sound. Its a tight fit, silicon gasket and spray som WD-40 or siliconspray befor assembly. Weelcome from Sweden
I don't know that I love the tow strap, but, I do love it more than the wheels on your truck. :D Great work on the mods, car is really coming together. Now don't JB weld any more fuel parts.
Recommend a 12V winch at the nose of your trailer, they can be had for under $200, as much work as you do in your garage installing one there might be a good idea as well OR just make your trailer winch removable
Hey where do you get the brass, aluminum washer kit ? Do you have all the washer size for doing the oil change in this kit ? Nice videos keep going !!🤙
Mobil1 0W40 is not the best oil for these cars - not enough moly. Look into Driven racing oils and avoid bore scoring. From personal experience: my car use to tick after sitting for 2+ weeks.
