My mind is just spinning at the thought of having to reinstall all that wiring!! You’re awesome for tackling this project. I’m really enjoying the series.
You have my admiration sir! Oh to have the enthusiasm and energy of my youth once again…. But maybe I will just enjoy driving my P car instead!
My mind is also spinning lol
Matt you are bugging 😂😂😂 so much work dude
You are doing an amazing job on a very complex car and project. I appreciate your video style, commentary and editing, not to mention your persistence and hard work.
Thanks so much!
Wow! Personally, I would have elected for the frame repair on the gray car. Having rebuilt two auctioned Boxster’s, I know how much work was going to go into the body swap. My stress levels are through the roof watching this! I really can’t imagine how the hell you’re going to get this together and know I couldn’t. Also, your editing is among the best and the work involved in that as well as filming is beyond next level.
One of the best things you can do when frustrated is take a 10-20 minute break. Studies have shown that your subconscious mind will continue to think about what you were working on, and often produce an answer or idea in that 10-20 minute period.
I like that, gonna use it more often!
Bro im so hyped this car is gonna be absolutely stunning when its finished! Keep it up matt we believe lol
Thanks for the support! I’m gonna need it lol
Wow Matt you are one patient man! I would be losing my cool 😂
Wow monumental project - perfect for you !
Holy crap! I thought taking the dash and all the wiring out and rewiring my '66 Lincoln from scratch was a major pain. Liked and sub'd just for your hard work. Not a Porsche guy per se but I can appreciate good content and a nice car. Glad I came a long months after so I can binge on your vids.
It was a lot of wiring for sure. I can only imagine brand new ones! Thanks for the support!
I love this project so much!!!!
Epic build, so good
Holy smokes😅 I’m getting ptsd just thinking about having to reinstall all that wiring😰
Keep at it, it's going to be awesome once finished❤
J H Christ🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hooked to this channel. Raw footage combined with a lot of authenticity! Please keep it that way 😊
Thank you! Will do!
Just think of it like this Matt ..you're gonna be a Porsche expert when you're done...Plus you will have another bad ass ride....keep up the good work and keep pushing forward .. enjoy the videos..
Thanks!!
This was painful to watch. I really admire your courage, dedication and patience on this project 💯💪
On top of all this hard work, you’re getting great camera angles and then kill it editing.. This channel should blow up soon.
The video taping adds so much time!!
Should you tape up the clock spring that was behind the steering wheel to stop it turning in error? Save a lot of hassle down the line....
good lord that's a mountain of work still to do with the wiring man god damn 😳😬
Good job on organizing the bolts, don’t be like ratarosa 😂
This is my new favorite 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I love Porsches.
Coming soon in January 2032, the first test drive video. Porsche USA hire this man stat as a Master Porsche Mechanic/Social Media Exec. He has demonstrated his knowledge and love for the brand and does not know the words fail or quit.
Bahahaha this is great
Such a nightmare! doing this kind of wiring transplant is so much work so literally the most of the work on all the project. I love the way you work and the patience, at least what you show here, the level of patience is admirable
Thanks so much!
I restored a few 911 including turbo’s but what you doing a big bow ! Greetings from holland
Thanks!
I said on the video where you were deciding on which chassis to use that you should just fix the original chassis. So far I stand by that comment. This is great for content, but I fear for your sanity.
I fear that too lol
I'm exhausted just watching you Matt. I admire your determination. Fingers crossed you can get all the wiring back and functioning. Amazed .!!!
Where is your next vid I’m having withdrawal symptoms
Thanks for checking! Been really busy but a new video should be out Sunday if I can finish it up.
Cannot believe the foam in the vents came out intact. That's amazingly rare. Almost all of these cars have an issue where the foam decomposes and blows out the vents at some point. It must have been kept in a climate controlled environment.
My 08 with 157k miles still has the vent foam holding up well. It's surprising
LETS GO BRANDON! Great video editing
Appreciate it!!
Have you decided on a color yet? Got to get it resprayed before installing stuff.
I think so….
Overwhelming, gotta admire your work ethic and persistence ! I am sure it will be worth it, but man....
That ball of wires looks like the box of xmas lights everyones parents had in the attic . I know youll figure it out but damn... I used a bunch of large stackable storage tubs from Walmart to store the parts ..work pretty well
youre a certified madman
Before re-installing it, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to degrease check and cover it with new cloth tape. Some parts of it really look in a sorry state.
Congrats on the Techron gig.
Ensure you lock that steering column and do not rotate it. Otherwise I see a broken expensive clock spring coming your way
This gives me so much anxiety… kudos Matt you’re so brave🫡🫡
Custom covers for bolts in non-visible locations that serve no purpose other than to make a tech's life miserable. How very German.
what an amazing mess of wires. I definitely would not have the patience to do this properly. Keep it up.
AMAZING JOB 🤍👍🏼
I think I would just leave this in a corner of my house like one of those giant puzzles that when a visit came he/she puts one piece at a time and take years to complete 😆
Now i want to see how they install that harness at the factory. Equipment i work on has also become a wiring nightmare. Well done sorting that out.
Watching all these videos, i strongly believe that the most difficult part is just moving the camera from spot to spot, in order to capture all the places....
Just continue, you are doing great!
The camera is such a pain!! So much work to get good shots. Thank you!
Boy I hope you have taken a thousand pictures and video from start to finish but I’m so impressed and enjoying this build it’s now one of my favourites 👍🏴
Thanks a bunch!
I am watching every vídeo from Brazil!
Wow what a detailed video and toally maze of wiring well done for your peserverance
i think you need all of the workshop manual pretty soon this is a good investment for sure worth the money and can save you lot of headache
I've got it!
@@matt13ross good man i look at all the tear down the harness is crazy all the interior and all the mechanical side your going to need some kind of info from the workshop to redo the orange car. I don't know how you don't feel overwhelmed ! Im telling you the only elway to explain my feelings when i look at the video is you Mat have freaking big ball to do that kind of a project... imagine when your going to first start it !! The emotional gonna be on the roof !!!
You still hookin and bookin and doing all this? Haven’t see the energy drinks in awhile
In the background lol
Right on man. Stay safe, my wife and I really enjoy your videos. Thanks!
It’s going to take you weeks to rebuild that dashboard…wonder if you could get a full manual???
I’ve got the whole manual online thankfully.
How do you eat an Elephant?......1 bite at a time, you got this Matt
Im always here to help just looking to learn and be a helping hand aroung the shop
I'd murder myself if I had to do this job. LMAO
Good luck getting all that back in the donor car. This is really a series on how to build a car piece by piece from scratch!
Holy Fooking Shit Matt. Nicely done.
Good luck man. You are absolutely out of your mind (in a good way 😊). Loving the progress. Keep it up.
Great content.
About to sleep and Matt posts another banger must watch episode!
Hahah good!
Hi Mat,
As soon as you announced you were doing a body swap on your 997 Turbo, I thought that's a huge task to undertake!
Whilst I could probably do the mechanical component of the swap, I knew that the electrical wiring loom would be a major challenge.
This latest video shows me just how complicated & time consuming this aspect of the swap is & huge respect to you for undertaking this on your own. 👍👍👍
I'm sure your methodical approach, with lots of labelling & photos/videos, will see you through to a successful conclusion!
Keep up the great work & looking forward to the next episode!
Thanks! I’m a little overwhelmed currently lol
Can you say Porsche spaghetti??🍝
Like I suggested in your last video "Jack Daniels No7" help me with Blood Flow back into my body after dealing with Automotive Wiring. Yes, I have lots of experience in Automotive Wiring. Don't give up the ship Matt. As for the Interior, aren't you glad you cleaned all that interior up before removal? How depressing it would be working in all that dirt and grime. A very good suggestion is arrange for one of those POD's to be delivered to your house to store all the parts. It's worth the time and $$$ for your sanity. Never say die.
Yea I’m glad it was not covered in dirt for sure lol.
Dude, I am so glad I found this channel. I'm looking at buying a 996 for a daily. The big factor was the maintenance, which I was kind of hesitant about since everything I find online is things like a $700 dvd/book about rebuilding the motors. So I feel like I'm having a little trouble finding reasonable resources. Do you have any recommendations?
// I love how "honest" the channel is, feels relatable as a dude also just working in his garage.
I wouldn't worry about rebuilding the engine unless it has major issues. These things seem to run forever but an engine rebuild is super expensive.
Thanks for the kind words!
Good job - I am amazed that you haven't broken the steering wheel stalks (indicator, wiper, etc.) - don't they come of the steering column easily?
The less I take off the better
80's vibe soundtrack 👍
Incredible work. I've just finished rebuilding part of the engine from my 997s so had to pull it out. Replaced the cooling system at the same time. My next job is to replace the airbox as the a/c evaporator is leaking so this video is very helpful as the dash has to come out!
Those sound like awful jobs, so good luck! haha
Matt Ross has lost his mind.
Holy schnitzel snacks.
U can get alot of money for all the parts you dont need 🙌🏻🙌🏻
You clearly love what you do because it's one thing to take it apart, but then put it back together!! My God!!! RESPECT!!!
this is soooo sick!! Mad props on taking such project!! You're really a 1 man army doing this!!
Thank you!
I hope you can play this in reverse later on. Cool project! I completely stripped out EVERYTHING from a suburban for the doner 5.3 in my E92 ls swap. Incredible feat to think about restoring like what you are doing. Great content.
Porsche Jedi.. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Oh man overwhelming! It felt like you did it on a weekend not two weeks. Video magic. Great work and entertaining.
Keep up the amazing work
Great stuff! I like all added camera movement effects you’ve added. Cannot wait for the install haha
Thanks! New video coming tomorrow.
Finally he uploaded today
Lot of work making this one!
My anxiety is thru the roof just thinking about having to reinstall that dash in a car with a windshield in it.
You’re a stud for doing this bro. Thanks for bringing us along for the journey.
Bro u give me inspiration to get my project done
Getting anxiety looking at those wires
What a f***ing mess of cables....
How the hell are you gonna refit that, I know you labelled it and took photos but man that is a hell of a lot of work, good luck!
Can only go in one way! (Hopefully)
This is why my vote was to fix the grey car lol
Still rooting for all this to work out and be worth it of course!!
I have faith!
Reminds me of alex rebuilds
Give your dog a pat for me, a total random internet stranger.
Also, this video makes me appreciate my Toyota that much more. So much easier to do major surgery. This reminds me of my 91 Taurus SHO's engineering. Hidden, needlessly complex everything.
Pets given!
@@matt13ross ♥️♥️♥️
Bloody great job! Thanks for taking us along with you.
My pleasure!
Thats insane, I knew there was a lot of wiring in really new cars but thats more than Ithought
And this isn’t even that new lol
Your doing okay my friend
Take plenty of photos Matt
Whichever parts went into/ onto the car last need to come off first. =)
Yup
Hi Matt id redo the foam on flap inside the heater box while its out. On my 996 its all disintegrated..people replace it with aluminum tape
Looking into that!
One word... Respect!
dude you’re very patient
Now your cooking on gas!
That's a lot of work and patience there Matt, well done.
At least you're filming it for reference purposes
Yup!
Far from easy, I paid 4k to have that dash pulled. It is a 3 day job for a pro that does it all year long. So PLEAE BE PATIENT, you wll be rewarded with one of the best driving/road handling manual cars in history! Replace the EVAPORATOR under the glove.
4K??? Yikes! Why was it pulled?
@@matt13ross
The AC evaporator went bad. It had a leak and the Freon was escaping .To replace it the dash has to come out because it’s behind it. He also cleaned out the air ducts that were spitting little foam pieces. Both my 996 and 997tt did the same thing. Fixed now.
Ah I see. That's an awful repair job to do.
Nothing can prepare you for this kind of work Matt. I really admire your willingness to approach this as I know that even Porsche specialists would want to avoid this sort of work.....at all cost! Well done mate, I hope you`re rewarded with a fantastic car at the end of this mammoth project.
Appreciate that, thank you!
Amazing work!
Bravo Matt for the hard work.....
That interior + the wiring is going to be a mountain of work to fully transplant. Good on you for taking on this project
I think after the interior, the rest will go smoothly.
top notch episode.
