  • Jared Longshore discusses three timely advantages of postmillennialism.
This video is presented by Canon Press.
"At the present moment there is a strong temptation to retreat. Retreat fits the bill if there is no eschatological hope. But, if Christ reigns unto victory, then we can march on toward that victory. He leads us in triumphal procession after all. How can we not get on with that procession?"

I love the post millennial view. No matter where or what resistance I experience when proclaiming the truth of the Gospel, I can stand with the confidence of a victor, knowing who my King is and who has already been defeated. Knowing that final resolution may not be in this life now, but I will still be a witness in my eternal life with Him to come. There is nothing greater or better than that. Praise God.

As an American Christian naturally I was dispensationalist most of my life. When I became Reformed it became obvious that such a view could not possibly be right so I found myself trending to some form of Amil but with little confidence that I really had it nailed down. So now I find myself unsure but hoping that the Post Mils are correct.

Postmillennialism requires responsibility and accountability therefore most adopt for an amillennial I'm not sureism that they (feel) absolves them or worse dispensationalism that allows the door open to a I told you so posture when things get tough and they can sit on their hands instead of lifting them to The King of Kings and His help

For me it is was realizing that Jesus, in the gospels, doesn't talk about "the gospel" like most modern Christians understand "the gospel," which is basically about "my personal salvation and relationship with Christ." Jesus in the gospels talks about "the gospel of the Kingdom, or the 'good news' of the Kingdom." This is much more than the "good news of MY salvation." It is about the Kingdom - the "King's Domain!" - and that is huge, in fact, it encompasses EVERYTHING - the ENTIRE CREATION! The gospel is about the good news that the Kingdom is here, in time and space and spirit, and is about the reclamation, reformation, and restoration of the Kingdom back to God in everything, every area of His Domain. He has given us the task of dominion in all areas. From Paradise Lost to Paradise Restored. Until the church gets to work on this great commission and the obedience that comes from faith and starts to "win," we shouldn't expect the Lord to return. We have been given a job to do, until the Lord's enemies are all His footstool. Most of the church today doesn't understand this (at least not in any consistent way).

"For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, [7] and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, [8] dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus." (2 Thessalonians 2:6-8)

I've listened thru both Flanuer Records 17 part series & Voddie Bauchem's 20 part series on the Amillenial perspective teaching thru the book of the Revelation. Flanuer Record is top notch 👌. Jesus said my Kingdom is not of this world.
I've been studying the SDA's Ellen White SOP book and following along with their weekly Sunday Law mark of the beast update where they cherry pick anything the RCC has said about moving toward a government mandate of observing Sundays as God's day of rest. Its pretty scary stuff mainly because these hard-core SDA's truly believe that Ellen White received divine visions of the future from an Angel. Disturbing.
Then you have the pre trib rapture folks who totally disregard the statement Jesus said, " and after the tribulation of those days." and can't seem to consider the apparent difference between tribulation and wrath. Or separate the Day of Christ and the Day of the Lord. Or Jesus saying At the last day. Or Saint Peter saying seeing all things are dissolved. Or the Psalms saying the gathering together of the congregation and judgement of the wicked.
Or Zionists.. John Hagee said he has found passages in the book of Daniel that confirms a pretrib rapture but he didn't have enough time to exojesus it using scripture. Dr. Heiser said if a temple is built in Jerusalem it has no eschatologic significance at all. In fact it is direct conflict to the temple Jesus built out of us and himself being the head. So confusing. And so many smart people differ so greatly.
I've listened to Pastor Wilson unpack the Post Millennial system.. I still don't get it. I don't see where you get it from the Bible. Jesus Christ went to prepare a place for us and that's what we should be thinking about. That and the great commission. We wrestle not with flesh and blood. Trust God first.
The risen Jesus had to open the minds of his disciples for them to realize that his death, burial, and resurrection was indeed the victory. Maybe my mind needs to be opened to this Post Millennial system.
I lost my line of thought. Grow in grace and the knowledge of our God & Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen

Postmil and not wrestling with flesh and blood are consistent to me. The Kingdom on earth will not be established by passing laws, but by changing hearts and spreading the gospel to more people. In fact, crazy laws and bad government make people more interested in the gospel in my experience.

    Part 2/3
I have been a student of Bible prophecy for about 30 years and in the financial arena and a student of global geopolitics for over 20. I don't say this to brag but I hope that I have at least learned a few things over that time I can share that might be a blessing.
I am more of a pre-millennialist than any other view. Again you can disagree with me but I do not hold this view because of any denominational or "left behind" book series. I have a very good life and a young boy that I love so there is no reason for me to hold the view I do except that God is God. God has made promises in His Word that until they are fulfilled need to be fulfilled. He is a God of His Word and all of it will be fulfilled. In Romans 11 Paul writes.
I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew.
    In Verses 25-27 Paul writes
    25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own [f]opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be [g]saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;
27 For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.”
If we look at Ezekiel 37 we see God promise something
21 “Then say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. 23 They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God."
If we look at Jeremiah 24 God promises something.
3 Then the Lord said to me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?”
And I said, “Figs, the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, which cannot be eaten, they are so bad.”
4 Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 5 “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘Like these good figs, so will I [a]acknowledge those who are carried away captive from Judah, whom I have sent out of this place for their own good, into the land of the Chaldeans. 6 For I will set My eyes on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land; I will build them and not pull them down, and I will plant them and not pluck them up. 7 Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.
8 ‘And as the bad figs which cannot be eaten, they are so bad’-surely thus says the Lord-‘so will I give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, his princes, the residue of Jerusalem who remain in this land, and those who dwell in the land of Egypt.
If we look at the time period God is speaking to Jewish prophets about the Jews. There is no Church or Christians in 500BC.
God promises in numerous places that He has not forgotten the Jewish people, nor has He forgotten His promises.
You see we like to decide what promises God meant for the Jewish people and which are meant for us. I'm not sure when we came up with this idea that we get to decide which promises God fulfills and with whom He fulfills them.
Paul, post-Resurrection says God has not forgotten the Jewish people, that they are partially blinded for a specific time and then the blinders will be removed and they will be saved.
So What if... we take these words to mean exactly what they say? That one day God will save the Jewish people, that He will gather them from all parts of the world and back into the Promised Land and they will not be a divided nation but unified with Him as their God forever.
We have all heard the term "Antichrist" and if we examine the word which is a Greek word, we see that the prefix "Anti" means "in opposition to" or "in place of" and Christ means "Anointed One."
In John 5:43 Jesus says 43 "I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive."
The Jewish people rejected Jesus as their Messiah which Isaiah foretold so it was meant to happen. But from their perspective, they have been waiting for 2500+ years for the Messiah to arrive. In all that time they have never declared a Messiah until 2020 came.
    www.israeltoday.co.il/read/israeli-rabbi-says-hes-already-holding-meetings-with-messiah/
Now if we look at Matthew 24 depending on the translation we either see "Christ" (Greek) or "Messiah" (Hebrew) both mean "Anointed One" depending on the language.
5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. NKJV
5 for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. NLT
So the Greek term Antichrist could be the equivalent to the False Messiah in place of the true Messiah.
Where the Jewish people declare and receive a false Messiah.
There are tonnes of examples I could give like this one as to why I believe what I believe but let me give you a couple to ponder.
Remember Jesus's words in Matthew 24
6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for [a]all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, [b]pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
If we were to read this today I believe it would sound like this
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars that will trouble or alarm (some other translations use "alarm) you because nation will rise against nation and kingdom (today's equivalent would be empire or superpower) against kingdom and it will seem like the end of the world has come but do not be troubled because it's not the end.
    Continued in Part 3.

By stepping back and viewing the entire biblical panoply I see that God has always had just ONE people, Jew and Gentile who have believed God's promises and trusted his salvific provision. That was Paul's ecclesiastical argument when he referenced Abraham. And that is why we see non-Jews in the lineage of Christ.

I am surprised by your assumption that the things you said in this video are not believed by Christian Brothers who are premillenial. Would you say that Grace to You Church and all the Brethren there, including Dr. John MacArthur and Phil Johnson are pessimistic? Would you say that Dr. Steve Lawson is pessimistic? I agree these are good men who rest in the assurance of ultimate victory of Christ and their faithful ministry is a testament to that fact, but I think it is also fair to say that the premillennialism I have been around my entire life does breed a culture of defeatism that there is no hope until Christ returns to rule rather than standing firm knowing that the gospel of our Christ will ultimately over come the apostasy of our culture. Christ must reign until he has placed all his enemies under his feet, the increase of his government will not end as the zeal of the Lord Host will accomplish this. I think you need to consider Jared’s observations as generic not specific. Blessings
The Lord says to my Lord:
      “Sit at My right hand
Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”
The Lord will stretch forth Your strong scepter from Zion, saying,
“Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”
      Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power;
In holy array, from the womb of the dawn,
Your youth are to You as the dew.
      - Psalm 110:1-3
For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be abolished is death. For He has put all things in subjection under His feet. -1 Corinthians 15:25-27a
      For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
      And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
      Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace,
On the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness
      From then on and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.
      - Isaiah 9:6-7

Believing things will get worse and worse is not an optimistic take on the world and Christ's impact on it... And is therefore pessimistic. You have to ask "will the Father's will be done on earth as it is in heaven"? Is doom and gloom and then a rescue mission God's will for our future? Or is it the knowledge of the Lord covering the waters, the obedience of the nations, and Abraham's offspring being as the sands of the sea? Will all of God's enemies be made a footstool for Christ as He sits at the Father's right hand?

    For now I am amill.
And friendly reminder in a form of question. Correct me if I am wrong.
It seems to me that when Jesus died on a cross, it was like defeat from mans perspective, but it is the moment of very triumph over devil and death. And then was resurrected, triumph in complete sense. Isn't it the same with regard to the church? We will be defeated by the world (Rev.13:7) in terms of earthly kingdoms, but then boom, and we will be resurrected, and this will be a real triumph!
Because our kindom is in another dimention. Remember Abraham and his longing to heavenly city.
And the last one. If we should be conformed to the image of Christ as Paul described it in Phil.3:10-11, shell we be ready to identify ourselves with sufferings and death of Christ as well?
I wish postmill was right, but as I study eschatology I see that people of God have to pass through the way of rejection, sufferings and death for the Glory of Christ. So was in every generation. And I see that the Kindom of God must come from above.
So, that is my perspective, and I open to discussion. God bless You!

I wouldn't want to stray too far from what scripture directly says by going too deep down your chain of inferences, but I don't disagree per se.
The "defeater" for postmil is always to pull up the headlines, note the decline of the church in the western world and proclaim postmil false. But what if victory looks like the church emerging stronger and triumphant through times like these? It isn't like this is the first time the church has been under attack, and we are no where near as bad as when Jerusalem, and later North Africa, was the center of Christianity. Yet those times that the church "fell" ended up making it stronger and Christianity spread all the further because of it. The winner of a war is often enough the one who appears to be losing halfway through, yet I am convinced that Christ will lead his Church to victory over all worldly powers through the power of the gospel in good time.

    Part 1/2
I am all for a healthy debate on these topics but denialism is also dangerous.
God will unfold the future only 1 way, His way. not ours, not what we vote is most popular, His and His alone. This means that many of our views are incorrect since they are not the same. If we have 3 separate distinct views on the future then at best only 1 is correct and at worst all 3 are which is a problem if our beliefs cause us to be blind and unaware. Voting on which view is the most pessimistic or optimistic from our view is irrelevant in God's plan. Would any one of us have thought of the death of our Savior as "optimistic"? No. God sees beyond the immediate to His goal to save humanity.
I agree that if you have accepted Christ as your Savior and are covered by His blood then you are saved and your eternal future is secure.
However, what about everyone else's? The question of Eschatology isn't about your salvation, but about everyone else's who doesn't yet believe. So seeing it from our perspective is absurd because we already believe.
When describing His arrest and eventual execution Jesus in John 13:19 says
19 "Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am."
In 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Paul tells us how people in his day were saved.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,..."
"According to the Scriptures" Which means that the unbelieving could read the Scriptures and see what was written in the past about the future come to pass in their present so that they may believe that Jesus is the I AM and be saved.
God also presented 500+ eyewitnesses to Jesus's resurrection to verify the Scriptures.
The Bible is an entire collection of God telling us what He will do, then doing it and having witnesses to the fulfillment of His Word. Not for those who already believe (although that would strengthen their faith) but for those who don't yet believe.
Noah preached that the floods would come for over 100 years and when those floods came and Noah and his family were safely in the Ark. How many on the outside as they drew their final breaths do you think repented and believed? Maybe the flood wasn't just about the 8 in the Ark but the millions, maybe billions outside of the Ark.
God doesn't need us to spread His message. He uses us as He sees fit. Since Eschatology is about those who aren't yet saved then we need to see how God uses eschatology to save people.
Jesus said "Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am."
If we're an unbeliever then what is the most likely way God has written about the future?
Paul writes that the events that occurred -Jesus's death, and resurrection happened exactly as it was foretold according to the Scriptures.
The Flood came exactly as the LORD said He would.
I think a great confusion as I would put it is that we separate beliefs. Postmillenials as I understand it focus on the Heavenly reign of Christ and Pre-millennialists focus on the earthly reign of Christ. God has always been Sovereign over all of reality.
    Isaiah 46:9-11
From what I can see, many see the Pre-millennialist view as degrading to God because of its seeming lack of victory by God and the seeming victory of the enemy. Except isn't that what happened at the cross? Didn't it seem like the enemy had won, when in fact He was defeated?
In my view Eschatology is simply what God has written in the past, playing out at some point in the future as the present. Just like all the Messianic prophecies were foretold about real events that unfolded during a specific "present" time period when Jesus came the first time.
God has all the Glory because He never holds it over us. He came as a servant, He was born in a manager, He was born to a couple who weren't married (very controversial), He was born as a carpenters son, He had no possessions, no home, no retirement savings, He died as He lived, loving everyone He knew. God has designed a plan we could not come up with ourselves for humanity. There are many times throughout Scripture where it seems evil has won but God's glory shines through.
I want to for a moment ask "What if...?" regardless of your eschatological view I want you to simply ask yourself for a moment "what if...?"
In Matthew 24 Jesus is asked
3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
4 And Jesus answered and said to them:..."
Jesus could have said, "that is not for you to know." But He didn't instead He listed events that would happen in our world, not in the heavenly realm. Things to watch for just as we were given things to watch for at His first coming.
Now for a moment, we need to ask does Jesus sound optimistic or pessimistic?
5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.
The phrase "beginning of sorrows" in the NASB says "the beginning of birth pains."
Now I could go on but let's examine this passage. These are all things we are familiar with, regardless of the century these words of wars, famines earthquakes, etc aren't foreign to us. We also believe that "Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it."
Well, the Bible tells us this as well. In Luke 17 Jesus says His return will be like the days of Noah and Lot which tells us that whatever those days were like will repeat themselves. When we look at those days in Genesis do they sound like good days?
Now maybe my view is wrong but what I do is I look at reality. My beliefs aren't based on traditions or denominational beliefs but on an understanding that whatever reality is, is God's plan and that is what dictates to me what the Bible means.
God doesn't need us to believe in His plan for His plan to succeed. At the cross, as Jesus died, whatever belief people had that He was God or the Messiah died as well. No one had risen from the dead under their own power before Jesus, so watching Him die would have ended their belief and that's what we read. They fled, and hid, but their faith or beliefs wasn't essential to His plan and our beliefs aren't essential to His plan today.
Now I know that for many this topic is divisive because it creates fear. We fear that if we are pessimistic then somehow we rob God of His glory. That we need to be optimistic and upbeat because that's what is required. You'd literally have to be reading a different book other than the Bible to reach this conclusion. God has never abdicated His Throne, not even at the Crucifixion, but God has given authority to the kingdom of darkness of this world. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4. Jesus's return isn't about the heavenly realm, He already controls that and always has, it's about the restoration and the final defeat of the "god of this world" here.
This is what Zechariah 14 is all about. An earthly reign.
I assume (maybe in error) that we believe that Jesus was born of a literal virgin in the real town of Bethlehem, that He was from the line of David, and that He actually was beaten and broken and executed for real, for us.
There are over 100 actual events predicted in the Bible that Jesus fulfilled.
And in Mathew 24 Jesus says
21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be..."
You would think that the flood or the crucifixion would have been one of the incomparable times in human history but Jesus says it's yet to come (at the time He said it).
Since we know history repeats itself then isn't it possible that these things have yet to happen?
Jesus says in Matthew 24:6 all these things must come to pass,..." in verse 36 He says "...till all these things take place."
What if... "All these things" means that in the past or future there will be times when only some of these things happen?
What if... at different times only some things have happened and therefore the time when "all these things" happen has not happened yet?
Now you can debate with me and that's ok but I want to ask you what would shake your faith to the core?
I may be wrong in my understanding and if I am then I will be held to account. However, my concern is that if I am right many will lose faith and fall away because their faith will be so shaken that they won't recover.
In Part 2 I will share my view (which may be completely wrong.) but why I believe 1 Thessalonians 4:3 and 1 timothy 4:1 which talk about apostasy and falling away from the faith will happen over the next few years in ways we can't comprehend. Again, I could be wrong, but that is why I share this is because if it does unfold, maybe some will not lose faith by reading this and just having it in the back of their mind.
    Continued in Part 2.

Love ya Jared, but this is what happens when your brain 🧠 is on #datpostmill. I realize the Bible is what determines our eschatology. But, emotionally, I find postmill horribly depressing.

How is the fact that Christ is reigning and the world will be saved depressing?

Postmillennialism, isn't that just back tracking and re-swizzling the failed prophecies?
You're the fragrance of the knowledge of christ? That doesn't work. It's corny and a reach.
    Confidence. More like a Con.
    Guarantee indeed.
