  • Today, two unknown drivers compare a 2023 MK8 Golf R DSG with a stage 1 e85 tune and a 2019 Mustang GT 10-speed with a 91 tune.

    the weight difference, awd system and fast dual clutch transmission combined with a tune on the golf really is outstanding! against a 10 speed mustang with a tune! personally i'm cheap and don't like the risk of power mods but i digress. great video showing performance capabilities!

    Your R moves out well man for a stage 1 tune but that e grade is helping you top end for sure. You hung right there with that tuned Stang. I wish we had e where I live - gotta settle with 93/94 pump gas....

      yeah we have one public e-station within 50 miles, and our top is 92 so you have to buy race fuel if you want to run certain tunes

    not even 20 sec into the vid and the viper decides to make some noise, i was gonna say it hops forward everytime it shifts but i think it just has more rpm ,maybe a bit longer gears to, i dont know its hard to say,. But super close races for sure

    Is this R on a flex e-85 tune or full e-85?
    I think an e85 a10 GT vs a Stage 2 e85 and trans tune(if they ever become available) R would be interesting to see.

    I'm not surprised he's like 700lb's lighter if not more on Boost and E85.. The E85 along with more boost can add 200 more HP to the MK8 along with a weight savings and there's the win.. But the Mustang Boosted and Tuned is Next level. We're talking 800 wheel pretty easy but then the trans goes depending on what you have.. Even just an E85 tune for a GT adds like 60/70 wheel.. I know it's expensive but I'm going to do a stage 1 93 Whipple and tune not going to chase number's but if it lands on a safe 680 700ish wheel I'll be real happy.. That's more than enough power to deal with some Downpipes and Boost Tunes.. I know the deal I've had a few turbo Hatchbacks over the years, but the Mustang GT with any Gen Coyote is always going to be my choice..

      Thank you for watching, but unfortunately all your information is not reality.
      1. The golf is around 350-400lbs lighter, not 700.
      2. E85 only is NOT adding 200hp on a stock turbo MK8R.
      3. An E85 tune for a N/A Mustang GT is like 30-40hp MAX.
      4. Yes, obviously a supercharged Mustang GT making 700whp will be able to beat a Volkswagen Golf with just an e85 tune..

      This is actually the full torque tune. The low torque one kinda sucked tbh

    If you had a TCU tune on your Golf, you would have blown him away from a standstill. Mustang can't put its power down, but your AWD would just rip.

      TCU tune would be nice. Still would beat him without it though. His tires aren’t the best

    Not sure what’s different but I raced a tuned mustang well I was tuned on e85 in my mk8 GTI and took him for a walk top end. Interesting.

    I’m guessing the Mustang’s gears at high speeds are more suited for economy than speed and power. I would also guess the Golf R is a bit more aerodynamic and pulls at the high speeds. So closely matched! I presume the Mustang was an automatic. Is the Mustang a 10 speed automatic, like the new ones, or is it too old?

      He can drive up here to Canada and run my stage 2 MK7 Golf R DSG. I hit 164 and let off with plenty of head room let. I know Stangs are fast sonic would be a matter of who climbs up to 180 first...

      We didn’t because his tires are very bad and it wouldn’t even be close. Golf r would be done with the race by the time the mustang gets done spinning

    The mustang seems to walk just a little above 130 but still very close

      Actually the other way around. Mustang is quicker from like 40-120 then the golf starts coming back surprisingly
