It’s a real shame North America doesn’t get the S3/RS3 in the hatch model, as it would make it more compelling compared to the Golf R hatch. Canada doesn’t even get the RS3, only the S3 sedan unfortunately.
💯. That’s the model I’d buy.
That's a lot of BS from VaG to us, the car lovers.
Canada doesn’t get the RS3 🤯🤯?? That should be criminal!
Yup the RS3 sportback is amazing looking. Unfortunately ppl here in North America are obsess d with SUVs but not hatchbacks…
The RS3 has been confirmed for Canada and stores are taking orders. It's all over the forums.
Hatchback RS3 is a great looking car but not sure about the sedan version. I personally wouldn't want to have I guess.
GOLF R and RS3 both beautiful car..it has the same MQB flat form. But if you want under the radar car Golf R is way to go..👍
Hey man, I recently came back to this channel, I used to watch all your videos back then, when you working at the dealership and you owned that ecoboost. Channel is doing great man, and great video BTW.
Hey thanks for the support! That was a while ago haha
Sounds like you’re starting to like the RS3 now! I’m glad and want you to be happy! 😊 It is a nice car and I think you’ll get used to it and like it even more.
Warming up to it, I really like the way it sounds.
@@JVette01 for sure! I had a 2007 VW Golf Rabbit that had the 5 cylinder engine too! It was really cool and unique. It sounded awesome too even though it wasn’t fast.
I'm surprised with this video.... last I heard, you were *VERY* disappointed with yourself for trading in the Golf R. Why the change of heart? Are you talking yourself into liking it because you bought it? I thought you hated the amount of room inside, etc. Curious why the change
RUclips content
@@rambow70😂
If you watched the full video, you’ll see this video was made focusing on the positives of the RS3 and I shared my own personal thoughts at the end.
It’s RUclips tactics how to get more people to watch the video
This is a not true. I still feel the same. This video is focused on the positives of the RS3. My personal thoughts are at the end. I don’t lie in my videos
Changed your mind quick huh 😂
Watch the full video. I share my own personal thoughts at the end. This video was focused on things the RS3 does better.
"huge mistake" to "its actually better" -- too late without losing heaps of money, gotta look at the bright side!
I have a video coming out later on why the Golf R was/is better. This was a comparison video. My personal thoughts are another story.
If I had 2 guess the e85 tune R might be little quicker over stock RS3 but will see ;) hahaha
Slightly. Stay tuned for future vids ;)
Assuming you traded the R, how many miles did it have and were you happy with what they valued it at?
It was a fair enough value. It had 16k miles.
Have you considered CT4-V Blackwing?
Different reviewers said its more fun and engaging to drive than the M3
I have considered it but it’s too expensive for what you get imo
A local dealer has a 19 RS5 with 38k miles for $51. Considering that or a SQ5.
I'd definitely choose the RS5 but depends on what you're using it for
I’d like your opinion on the RS3 vs M2. Both are about the same price. Just if you had to keep only one, which would be your choice? Forgetting 2 door vs 4 door, forgetting sound, forgetting 2 wheel drive vs 4 wheel drive. Which puts a bigger smile on your face when driven. Both can be daily drivers since in Las Vegas 4 wheel drive is a non-issue. From a dig, the Audi is quicker, but from a roll, the M2 will pull away. So pure fun…M2 or RS3?
He's going to say M2 all the way for fun, and he actually fits properly in the bimmer! Also ,he will say it's much faster and handles corners much better as well lol! Don't even think he's going to hold onto the RS3 since he's disappointed with it compared to his M2 or even the Golf R!
The M2 for sure. Stay tuned for the videos that will be made going over this
You know me well! Haha
@JVette01 Yes sir, but I'd argue all day that the RS3 is the easier car to live with and a better daily driver!😄
Nice car! What percentage are your tints? Side and windshield percentages?
Thanks for watching this. I made a video going over this - ruclips.net/video/xj1LCoNTSww/видео.html
@@JVette01 I’m going to get the same percentages for my tints. 55 on windshield and 15 on the sides. Did you get your sunroof tinted? I heard you said you would do it also. I think I’m going to go for 15 on the sunroof as well. I’m getting my RS3 in early July.
15 or 20 for the sunroof will probably be good.. and no, I haven't scheduled a time with my guy yet
I want an RS3 so bad... I drive 35k miles a year on average, I feel like maintenance and consumables would kill me vs a Golf R. The 2025 Golf R is looking pretty nice. I don't think I'll be able to wait until they drop to get a new car though, looking to get something new before October of this year. Still not sure what I'm gonna get...
If you drive alot of miles, you could look into getting a GTI. Those are fairly inexpensive to operate and purchase price compared to an rs3 or golf r
@JVette01 I drove multiple GTIs before getting a Kona N instead. I'd just buy another Kona N before I got a GTI... The 8.5s might be a little better, but if I bought one of those I'd just get an R. Not concerned about the extra $. I wouldn't buy another FWD car unless it was another Kona N or a FL5 CTR tbh... That being said, the Golf R appeals way more to me than the CTR, AWD and DSG. Drove manual cars for 20 years, zero desire to own another one considering my driving style etc.
Would really love to hear your thoughts on the cargo capacity between the cars and also the torque curves, stock for stock. Obviously the rs3 makes more power/torque, but how do they compare at partial throttle and/or at daily driving rpms (2000-4000k)? Any turbo lag differences? Thanks
Cargo capacity goes to the Golf R hands down. I already have a video edited and recorded going over the pluses of choosing a Golf R over the RS3 so stay tuned for that one!
Been considering getting an m2 but waiting to see if competition model will get xdrive do you think it will be x or will they keep it rwd (in your opinion)
Also it’s funny how you own the car that I was thinking about getting before my Kia stinger and you also own the car I’m thinking about getting now (m2)
I don't think they'll be coming out with a comp. Rumor is a CS model. I'm okay with X drive options or keeping it RWD. I'm indifferent on it.
No BMW can match Audis Quattro system and thats a fact. Im talking performance and overall quality.
Great content like always man!! Always spitting facts!
Thanks!
Bottom line is, if you have the money and the Audi will be the one to satisfy you, go for it. Otherwise, save $20000, get a 5k miles Golf R, and be happy.
Or, save 20k and get a brand new golf r like I did lol. The main thing about this car is the engine
I love the RS3 it’s my next car after I finish my time with my 2023 S3 for sure! Great video!
Sounds like a plan!
Went from a built S3 with vortex xl on E85 to a stock 8V RS3. It doesn’t feel fast but strangely I’m content with it for now.
It sounds cool and has decent performance for stock. Obviously everyone is so used to the modded ones, they think they’re faster than they really are when stock.
The rs3 with mods becomes an absolute monster
this the way it should be. falling in love again ❤️ good Job. keep it up 💪
Thanks for watching. Not necessarily falling in love, but warming up to it more haha
I think the RS three is a better price than the golf R! I paid $39, 500. for mine out the door!😂
RS3 for 39 is most likely 4-6 years old with over 80,000 miles
What’s better the bmw M2 or the RS3 ? I have the RS3 but thinking of getting the bmw m2 so would be good to get ur view as u have the both.
Just stayed tuned for the video. I get this question often and everything will be addressed in a video
@@JVette01 thank you I have been waiting for it. I’ve had the RS3 now for over 2 years I love it but love the M2 as well so need to see if it’s worth going straight to the m3 or get the m2 because it’s better and faster than the RS3. Thanks
M2 all the way. M3 is great if you need 4 doors, but if you want similar performance for way less in a sportier looking package, M2!
@@JVette01 thanks mate look forward to your video from here in the uk 👊🏾
The question is, if you can live with the looks of the M2 on a daily basis for that extra horsepower?😄
Its just a front wheel drive hatchback with a "pseudo" all wheel drive. Cant really compare it with a rear wheel drive m2.
Funny thing is it lapped the ring about a whole 5 seconds faster in Germany than the new M2! Not bad for a front wheel biased Quattro! Embarrassing imo for the M2 to get slaughtered that way against an RS3 on any track lol!!
I understand the car is completely different, but a lot of people cross shop it
@@speeddemon311 Buy an electric car, heard they are even faster :)
@piotr2951 Heard wrong little buddy because we aren't talking about straight line racing! Talking about corners and handling balance and electric cars are laughable at that lmao
@@speeddemon311 And yet a Tesla is faster in Germany then that boring front wheel bias hatchback. I mean both are boring cars so you might as well buy the faster one.
Not mad tht u traded the golf r for the rs3 kinda mad u didn't pick the rs3 hatchback 🙄
@@dynamiik-4168 There’s no hatchback sold in North America for the S3/RS3. We only get the sedan. Canada gets only the S3 sedan (we don’t even get the RS3.
When I test drove the RS3 back in 2018, it seemed slow and undramatic. Maybe it was turbo lag, but compared to the Tesla Model 3 performance and my friend's modded C63 it was very boring. Eventually ended up with my S5. Looking to switch over to the 2024 Model 3 LR or performance cause of that crazy torque and $7500 tax credit...
Comparing a rs3 to a Tesla model 3 is like comparing a microwave to a grill 😂😂😂😂
Don't buy a soulless boring Tesla 😴 😂
Tesla is an Ikea furniture piece with a screen on it. That steril interior doesn't work for me, I'll be on the other side for electric , the European.
I’m not sure how you could say the rs3 was slow and undramatic, then end up with a s5 😂 I like the s5 don’t get me wrong but the RS3 has way more character than the S5
Oops, I meant to say I got the S5 sportback because of luxury and hatchback utility over the RS3 and Tesla. No disrespect intended. In fact I was disappointed I missed out on the RS5 when it came out 6 months later. But affordability was an issue at the time, 68k was a max budget then.
No manual transmission, so not for me.
I was about to buy a golf R but on the test drive i hated the manual. It felt like a wet noodle with no feel whatsoever. That's when I changed my die hard manual requirement and it opened up a ton of other cars that really shouldn't be slept on. At least drive a sports car with a good auto before you die on the manual hill, I'd say
This exactly. Modern day autos are so good, a manual is almost doing yourself a disservice.
@@JVette01 Automatics are terrific in some vehicles. For example, my Jeep has an excellent ZF 8-speed. But it's boring as hell. For a sports car or even a sporty car, it's a manual every time. There's simply no automatic that can match the engagement and pleasure you get out of a manual transmission.
@@Lehpurdzzz My buddy has a Golf R. It's average at best as far as the shifter, clutch feel etc. So he swapped in an aftermarket shifter and removed the CDV. Now it's fantastic to drive. No need to even consider an automatic.
RS3 doesn’t have heated steering wheel or vented seats. Big downside for an old guy like me. 😹
The RS3 sounds like a Huracan.
Beautiful whip! Love both VAG products, but the RS3 is just more special. I’d add an AWE Sport exhaust & maybe change the wheels. Not a fan of those OEM rims. Make those two changes and you’ll really love your RS3! Cheers/B
Thanks for the suggestion
First thing I noticed in my RS3 was that there was no auto start/stop, and that every single button has a satisfying "click".
True!
I thought I’d hate the auto start stop. I’m actually ok with it. I live in a big city and sit at lights for a while sometimes. I like that it’s disabled in the fun modes.
New RS3 Still not worth the MSRP to me. No thanks 👍
Fair enough
the Golf R looks better IMO... also comes in 3 pedals...
3 pedals is not the best choice. The days of manuals being the better option have been over for years now.
@@brandons9138 keep telling yourself that. I'll keep having a blast driving them. Big smiles on my face 😃.
@@du3lcitiz3nManuals are fun, but they simply aren't the best option for performance anymore. DSGs are faster to shift. They have more gears for better efficiency in both MPG and keeping the engine in its power band. If you are modding the car DSG transmissions can hold more power.
The fun/satisfaction of hitting a perfect gear change is just outweighed by the benefits a DSG provides.
Then you have DSG farts, which come on, are awesome sounding.
@@brandons9138 I've driven a DSG, my MK7 GTI, and after 9 years driving it I learned to appreciate it. Yet when it was time to replace it with my next car I couldn't wait to get back into a 3 pedal vehicle. My first Porsche will have 3 pedals also. Maybe when I turn 60 I'll drive DSGs or PDKs.
@@du3lcitiz3n I'd go back to a manual for a Porsche. There aren't many cars that I'd consider doing that for, but a 911 would be one of them.
missing a big point - huge price difference.
Obviously lol but it will be addressed more in my golf r over rs3 video
Golf R all the way.
That video will be coming out soon!
The RS3 hatchback model is ugly. The sedan version looks way sportier.
Bring the hatch version here. 😂
That would be nice!
I've had golf R to 8Y rs3, back to a 24 golf r - with some cars in between... The golf R is the value leader compared to ALL of its competition. Its a simply fantastic daily for the money. Is the RS3 cool, absolutely? Will it be cooler and have more character once the ecu is finally tuned and the motor can sing a bit more, yes. For now though, I personally thought the trans tune on my 23 was a bit sloppy, especially combined with the laggy 5 cylinder. The golf R is more fun to drive around town because of the tq of the ea888. Oddly, my golf r's stock tcu tune is just smoother as well. The biggest downfall of the golf R is that the motor sounds terrible. And the sound of the 5 cylinder in the rs3 is literally its biggest upside. The RS3 is objectively alot of money for what it is - audi/vw infotainment is also lacking compared to bmw... I'm sure you'll observe this jvette. All of this said, I do think I'd own another RS3 because it just feels "cool" and "special"...
Thanks for your input
Actually the rs3 makes a bit more according to the dyno, its about 15hp more than claimed, but stock for stock the rs3 would destroy the golf r.
This is correct. I’d hope so with 86 more hp 😂
@JVette01 yeah well duh, of course it would, your tuned one would be closer tho,but the rs3 would be still faster
That’s why I was comparing it to my golf r on e85. The RS3 already supposedly makes 86 more hp
@JVette01 yeah but typical germans, they are probably underestimating their hp,
Thoughts on ride quality/ daily drivability? vs the golf R? Supposedly paying 20k over the Golf R for the 5 Cylinder, AUDI RS tuned suspension, drive train ect as well as the audi luxury ride and silent cabin. IMO that's what we're paying for is the kind of duality of the luxury daily driver along with the performance of the RS.
Ride and noise feel very similar to the Golf R, and thats not a bad thing.
Interesting my 2022 golf R has power folding mirrors must be an American thing they didn't come with it.
It is.
The problem with the RS3 is that it is an econobox 4 door that in black could pass you on the road as a Toyota or something. In gray it shows more the performance details. The TTRS was the exciting one that I might actually consider but they eliminated that (maybe to come back as electric, based on Cayman?) I do like that the RS3 has a binnacle and switchgear as opposed to the cheap giant display in the M2. And the performance with the AWD is incredible.
TTRS looks like a hairdressers car, so you must be into feminine looking cars lol
@@speeddemon311 I'v never heard that before. You must be into male hairdressers and what they like! You are the only one saying that.
@antikytheramechanism7909 It's really common actually
I was looking at the new rs3s and ended up with a 6 speed g87 M2. No regrets
I'm trying to make the same decision this year. What swayed you? I have seen the M2 in a show room but I cannot find many RS3s to check out, only S3s. How does the interior compare?
Can't blame you for doing that! Congrats.
@@johnl.38 m2 is much more enjoyable to drive. The m2s interior feels newer with better tech. Rs3 /s3 feels too much like a vw to me. Not saying the rs3 isn’t a great car. The m2 just feels more special and has more character.
@@johnl.38 Most dealerships won't have a RS 3 on the lot. There is a waiting list for them in most places. I went looking for a RS3 at my local Audi dealership. The sales guy told me there was anywhere from an 18-24 month wait for one. We checked out the shipment that was on the boat and found one that was not claimed by anyone. It was spec'd like I wanted in a color I like so I jumped on it. I had to put $2K down just to get my name on it.
did power folding mirrors for vw only come out in 2024 or was that just for the r?
I know the 2024 R has it. Not sure about the other models
yes only the 24 models have it.
👍
As I have mentioned before, RS3 is a bad-ass car and definitely better than Golf R, but they both have their advantage/disadvantages. I agree wholeheartedly that every car reviewer has made a big deal about Golf's touch screen infotainment. It is very easy and intuitive to use and not a problem. I think they all tried to find something wrong with the car, and they couldn't, so they keep beating on the touch control infotainment system. I love our Golf R, but would definitely take an RS3 instead if we didn't already have an S3.
This exactly! I never had any issues with my R infotainment. Just like when car reviewers complain that BMW’s are hard to get launch control to work. Not once have I had that problem with my m2
@JVette01 if you ever want to modify your RS3, check out IROZ. I think they are in Phoenix. They specialize in 5 cylinder Audis. I drove one a friend of mine has for a couple of minutes. It is tuned to 640+ HP. Wow, it drove like a 911 Turbo S, and almost as quick.
@JVette01 if you decide to modify that RS3, look into IROZ. They specialize in 5 cylinder Audis and can get it up to 640 HP. I drove one that belonged to my friend, and it was almost as quick as a 911 Turbo S.
