- Is it worth leaving your warranty behind in a Golf R instead of stumping up the extra $ for an Audi RS3?
Before we start the mods on the RS3 lets jump in a MK8 Golf R for comparison with a host of Racing line Performance mods thrown at it!
The Golf includes a Stage 2 tune, intercooler, intake, inlet, springs, wheels,

I've driven both, and the RS3 is far better in every way imaginable, and it sounds like nothing else!!
Rs3 for sure you also get a nice soundtrack
The one with the 5 cylinder duh
They are the stock paddles, great vid !
RS3 needs an exhaust for sure 😅
ikr atleast a mid pipe to get the Voice of the old model back
Definitely the rs3 👌
5 cylinder enough said, video should end as soon as you start up the rs3 lol
5 cylinder is a million times better than that trash 4 cylinder! No comparison whatsoever between these two cars!!😂😅
@@speeddemon311 video should of never happened lol
😂😂
What exhaust kit does that golf have? Im toying with this exact issue now do I add some things onto the 8R to make it just a bit more, or try to trade in for an RS3 (although a pain to get here in aus atm)
It's a full turbo back Milltek sport exhaust
You said the turn in was better in the R, does the RS3 feel as nimble as the R? Or does R handle much better in comparison?
They are pretty similar I think, though having springs and more aggressive wheel alignment in the R made it feel more eager to turn in initially.
Definitely the Golf R stage 2 with better torque, steering and handling.👌🏾And you keep some pocket money for nice things in life.😂
I guess it depends on whether you want to keep warranty or not. Handling and steering isn't terrible in the RS3 it has been faster than the R in 5 separate track tests run by magazines.
Is there even a discussion with an inline 5 cylinder? That engine states the obvious. You DON'T want the other one and if you do, you probably din't drive the inline 5 :D
😂👍
4.24 for stage 2 golf is very slow. The DSG was slugish without TCU tune?
I didn’t run this one, this was on an average street surface, it didn’t feel sluggish though, the tcu tune should allow a more aggressive launch and be well into the 3s
@@Driver_88so if no problem with DSG the time looks even weaker. Still should be faster then rs3. With stock 8R i made few runs and it was 4.3, sometimes sub 4.3.
what tyres and what did you time it with
@@Driver_88stock Bridgestone summer tires, timed with ReDrive 20Hz device and it is pretty accurate tool. 1/4mile was 12.4 with 179kmh trap speed. It wasnt very hot and tires were cold. To be accurate the car had airtec intercooler and r600 intake (343hp on dyno vs 339,5 full stock). Now i am on stage 1+ racingline tune with dsg but didnt measured 0-100. Only 100-200 and car easily on winter tires did 8.8 so i hope for 3.5 (still little worried seeing 4.24 on stg2).
@@piotrwozniak7840 I didn't run the time but I will be taking the same car to the strip in June and will see what time it gets so know if anything is wrong.
Bro, something is seriously wrong with the Golf R, my bone stock MK8 did 0-100 in 4.42. 😂
Poor surface I think, usually can expect it to match the RS3 0-100
Stage 2 should include Downpipe. 😂
Yes that’s part of the full turbo back milltek
The original R
2004 MK4 R32 3.2 VR6 by far is the best R!
I'd agree it's certainly the best sounding, a good looker too
@Driver_88 I owned one in Deep Blue Pearl with a stage 2 VF ENGINEERING SUPER CHARGER but lost her to a flood 😢. I'm hoping to pick up another one
@@landroverSV I'd say perfect examples are now pretty sought after
Rs3 sounds bit boring at that price point throwing more $$ 😮
A Mid pipe is pretty cheap
Factory sport exhaust for 1k is all you need trust me lol!!
@@Driver_88 Can you do mid pipes on Aus spec cars? I thought that was a US only thing, because they don't have the OPF, instead they have a second set of Cats, so the mid pipes remove those secondary cats. You can't remove the OPF's without tuning the car in some way.
Researching now 😂
@@Driver_88 your tuner friend should no like all tuners intake this intake that chop this out all boring 4wd good for family s
