- Does your dish washer Clean light blink 7 or 6 times? Is it unresponsive? This should help fix it. Remember close the door after you press the buttons and it will run a test cycle.
Ordered new heating element today for 25.00 usd. I measured resistance with Ohm meter and it only read 2 ohms. Too low to produce heat! Supposed to be between 30 and 50. The bad heating element shorted out the control board.

You should also clear out the drain and chopper in the bottom center of the dishwasher. Only 4 Torx screws to remove it. See other videos.

I have all Kenmore Elite Appliances and they have all broken except the gas oven. My refrigerator needed both Thermistors replace because it would not shut off or defrost. Leave your comments and other problems in comments. I will try and help. amzn.to/3G9K9aE

Thought for sure we were looking at buying a new dishwasher. 13 years later and this solution worked for me too. Thank you! We have a 14 year old Kenmore Ultra Wash - Quiet Guard Ultra. Pressed the same button sequence about 5 times before all the lights came on. The test cycle ran about 10 minutes and the blinking green light was gone. Ran a full load through the 1 hour wash with no issues. No blinking green light after the wash cycle. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Thanks again.

I actually ordered a new control panel then changed my mind since this dw was 22 yrs old(I have 3 previous panels) I ordered on a Saturday cancelled on Monday before the item shipped and they still processed and shipped anyway. Cost $260. All I got was a control cover! Sears parts direct doesn’t the worst to deal with trying to deal with after it shipped and wouldn’t cancel BEFORE it shipped. This reset worked for me I’m truly grateful…bless you for helping this single senior lady in my 70’s

Thank you so much for this video! We have a Kenmore Ultra Wash QuietGuard4 that began displaying the exact same symptom last night... 'Clean' light blinking and no response when opening and closing the door, or even pressing the 'Cancel' button in order to begin 'Start / Resume' sequence again , just continued blinking in a series of 6 or 7 times as you so well described above. Before I thought of looking on RUclips, I imagined myself having to contact Sears repair service and spending valuable work time at home waiting for the repairperson to show. THANK YOU!!!!

I have been there brother. Crazy these things are designed to fail. It's one failing part that locks it up so u have to call for service or replacement.

Thank you so much!! Our dishwasher has been randomly leaking from underneath and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. I spent hours poking around different forums to get information on how to diagnose it and finally came across this - it explains exactly how to run the diagnostics (I discovered that it HAD diagnostics about 45 minutes into my search) and what to do with the information. Thank you for going to the effort to post this little video clip. I made a phone call to the Sears line listed on the door to the dishwasher, but the agent only wanted to set up a service call, not to talk to me about the problem. He gave me the online chat number, and she also declined to talk to me about the problem but wanted to schedule a service call. I really appreciate the community responding to me, especially since the manufacturers and vendors of the machines won't.

Cannot thank you enough for your video. Saved me a service call. According to my manual it says that the blinking light indicates a faulty heating element. It did NOT !! Used your fix and everything works just fine.
I did the 2-light switch test (normal wash and heating) and it worked. It stopped the linking Cleaning light and the dishwasher now works. THANK YOU!!!
I have a Kenmore Elite. This got me going and I found that holding the NORMAL WASH button down until lights came on and then i pushed the START button and then the machine went into diagnostic mode. Thank you. Really helped on Thanksgiving!

I had a similar problem with my Kenmore dishwasher and used your tip- I cleaned out the trap and reset the dishwasher as you explained- We then ran the dishwasher and it is working great:)

Thanks for this. I just helped my parents with their Maytag Dishwasher (Model: MDB7749AWB2). The start button was not responding, nor the cancel button. I knew that there was a reset combination and your solution started the reset function exactly as you explained (for a Kenmore). It's going through the test cycle. Hopefully it will be fixed.

Second before I googled and found your video. Sears was going to charge me $70 for a home visit plus parts and labor and gave me an estimate of $250-$400. I asked them if they would troubleshoot with me before sending someone out because it could have been as simple as a click of a button (or two) they said no. THANK GOD I came across your post. OK, ran through the "Normal Wash" Cycle without a problem. Then ran through a "Smart Wash" with "Heated Dry" cycle and it never went into the "dry" mode. Also the "Clean" light is flashing 7 times again. Circuit Board bad? Any further help is appreciated.
I have a Maytag, but lost the manual! This worked to test my dishwasher as well! My Steam Clean Light was staying on through every cycle (forcing a 6 hour delay to wash dishes, what a pain)! Trying the test wash now! Thanks!

This worked for me! My issue was a little different. The dishwasher would only let me run the 1 hour cycle & heated dry cycle. I use this cycle a lot but not always. This fixed that problem as well. I can now run any cycle again.
I didn't have the same buttons to push but I did alternate between the Normal and other buttons and it started working. Thank you very much.

I forgot to mention that I am very impatient so after about ten minutes of the test cycle I simply pressed cancel and it cancelled. then I restarted the dishwasher on a normal cycle to wash my dishes; I am sooo happy thank you again MegaHowtoMan you totally ROCK!!!

Tue 29th sept 2015 .....cheers megaman. I was having a issue with my Kenmore dish washer our lights weren't working when turned on....we had a little water from underneath....then nothing so tonight we were looking online for help yours was the second video pod cast I watched.. So I tried your suggestion and wow not what I expected ..... Well the lights came on as per your video...yaaaa then POP and promptly flooded the kitchen and basement directly below , sadly our furnace was directly below... What a mad dash that was.....lol.....like a comedy of eras .... So what had happened a blockage below the trap. Blow the motor mount off and pored out......now I'm looking at the blockage and replacing the poor clips that were fitted ..... I thank you for your tip it helped ID the problem. This seems to have worked on our Kenmore Ultra Wash 665, which is a later model. One tip--if your dishwasher's buttons don't respond to this at first, try unplugging it (or flipping the breaker if it's hard wired) for a little while. When you plug it back in, go straight in to the sequence in this video. Thanks!
