omg. i removed the ribbon cable on the left with power off, turned power on, waited a few minutes, reattached ribbon, light stayed off, so i quickly closed it all up and started the washer and it is running! In my case it was just the normal light that blinked unless i hit the cancel button. I was ready to give up, i tried cleaning the drain/filter then saw this video, removing the plug didn't help, so i was about to stop and then saw the mention in the comments about the ribbon, so I just did it, and a cycle is running now! thank you thank you. I hope it keeps working. Also of note, the cable doesn't cover every pin, the bottom pin is not covered, I didn't realize it until after and didn't know which pins to cover, but leaving the bottom pin uncovered appears correct.
Do not work for me
Thanks, this worked for me. I had a rapidly blinking "Normal" light after closing it up and doing this procedure. I don't remember exactly what buttons I pressed but it's now running a load. I'm sure it was your procedure that helped reset it. Thank you posting this vid.
Awesome job with the video, I think what took me the most ammount of time was the darn cover on the control panel. What a pain in the butt, I ended up twisting the bottom tab off the bottom and squashing the top one with pliers, came off like butter (it's my way, I don't recommend). After that I took the 2 plugs off the board, the other smaller one right near the bigger one you took off then the ribbon cable. Someone mentioned the last ribbon pin closest to you iisn't covered, just check closely before removing it, I found it easier to remove the controller board cage to then remove the ribbon cable. So after about a minute I reversed the steps, plugged everything in (everthing done with the power on - no gloves either - real men don't where gloves, I'm kidding, safety 1st). So I lifted the hanging control assembly to see the panel, viola!! no lights on, my issue was Pots & Pans and Normal lights were on, pulsing back and forth. So the momment of truth while still in hanging mode, I hit Normal button, light on, hit Cancel, light off. Ok, screw it, put everything back in, ran my dishwasher, and it's allset, woohoo!!! Thank you so much tienman49.
Now here's something you can try if the Clean stage is stuck or blinking, it's a button press combo that resets the control board as well, I got it off another video, sorry uploader I forgot what you name is - but I figure this may help too. Reset Button Combo for Whirlpool (but hay it may work on others too). Press buttons: Heated Dry, Normal, (again) Heated Dry, Normal, (the whole panel lights up - then goes out) then hit Cancel and Cancel again. I haven't tried it yet. I figure I give that a shot too, maybe after a power outage or blip, that's kind of when my dishwasher went out of wack. Happy fixing.
I just tested the Reset Button Combo, it works as stated, every light is illuminated on the front panel. Keep in mind I have the exact same Whirlpool dishwasher as in the video. I'll definately do this reset after every power outage/dip.
Worked like a charm! Thank you so much! I had to disconnect the block wires as you show here as well as the other set of block wires behind and to the side. I also took an air can and cleaned it all out. Now it works like new!
This is what I had to do as well :)
😍
This Worked!!!! Thank You soooo much for posting. I unplugged once and it didn’t wrk, unplugged again and waited a couple minutes replugged and it worked 😁
Voila! Thank you so much for your video and advice! Husband and I ordered a new dishwasher yesterday after our 13 year old one stopped functioning properly. Decided to try to fix it by Googling the same problem(s). Your video was the only one that described exactly my problem(s) and so I tried it. Dishes are now washing; runs like new! Thanks again!
Now I just need to cancel the order for the new dishwasher :-)
This method did work, but we did not run it immediately and had to go though the steps again and it worked and completed the cycle. We shut off the circuit until the next time we need to run it (usually twice a week). tyvm
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! It works wonderfully! My dishwasher is an old kenmore elite ultra wash. I really thought I would have spend a ton of money and buy a new one. God Bless You!!!!!! 💗💗💗
whirlpool won't tell you this:
To reset it, you will have to have the door open. It can not be latched. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal," "Heated Dry," "Normal" within three seconds of the first pressed button. Now close the door, this should reset your dishwasher. It worked for me. No parts necessary.
Rich Broz your awesome thanks!! Just fixed my whirlpool gold dishwasher that just kept flashing clean light and wouldn’t do anything. Reset it and running great!
I will try this if the buttons will respond, which they did not. The unplugging of the pin cable did work.
I have a Whirlpool Gold GU1100. "China Crystal" and "Cancel" lights blinking. Do I use the same buttons mentioned above to reset? Thanks much.
Ohh man this worked liked a charm. You just saved me a thousand headaches from my wife. Your awesome!!!
Thank you sir. I just did that and it worked
Thanks for a great video. I’m trying it now. Your video went off in my pocket, I heard running water and thought the washer started with my power off. I was so confused. 😂
I think you have another issue .
This truly saved me so much money! Thank you!!!!!
FINALLY!!! SOMETHING THAT WORKED! Thank you! It worked without leaving the power on though.
Thank you for this great guide. Will try it now.
Thanks !!! I disconnected both the cables and it worked.
Fixed mine! Thanks! Unplugged the ribbon strip too
NORMAL LIGHT BLINKING ONLY: Pulling the ribbon cable, with the power still on to the dishwasher, leaving it off for a few minutes and reconnecting, worked for me. Background: I have the Whirlpool Quiet Partner II dishwasher. It is about 10 years old and had the normal light blinking only. I tried the "heated dry", "normal" sequence and it worked for about 5 minutes but then the normal light would start blinking again. I tried some other options as well but disconnecting/reconnecting the ribbon cable was ultimately what worked for me. Good luck to all!
What do you mean by ribbon cable
@@xxredclearnightxx Inside my dishwasher, at the top, are 6 torx head screws. If I remove those screws I can then pull the top "control board" section away from the top outside of the dishwasher. It takes a little bit of effort to do that. Once I pull that away, I see some wires going behind a plastic cover. I can remove that cover to see the actual control board that controls the dishwasher settings. I have had to replace this control board once a couple of years ago. But, after removing that cover I see a "ribbon" cable, about 1.5" wide that plugs into the side of the control board. That is the ribbon cable I'm talking about. Remember, this is for my Whirlpool Quiet Partner dishwasher. If you have a different brand/model this may not be the same.
I tried it 3 times it didn't work and I disconnected it and all and I still have a blinking cancel/drain light
@@alphonsodixon1490 Sorry to hear that. It still works for me but this "trick" used to work for a few months at a time before it would error again. Now it only lasts for one cycle. I'm going to have to buy another control board or a new dishwasher. It's been 12 years so will probably opt for a new dishwasher since control boards are now really expensive by themselves.
Thanks mate! It worked! My normal light was blinking.
Thank you so much, I'm going to try this.
Had the normal light blinking on mine as well. Verified micro switches (lock handle ) were functional and in normally open position. 1st pulled the 2 plugs in video with door fully closed and AC power to unit, put plugs back in place. Light started blinking again after a few seconds. Pulled other yellow and brown pin cables and ribbon cable. Put cables back in place. Light cleared and dishwasher now functional again.
😍
Worked! I have the white model. Thank you!
Thanks it worked! I had to unplug the green ribbon, then unplug the switch and turn off energy, after 3 attemps worked very well.
How do you do that? Can you show video? Or link one? Thx
@@PyaariMerani The second part of the video shows how to remove the ribbon, but my husband remove the board and then slided the ribbon.
Its actually works. Thank you so much. For me unplug the one thing only doesn’t work at first and so I removed the top part and get looose of the ribbon under electric tray and unplug both of the things and then plug back on and it works like a charm. ❤
Thank you! It worked!
Going to try this. 🍀
Thanks, it worked on mine after 3 attempt
WOW WOW WOW
THANKS gonna try now
It worked! Thank you!
Thanks a lot for this video. It worked for me as well.
If this did not work, take the dish washer panel off and use some (do not use WD40) CRC QD Electronic Cleaner (Wall Mart under $5.00) or any electrical contact cleaner. TURN OFFTHE POWER BEFORE STARTING THE REPAR !!!! ??????????? This may work on your garage door, microwave (worked on all three) washer, dryer , computer and any other circuit board and electrical connections.
Seems to have done the trick!....thanks....side note keep the plug
out for 30 seconds.
Thank you. I just tried this. I hope it works. Can you tell me how to clean its filter or where it is and how to take it apart?
Does it have to have pre wash in it for it to work ?
For those tried but didn't work, the problem may be a bad (stuck/shorted) key on the keypad. To verify this, turn off the power. Open the controller board. Disconnect the ribbon wires but leave all other wires connected. Close up the control board and turn power back on. Should the Drain Motor run for about 2 minutes, then you have a bad keypad. You may need to replace the control panel as they don't sell the keypad by itself. If you don't hear anything then your keypad is good. Your problem is elsewhere.
RT how sure are you of that? mine seems to be doing exactly what you say it goes through a 2 min. drain cycle automatically if I don't hook the key pad back up. if I hook the key pad back up then once I press the resume button it goes through that cycle?
How do you remove the ribbon connection?? Thank you.
@@ftnrbhmwk I changed the control panel and the dishwasher has been working fine. The panel is connected to the computer board by a ribbon cable it just unplugs from the computer board very simple repair
@@martinsmythe3414 Thank You 🙏
@@ftnrbhmwk For my machine kitchen aide not cheap $150 for the part
We have the exact same model and exactly the same countertop! Lol! Did you take this video in my kitchen? Hahaha!
great idea are always meet in sky
I also have the same model and countertop!!!!
I tried unplug the wire with both power on and power off like instructed on the video but didn’t work, so I unplug the ribbon wire and plug it back on with all other wires connected and power on, Voila, everything works again and no more blinking lights.
It only worked for me when I disconnected and reconnected the 16 pin strap cable from the electronic board
That's the only way it worked for me too. Power on and disconnect 16 pin strap. Thank you !!
Same for me thanks for the tip (power was on when I unplugged it)
This did work for me the first time. Now it has happened again and its not working. Anyone have the parts link for this?
importance ! you must disconnect 16 pin from Display Board to Electric component while you reset . for mine work perfectly unstill today
Do you have other way to fix without open a control box?
sorry No . you must open it , very simple just unscrew 6 Screws on top
Mine is just Normal light is blinking.
So how do you disconnect the p16 ribbon cable?
Figured it out and it fixed the issue for me also (: the ribbon cable just needs to be slid off and placed back on and that did the trick for me
at minute 1:26 you see green Ribbon with 14 white stripe . unplug from behind electronic board . Good Luck . My dishwasher have been worked perfect for 18 months after I reset
Good morning my dishwasher Whirlpool Quiet Parnert II is blocked . The light is on . Please How can unlocked it. Thanks

Sometimes ot could be capacitor
hello - I followed your instructions and now it won't power on (before I had blinking normal light like you.) The two white dots of the fuse are showing. Any ideas? Thanks.
Hello there . that may be problem with your main Electric board

don't forget unplug 14 pin cable connect from display board to component board while reset
Really 🤯🤯, not sure what's your trade or professional job is but I followed your instructions to the Tee and it worked!!!
Appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
Thanks

Didn't work. 30 seconds with plug out. Power on. Nothing. Still the same.
try do it less than 10 sec and see how it work . and power off for a while . If not in use I think better let power off so that switch make for
Did you ever find a solution? Removing the pin isn't working for me either.
Does this work if your Normal light only is flashing?
Thomas Kincaid , yes it does.
My man! This works and it works great. I had to disconnect the power and the ribbon strip. re connected power and then ribbon strip. Works like a champ!
Thank dude!
Didn’t fix mine
No luck at all.
Tried and it didn’t work for me
New update : Disconnect display panel to Electronic Board before unplug & plug in to reset . That will work perfect like new
try unplug (16 pin) display board to electric board before reset
tienman49 the 16pin? Is that the Ribbon cord?
@@thomaskincaid9157 yes
tienman49 I’ll try it tomorow😉. I did what the video showed today and it didn’t work. The Normal light (no others) began flashing again.
