The king is finally on this channel!
While the Legion 9 has been on sale, the Pro 7 has also dropped commensurately. The cheapest I’ve seen the 9 with 14900HX, 32 GB of RAM, RTX 4090, and 2 TB of storage is $3300. An otherwise identically equipped Pro 7i can be had for $2600. I can’t justify that kind of price premium especially since Lenovo upgraded the Pro’s screen to 100% P3.

I did buy the 2024 9i last month (4090 w/64GB Ram) after seeing your 7i Pro review (which is what put me onto Legion laptops in the first place). I was looking at the 7i but the premium elements of the 9i lured me in. Cost me £3400. Unfortunately I had issues with it, stuttering in many games.
I returned it and picked up a 2024 7i pro w/4080 on deal (£2300) and I've had no issues with it. I'm not the most tech savvy person so not sure what the issue was on the 9i, but looking on Reddit quite a few people have had the stuttering issue.
One thing that did suprise was how good the IPS panel is on 7i pro. It wasn't the huge downgrade I was expecting from the mini LED of 9i.
The 2024 7i pro moved to a 100% dcip3 screen. It’s quite nice

The carbon on the lid is called forged carbon. It gives it that camo pattern look. That being said, i love mine! It's WAY too much for what i use it for, but the forged carbon and top tier specs locked me in!

It's one hell of a machine, no doubt. But for the price it demands, I can, and have added a Legion Slim 7 (7840hs/4060) and a Legion Tower 7 (13700k/4070Ti) If someone wanted one machine to do it all however, I think this is the one I'd go for. It's absolutely insane to me the level of power available in a laptop these days, and with little to no compromises. Great video as always. Cheers.
Really it’s more of a device for single purpose users. I also bought a legion tower and a Thinkbook 16p for the price of this I’m using daily lol.
I'm pretty sure this uses the same pannel as the yoga pro 9i with it's mini-led option so I guess the yoga pro 9i is like a cheaper legion 9i with much less power but longer battery life.
The yoga is glossy touch, the legion is a semi matte non touch. Both are great but the yoga is my preferred screen (but it’s very very glossy)

I was actually told by multiple people to not get it because it has software issues. The video’s great but I’d prefer the legion 7i gen 9 only because of the software issues.
@@SwillTheDrill Yeah, 9i is great, but 7i is also fantastic and more reasonable to buy.
@@phuongduybui5392 It’s sad that they migrated a few features from the 7 to the 9. I hate the double sided triangular design on the sides, but that’s a personal issue. A glass trackpad and Microsoft Hello would make it the PERFECT gaming rig.

Awesome video! However, may I ask where you managed to find a listing of the 2023 model? It's out of stock on Lenovo's website and I couldn't find any listings online.
Oh, it was an open box on eBay. Have a look and see if you can find one, might save hundreds or even a thousand +
@@TechGuyBeau Found some listings! Thanks so much. It was always out of my price range however I still wanted to see the listings out of curiosity. I was shocked to see quite a few options in the 2.5-2.8k range online.
The Legion 9i is full of problems, can’t recommend it
Edit: After 5 months of stuttering, they finally fixed it with the latest Bios for the Gen 9.
Care to explain? I've had mine since December 2023. ZERO issues.
@@03blkss literally all Gen 9 were broken for almost a half year. They fixed it now due to ongoing pressure from reviewers and community.
Just google „stuttering“ or „latency“. Or type the same into the Lenovo forum.
The latest bios has fixed the stuttering problem at least.
Had mines going on a month now, no problems, the best gaming labtop ive ever owned.
@@03blkss Search for stuttering and latency im combination with the Legion 9i (Gen 9). Google, reddit and Lenovo forums. However, they ffinally fixed it after months of complaining and reviewers criticizing it for so many problem s(see Notebookcheck e.g.)

@@JamesGadbury I returned my yoga pro 9i partially because of the lack of configuration options .. I don’t know why asus and Lenovo lock down everything in their non gaming laptops … pro 9i is a beast performance wise ; makes no sense to limit it like that
Does it have single zone vs multi zone dimming option?
I returned my yoga pro 9i because of the blooming. Worst blooming I’ve ever seen. How is it in this one?

the laptop feels like a nerf compared to the legion 7i gen 7 2022, it feels like they butcher the legion pro 7i so as to sell this stupid glorified apple/razor product that has the audacity calls it self a LEGION product.
--CANT easily upgrade the ram since motherboard is inverted......yay....
--terrible cooling system when COMPARED to the pro 7i. as it compromise keyboard location and reduce trackpad and i guess more dust can get into the laptop since there air holes are above now. why is there water inside this laptop. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE COOLING SYSTEM ON THE LEGION PRO 7i.
-- the performance of the 9i is the same or worse than the 7i. the chasis of the 9i gets warmer when used than the pro 7i..
-- the SD card reader is'nt that fast and doesn't fully flash in as it stick as a sore thumb which makes me question whether was it aimed at creators or they just slapped it in and several more concerns which explained with these videos:

look as a LEGION FAN, I tried loving this laptop, i tried accepting is the best legion laptop. and it is a good laptop but with the presence of the legion pro 7i, the laptop that cares more for functionality rather than form, a CORE design for the legion laptops, you just cant feel the controversial dissapointmet of the LEGION 9I. rather than being the best of the legions, it feels like another razor blade laptop.
it's even more sad when you realize the nerf from the legion 7i (gen 7-2022) to the legion pro 7i (gen 8-2023 & gen 9-2024) was made NOT because it was to minimize the outrageous price of the GPUs BUT just to sell a pointless an OVERPRICED nerfed LEGION 7i that matches to the intel cpu number name scheme (i5,i7,i9...i3 soon???).
I have even come to a point of saying "I wished they just stick with the 7th gen(2022) lineup and things could have been better" but i guess it's impossible for large companies to fall under the "curse of greed" gotta make that wallet bigger somehow i guess...😔

@@TechGuyBeau sorry i didnt comment for resentment, i only comment so they fix these issue in the near future. i just got really salty (and i'm still am) since the laptop didnt live up to the hype for me and it feels more experimental product rather than a finalized one bcz of the water cooling marketing and what not. btw thanks for replying

The 7i is a lot more premium. I would recommend the i7 however, the i9 is pretty pointless and will just cause thermal issues

I bought this one week ago and is bad is stuttering in games and in easy stuff like surfing the web. I will return it today. I used to be a big Lenovo fan untill now.Looks great , feels great but is broken and Lenovo failed to fix the stutters since last year. Before some of you will want to buy this I say wait and see it's not worth it. Reddit is full of users who are very frustrated about this peace of crap that just happened to have a great quality build.
Could be an Intel issue. Intel CPUs run VERY hot, especially if you are in a hot climate. If that’s a concern go AMD
@@TechGuyBeau Please, don't guess too much if you're going to recommend something. Nope, nothing to do with Intel, it's a GPU problem, something you'd have found in a minute of research. Lots of negative threads about the Legion 9i, even on the official Lenovo forum. After half a year of ghosting, they now seem to be fixing it, especially after recent reviewers have criticised the Legion 9i heavily.

This laptop is very loud. Any comfort to gaming.
It’s not that loud compared to some, but loud compared to a non gaming laptop. You can use a balanced mode or custom I show to keep noise down

This laptop would be amazing if only it had a core 9 ultra or the new AMD AI 370HX.
Or preferably a currently non existing ARM chip coping with dGPU’s.
At this price range not having haptic motor touchpad is a big flag.
Also INTEL blocking out Undervolt on Meteor Lake and Arrow lake, this should be illegal. Dont cut people from getting game changing efficiency out of your mobile chips!

Core ultra 9 sucks. For this laptop with the MAXIMUM power id rather have HX . Only benefit is battery life
