    £7k for this house is a real bargain!! 👍👏 The interior of the house seems quite liveable although of course it needs a lot of work. But, similar to many others that dedicate their time on DIY, with a lots of attention and love you will achieve good results and sure enjoy your OWN property and because Bulgaria has a quite arable land, you will enjoy growing very tasty tomatoes, veggies, fruits, etc. There are many jars because food is stored in them for the winter it is called "zimnina" derived from the Bulgarian word zima i.e. winter. They are usually pickles, sour cabbage, green tomatoes, or anything that can be conserved. This tradition exists until today. Usually sugar, salt and vinegar are used to preserve the foods, but also the cold acts like a natural refrigerator. They are prerpared in later summer/early autumn. Try to avoid buying veggies from larger supermarkets because they are imported from other countries and very tasteless or taste like plastic. Stick to the smaller shops or the weekly pazars with natural products especially honey, wine, rakia, walnuts, etc. Most towns have them. Ask your closest neighbours if you are not sure.
    Welcome to your new home, Bulgaria family and have a peaceful life 🙏

    village houses that are not close to major cities are still incredibly cheap in Bulgaria even by Bulgarian standards, lol. Those houses are mostly abandoned homes, for example someones great-great grandma/grandpa passed away, nobody wants to deal with the hassle of restoring the house or anything, and they just sell it for cheap, like for just the plot value, the house is just.. a bonus? Thats how my grandparents got a house of their own, since now they're pensioners so they are starting to move away from city life, they bought a cheap house, since the previous owner passed away and nobody wanted to deal with the house, so they sold it and my grandparents bought it and renovated it, now they live there and the plot is actually quite big, so they got a huge garden in which they plant a lot of stuff and the entire plot is level so it's perfect. I sincerely recommend to everyone, whenever possible, buy those homes and take care of them, the value is insane.

    • @the_phoenixproject
      @the_phoenixproject  9 месяцев назад +7

      Yes, you're right. People don't understand that the Bulgarian residents are happy to sell the house and remove the stress of dealing with it. This house was owned by two elderly grandparents and their children sold the house to us. They were happy to sell the house to a young family, knowing that we would love and care for the property. Everyone wins!

    I can’t believe how mean some people are in their comments. I think they are just jealous. Jealous that someone has courage to live. They can’t break out of a their little safety bubble - where they will stay and pass from this earth. They are satisfied to sit and be critical of others, rather than live life. Sad. Can’t wait to see the progress as you go along! Ignore the nay sayers as I’m sure you do! I want to move to Burgas in a few years. No one will stop me. ❤️

    Lovely house! With a little touch it will be wonderful new home 🖤
    P.s. the bottles - usually in Bulgaria we use those bottles during the summer we make tomatoes juice and basically u can have it with vodka during the winter or use it for cooking , but also if you don’t want them , some of them can be returned to the shops (usually the beer bottles) and they have to pay u back like 20 or 25 stotinki (Bulgarian pence) per bottle :) the jars 🫙 also we use for conservation of food like … basically whatever xd strawberries, tomatoes, pickles 🥒, pears and apples 🤷🏼

    Did you view it first or just buy it
    We know of somebody who just had a bad experience trying to buy there
    They were talked into putting a deposit to hold the property €2.000 as they were told others also wanted it.
    They also paid €1200 for a holiday to view it.
    They previously paid somebody allready living in Bulgaria £250.00 to view and make a video,to which they were told there was nothing majorly wrong with the property
    When they got there both Houses needed seriously underpinning,floors were running down,ceiling,plaster all cracked totally not habitable

    • @the_phoenixproject

      We wouldn't trust anyone except Ideal Homes (Veselin Valchev). We visited last year and viewed properties with Ves. We found this one and he arranged everything for us and was completely transparent with everything. NEVER put down deposits! There are lots of con-artists in Bulgaria (mostly Westerners) so it is crucial to find someone you can trust. Ves is Bulgarian and has been helping foreigners buy properties for a very long time. He can also arrange visas etc. I wouldn't trust anyone else with the process of purchasing a house. It is easier if you speak fluent Bulgarian, but if you don't, you need someone trustworthy.

      Also, never buy a house unless you have seen it in person and had a builder's opinion on the house. Anthony's Dad is a builder and he checked the house for us before we bought it. We saw it in person before any money was exchanged. You can take a risk and buy online but it is a big gamble.

    • @ivandeliyanov1395
      @ivandeliyanov1395 19 дней назад

      Saying Hungarian is the better option because of the similar alphabet is just so ignorant. As weird as it sounds, Bulgarian is much closer to English when it comes to vocabulary and even grammar than Hungarian. You just need to learn which sound does a letter represent (many of them are the same in English) and you are good to go! In Hungarian you have to learn a grammatical case system of 18 cases which change the suffix of the words, depending on what you want to say. In Bulgarian all you have to do is learn how "the" changes depending on the gender of the word, and it's limited to 5 options (-ът, -а, -та, -то, -те).
