This is honestly one of the most beautiful, and sad, hymns in the series... Also, a little fun fact about why hymns have 'extra voices' ... besides the meta reasons. It's cuz of the Song Servers in the Towers. When a reyvateil sings, some of those thoughts/feelings(a good chunk actually) get processed and handled by the Server itself along with the Singer. Pretty clever in-series explanation actually.
its the ar tonelico tech tower that 'sings'. sound is heard because tower, through instructions from reivateil, is manipulating reality and sound is the byproduct of that fact. song servers are just databanks that hold reivateil consciousness and relay commands from singers to the main tower(which powers all 'operations' through device utilising a white hole).
Just imagine that the Reyvateils are the programs, the Towers are the servers (or network centres), and the echoes are like data cache, as the byproducts. Or are they more like website cookies?
Even after all these years. This song still gives me the chills of the moment. Just reaching this point of the game and the credits start to roll. Just sitting there baffled. "No! NO! This is not right!" I really respect the game for giving you the option to just say: Yes - this is how it ends.
+Noitrus Yet the songs are meaningless without knowing the context they are sung in during the games. Plus, saying that also means ignoring the world they have as their setting, their characters and their stories.
+Ignace Maes You are sorely mistaken if you think you can fully appreciate the songs without playing through the game they were especially made for, especially when both the games and the songs are two halves of the same whole.
+aquagon_drag True, seeing the songs in the game context and it's story makes them even better. If one would simply pick the song out of youtube, one would not see what it tries represent, but they still can be really nice to listen annyway. The gameplay of AT games weren't that fun, especially AT1 which was just terrible, but the story and especially songs are saving grace totally. I remember them with admiration.
Beautiful, sure... Until you start imagining certain characters from the sequel running around like chickens with their heads cut off, screaming "The ground is falling! The ground is falling!" because Plot just started happening for no apparent reason. You're welcome.
@@seushimarejikaze1337 It's not a theory ; it's stated directly in game-adjacent official media (the AT2 Setting Encyclopedia). Even if it weren't, this would be easily deducible from what the games already establish. All non-IPD Reyvateils of Metafalss are ATDs and depend on the First Tower's SIS to craft magic. This most notably includes the Maiden of Homura. You can imagine how chaotic Metafalss politics became when she lost her powers alongside 60% of the region's Reyvateils, coinciding with a Rim collapse due to a loss of symphonic power intake to Sol Marta.
@@blara2401 doesnt freya also depend on it(the first tower)? my take was that metafals was degrading because considering how long freya was singing and coupled with sudden "downtime" of ar tonelico it exhausted her to a point that she was no longer able to keep the 'magic' up by 'normal' means. considering i didnt read any outside sources, my take is as good as any xD
@@seushimarejikaze1337 I'm unsure. Frelia has her own SH server (she is the only Reyvateil to be registered under Sol-Marta - a feature so unique Dive Machines glitch out when trying to resolve it and redirect to the First Tower instead), however all non-IPD extracts presented in AT2 are First Tower extracts (e.g. : EXEC_HIBERNATION/. utilizes Ar Tonelico to hack into Infel Phira), so I would tend to believe Sol-Marta has no Song server. Aquagon can probably answer this better.
+Infelious Kazkari Possibly, never played the game and so I've never really thought of making videos for it :P will find some and see if the lyrics won't make me mad haha
Not sure if its 2 different people singing or the same person with a different voice but i loved how they were switching lines halfway through and singing the other half of the other persons lines, all in the while their voices slowly swept from the left ear to the right while they were changing lines and then switched back... it really tripped me out whoever did the sound design or mastering or whatever its called did a really good job.
I believe Noriko Mitose is the only singer in the song. Lots of the AT songs have great vocal mixing and overlapping. It sounds great but is a pain to manually sync when I do the lyrics haha
@@EggiTheShadow Funny that you mentioned Origa, she did music for Ar nosurge, another game in the Ar tonelico universe. Look up the songs "em-pyei-n vari-fen jang" or "yal fii-ne noh-iar" from the game, they're great :) Drakengard 3 is Emi Evans, who also does all the vocals and the Chaos Language for the NieR games, also a very good singer. You have good tastes my friend~
@@MyraSlokov Haha i just started playing arnosurge on my vita too maybe i haven't heard enough of the tracks but i feel the music style is much different this time around and has a really different feel to ar tonelico but pyei-n vari-fen jang was pretty good but still really different to ar tonelico. Personally i prefer ar tonelico's soundtrack, but it gives me a good excuse to continue arnosurge. Its strange because i think many new game soundtracks are done in a different style to older ones because even with nier automata even though the soundtrack is really good, it just didn't have the impact on me as the original nier even though the music is similar. The original nier if you just hear a song on its own it brings up memories and you can strongly remember where it plays and see images in your head, but with automata it just sounds more like ambiance but strangely many people prefer automata's soundtrack to the original. How about you?
@@EggiTheShadow I did love the NieR: Gestalt to death, so I have a bias towards the whole game in general... so I do love the music more, but I also feel the connections in the music with Automata as well. Especially in the amusement park area. The first song I heard for the game was "A Beautiful Song" with the opera boss and that got me hype beyond belief. I can't discount Automata but I do have a softer spot for Gestalt NieR.. especially Kaine; Laura Bailey was amazing as her voice actress :P
@@MyraSlokov Ah i wasn't trying to discount automata, i was just saying the music didn't have as much as an impact on me, i mean thinking back to it now, literally the only one i can remember is the amusement park theme cause it was really nice, plus i enjoyed the dancing robots, so peaceful yet so creepy at the same time since they didn't attack. But i feel that nier had more of a dreamlike ethereal feel and the music reflected that, and automata has more of a down to earth. hopeless, apocalyptic feel which the music also reflected very well. My enjoyment is probably due to my bias too favoring the unique atmosphere of the original haha. I felt the dub did sound a bit weird at times but it was really good all round, i agree kaine was pretty good sometimes felt a bit forced with the delivery but the "Weiss you dumbass" scene was pretty funny she swears sooo much though . But weiss, omg his voice really got on my nerves at times too pompous for me
You should totally play it. I played it for the first time this last month and I can say its like no other games. Can’t describe it with words, also can’t stop thinking about it. It may seems the usual jrpg to most people but you got to have a certain sensibility to fully understand it. I’m waiting to start Ar Tonelico 2 because its not the kind of series to rush.
Umm Myra, actually the translator for this song was Lazy. However, you should have grabbed the translation from the wiki instead, as the one in the forums actually has more than a few mistakes.
@@SariaSchala I can understand. It's the slumber element, is it ? But the song itself sounds very different, that's what I meant. It sounds closer to The Sealer, actually.

Ugh I would LOVE a remake of the Ar Tonelico series
The music is so unique
same here like a proper remaster not a remake the amount of things that would get cut because of modern viewpoints would be insane
This is one of my favourite Hymn of al the series, the first time I listened to it I freezed... Beautiful
Noriko Mitose has a beautiful voice

Vanym Storm huh? What do you mean I've seen the first game played all the way through and I don't get what You mean
I'm saying that (if I'm remembering it right; it's been years) putting the tower into sleep mode caused an event referenced in the sequel.
