I was concerned about updating my PC from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 until I found this video on RUclips. I followed the steps shown, and after about two hours of downloads and updates I am now running Windows 10 on my PC. Highly recommend this process!

@@soleil7588 When I bought my PC it stated that it was ready for the Windows 10 upgrade from the Windows 8 which was installed. My PC came with 4 Gb Ram and it did the upgrade with no problem. My internet speed runs at 100 Mbps and the download was normal. Most of the time for the process was in the Installation of Windows 10. I waited patiently during the installation which seemed to be stopped for a long time, but eventually completed with no problem.

additional point to share that I encounter during my window 8 to 10 upgrade. You must right click and run as administrator when running media tool creation, if not the media tool creation will still run but half way it will auto close.

@Frostler No you need that amount for internet, but as in terms of storage, you will need around 16gb of free space for 32 bit. For 64 bit you need around 20gb of storage

Just tried this in April 2022. Still works! Many thanks for putting this video out. Initially, it kept stopping at 73% or 81% and saying it had failed. I then created a DVD using the Windows Create Media Tool. Still didn't work installing it from the DVD. I read down the comments and followed the workaround posted which suggested extracting the contents of the DVD, etc. Extracting didn't come up as an option so I copied the contents instead to a folder on my hard drive, ran the setup exe file from there, then followed the workaround instructions. Worked perfectly although all the updates took FOREVERRRRRRR. Thank you so much to whoever originally posted that. I now have a fully working Windows 10 laptop! Happy days....
I keep trying to update to windows 10 and it goes through all the steps and procedures but after the blue loading screen it says it had failed. (I dont own a hard drive) so is there a way for me to fix this?

I watched this video and installed. It took about 6 hours to download the data. Now, I did not see the prompt to go to the final step of installation. In fact, after 100% download was over, everything disappeared. Now where to find the downloaded file and how to install that?

All the installations go fine. When its at around 70% in the downloading Windows 10 ( after everything is ready) it closes and says Windows 10 installation failed

Anyways, here are the steps to be followed :
Download the ISO for Windows 10(21H1) using the Media Creation Tool.
Extract the contents of the ISO to a folder and run the setup.exe ("Run as Administrator").
On the Install Windows 10 page, click on "Change on how Windows Setup downloads updates".
Select "Not Right Now" and proceed with the upgrade.
@@bhagyabhushan3076 nice explanation! I did it a different way tho, I downloaded the windows 11 iso , I looked around in the files and somehow ended up installing W11 on my unsupported hardware, after that I tried W10 installation again and it worked !

With 8.1 support ending I had to try this. Got the info from someone previous but also saw this as confirmation. Worked like a charm, took several hours on mine but the end result I now have Windows 10.

My “Working on Updates” 2:17 and so is taking + 18 hours by now and is yet at 11%. I’m upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 too. Anyone else with the same problem? Edit: After 22h the loading remained around 14%, but int the last 3 hours it rushed and finished the whole upgrade with around 25 hours. Nevertheless, unfortunately I'll downgrade back to 8.1, because 10 is bugged in my notebook (dunno if cause it's an old machine or if the drivers are out of date), but I'm losing my mind with the bugs and stutters/freezes.

This is not working now ...after 4 hours efforts installation failed
The same was going on i was happy a sudden it showed window 10 cursor frozed my pc got hanged I switched on it just showed nothing and my screen was frezed and now I an scared what will happen please don't try this very worst.
First it stucked at 0% for a while.
And in 1 minutes it start downloading files for only 5-6 sec. Then it stops.. then again starts after 1 minutes and download files for 5-6 sec... That's why
It takes 5-6 hrs to complete the downloading.
The folder size was 3.9 GB (Total)
Iso file was around 3.6GB.(internet usages)
I started updating at 12.30 AM and ended at 5.30 AM.
And then it took 1 hrs to update windows.
And finally I have upgraded my Windows 8.1 pro to windows 10 pro 🙂👌
(Laggy because I have to install some pc driver)

Thank you so much. I just upgraded yesterday. It works indeed. For people who will do it. Make sure your windows 8 is activated and take a photo of your activation key number. It will take between 3to 5 hours. I used WiFi and I kept my laptop on power so the battery will not stop. I also made a backup of all my files. I cannot get past the "Installing Windows 10 - Your PC will restart several times" part. I've tried it multiple times now and fails here every time at around the 70% mark. Right-click on 'This PC'>Properties and see the model, now go on to your browser and search for that model, go to the official site and install all the drivers
