Elvis recorded this version exactly one month after his separation from Priscilla became legal.
I believe he loved Priscilla up until the day he died, I think he sings this so beautifully because he’s singing to her
It's all about Priscilla
No he was dating his new fiancé before he went into the restroom and passed away. But yes, he did write that song about Priscilla P.
She obviously didn't fully love him. Otherwise she wouldn't have taken his kid away and broke his heart. The b!tch is last one standing anyhow.. Hope shes enjoying it....
I loved this reaction so much. There will never be another Elvis and no matter how many years go by I still feel heartbroken he's not with us.
yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
I agree, there will never be another Elvis! But we have the Dutch Elvis, search for “Bouke and the Elvis Matters band”, he is amazing! Saw him live yesterday.
YESSSSS, the king 🤴 🙌 👏 love this song, his voice is so recognizable. 💯💯💯
If I remember correctly, Elvis recorded this at the same time he was getting divorced from Priscilla.
He also recorded Separate Ways (another song you should hear) at the same time. Separate Ways was written by Elvis' high school friend and later body guard Red West.
Rip To The King Of Rock n' Roll Elvis Presley, Still Miss You, Always 😢
“Can’t Help Falling in Love” is still my favorite!!🤘🔥
Talking about covers.
Try UB40 doing this song
@@hals.1844 That is a wonderful story!
@@hals.1844Congrats on 50 years with your beautiful bride.
Agree. And the cut from Kacey Musgraves for the Elvis movie is amazing. Would like to see a reaction on it. The video is so well done.
Elvis made every cover his. Nobody can ever compete with the King.❤❤❤
Make sure to add Elvis's "Blue Christmas" sometime in December. One of my favorite Christmas carols.
His wife left him, and that sense of loss and regret definitely pervades the song.
So beautiful and poignant at the same time. Elvis is a champion and the songs were from his heart. 😢
Elvis can sing anything. Great Gospel singer.
I was born at 1975, I'm a die hard metalhead, but i like Elvis Presley, its like my grandparent.
For me, this version of this song is head and shoulders better than anyone else's, Elvis's voice suits this song soooooooo well
No question of that. Elvis did it best
❤❤❤ no one can do this as good as Elvis
Amen!
Willie
@@RobertoSantana61 not even Willie.
This was Elvis's life
Can you imagine all the music you two may have missed out on if you hadn't started your channel? Good job on you both.😊❤
-definetly !-
Absolutely! It brings me such joy watching this young couple react to all this classic music. ✌️
And all the music I would have forgotten about.
Elvis recorded Always on My Mind on March 29, 1972 & released on October 31, 1972.
Willie recorded & released this song in 1982.
I was blessed to have gone to 2 of Elvis concerts in 1974 & 1975. Elvis’ voice was better live that recorded. He was awesome! ❤❤
Willie Nelson said he liked Elvis version better than his own!
Elvis’ cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water is out of this world!!
Especially the 1970 version from ttwii
Priscilla was such a stunner ❤❤ RIP Elvis and Lisa Marie. And Lisa's son. 😢 Sheesh.
😓
This song was covered by many artists, notably recorded and released by Brenda Lee in 1972, Elvis in 1972 (more a commercial success than Lee), and 10 years later, the Grammy Winner Version by Willie Nelson. The Pet Shop Boys recorded it in 1987.
They definitely need to listen to the Pet Shop Boys take - it's awesome.
Originally written by Mark James who also wrote "Suspicious Minds" for Elvis and "Hooked on a Feeling".
Pet Shop Boys had the bigger hit.
The Pogues 'Fairytale of New York' was denied the 1987 UK Christmas #1 by the Pet Shop Boys version of this song.
Covered by Fantasia in the late 1990s.
Nobody could sing a love song like Elvis ❤
Love hearing Elvis singing these song. He had so many ballards that I loved him sing..❤❤❤
I agree. I think he may have sung more ballads than R&R and R&B.
The Pet Shop Boys have a really fun dance/club version of this song that was a big hit in 1988. It's a great song and is highly, highly recommended for your music channel. (Willie Nelson's version came out in 1982). Fun fact: Elvis' wife was Priscilla Presley who costarred with Leslie Nielson in "The Naked Gun" series.
I love Amber's facial expressions, especially when it's a romantic song like this one.
A real sweetheart.
I love watching these not only for music but this really great couple (lovin' Amber!)
I almost always get tears seeing Amber's emotions
RIP Elvis and Lisa Marie 🙏
Elvis' version was the first commercially successful version.
You should react to Elvis singing, "How Great Thou Art". It's unbelievable.
Priscilla was a stunner.
Absolutely love this song. Only The King can do it true justice.
I love both Willie Nelson and Elvis' versions of this song!! It's so touching to see he and Priscilla and Lisa Marie (RIP) in happier times! Tom Jones was in one of those video clips (they were good friend). The Pet Shop Boys did a pretty good version of this song in the eighties too. 💖💖
There is a reason why he is KING.
He's got great Christmas music too!
Such a big song in my life. Softly As I Leave You by Elvis will honestly have you both in tears. You have been warned. ❤
Sherrill Nielsen does the lion's share of the singing except at the very end when they combine their voices, Elvis speaks throughout the thing,
Elvis takes this song to a whole another level that Willie can not touch.
Have you heard Fantasia's version? Considering her young age when she recorded it, I'm blown away by the soul she brings to it.
@@blackblake3658 I have not heard it. Although Elvis is my all-time favorite singer the Pet Shop Boys do my favorite version of the ones I have heard.
The man who could sing anything. Man I miss him. He died as I turned 18 years old 2 weeks later. Long live the king!
The feeling/soul in Elvis voice is just something else, great reaction
Elvis will always be the king ❤
Still and always !!!!!
Everyone with a heart and who had a relationship feels this song. It's eternal.
The great thing about Elvis, is that he could sing just about any style of music and it would sound fantastic!
A great reaction guys. Elvis sang it in 1972 and Wllie recorded it 10 years later in 82. I love both, but I go with Elvis's version more!
Elvis Presley can make you cry.. not even trying.
Love this classic performed by Elvis❤❤😊willies is ok, but I still prefer Elvis’ take. 😊
Respect to Willie Nelson but there can be only one King!
agreed!
Elvis, obviously, is the one of a king, I mean kind, but, and this is quite exceptional for me, but I would go with the Willie Nelson version on this one.
I watch and listen to the king everyday. Good night Graceland. Yall stay well and groovy my friends. Texas
Love when you guys do the King!! An INCREDIBLE cover he did was "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" . "Just Pretend" and "What Now My Love" are beautiful ones y'all should look in to also :)
Yes, but the live versions!!
Bridge over troubled waters is my favorite by Elvis. So good. Live 74
The King did alot of covers and most are the bomb!
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "All Shook Up" and "Are You Lonesome Tonight"!!!
edit- Brenda Lee did the original recorded version "Always On My Mind", but only reached #45 on the US Country chart. You'll love Brenda Lee's "I'm Sorry" #1 hit. (1960).
The original recorded version was BJ Tomas then Brenda Lee!
BJ released his version two years earlier in 1970.
Gwen McCrea released her version in 1972 followed by Brenda Lee a few months later, although Brenda recorded hers earlier. Elvis released his version later in 72.
Would love to see you react to any live version from Aloha from Hawaii. Suspicious Minds, American Trilogy, etc. All amazing ❤
"Always on My Mind" is a ballad written by Wayne Carson, Johnny Christopher, and Mark James, first recorded by Brenda Lee, and first released by Gwen McCrae (as "You Were Always on My Mind") in March 1972. Lee's version was released three months later in June 1972.
absolutely magnificent! WOW!! ❤
Such an amazing voice with so many songs of tremendous quality or humor or even sadness.
Elvis voice is so unique one of kind love his music it takes a song and make it his own love him a human being
R.I.P Lisa Marie...❤..
Amber, the word you were looking for is vibrato. 😊 The song Always On My Mind is such a classic and has crossed many genres. The song was initially recorded by Brenda Lee but it was first released as a record by Gwen McRae in 1972. Later that same year, Elvis released this version, and it hit the US country charts and the UK top 10. It wasn’t until 10 years later that Willie Nelson released his famous version, which I believe is the most iconic. But the Pet Shop Boys also issued their own version of it in 1987 which is really worth a listen if you haven’t heard it already.
As you watch the footage of family pictures unfold in the video, there is a melancholy feeling reminding us of the loss of his daughter, Lisa Marie, from earlier this year. Yet, in that loss, something beautiful was left behind. Memories.
Elvis sings the song MEMORIES on his 68 Comeback Special after sitting in the round with his fans. It is a poignant gift from the past.
Secondly, Lisa Marie cut a record of her singing with her father, the way Natalie Cole did with her father, Nat Cole, to honor his life.
"I LOVE YOU, BECAUSE." is the song she chose to honor him and reveal the broken heart that still misses her daddy. A bond that is both profound and true. She gives him the lead to remind us how great a singer is before joining him on the gentle hallmark to express how much she still misses him. They finish the song strong, united, and together, which is where they are now. The tribute is honest and true.
Both were troubled souls in their time here on this earth. Elvis, as we all know, was never quite the same after losing his mother, Gladys. Lisa Marie was never able to come to terms with the enormous legacy of being the only child of the legendary performer and his worldwide audience. May they both rest in peace.
LOVE ME,
RECONSIDER BABY, &
(YOU'RE SO SQUARE) BABY,
I DON'T CARE should give us some Elvis to remember. Enjoy
This is one of my favourite Elvis songs. There is a Live version, which is Elvis either rehearsing it or recording it ….. if you possibly can, it’s always best to go with either Live Concert performance or Rehearsal, which are always very good & usually lots of fun, as you get to see Elvis as a person, rather than Elvis as a stage persona …. The two are always different. For example, Elvis off-stage had a rather shy, introvert personality, while on-stage he was the total opposite, & that was his stage persona. He always got very nervous before his concerts, & would sing gospel with his father & backup singers, or his bodyguards & friends would joke around with him, to help keep him calm. But the moment he went on stage, the extrovert persona emerged & he always looked so confident & so comfortable on that stage. He found interviews horrific to do, because of his shyness, but he handled them very well, deflecting questions he knew it would be better not to answer, & he was always so polite & respectful of the media, who loved him. You might enjoy doing some Reactions to his interviews & rehearsals, & certain documentaries, such as Elvis and The Black Community Part One: The Echo Will Never Die …. A number of reactors have done that, & it is a way for reactors to find out how Elvis began his career, because Elvis broke down racial barriers in the South, which practised strict segregation, & he took Black music to White audiences by creating a fusion of Rhythm & Blues, Black Gospel, & Country (also known back then as Rockabilly). Elvis, as a 19 year old teenager, had a very rough go of it, with older White people publicly hating him, burning & hanging effigies of him, White radio stations refusing to play his records. It truly was the stuff nightmares are made of, & aimed at a teenager who just wanted to enjoy music. Elvis was the first White singer to dance about on stage, while playing guitar & singing. All other White singers stood still. People were outraged by that, but young people loved it, & in refusing to change the way he did things, Elvis opened up a new freedom of expression for all future singers, but he suffered for it.
Thank you. But there again Elvis is the best!!!
Elvis was such a great artist. My favorite song by him was suspicious minds.
The Pet Shop Boys also covered this song. It reached the top 10 in the US and #1 in the UK.
Ok now you are ready for EP Just Pretend live 1970 his voice passion look and talking with the fans , nothing ever like it.
Whether it's Elvis or Willie singing, this song always brings a tear to my eye and puts a lump in my throat. Thanks for sharing, Jay and Amber.
James, I agree! Blessings. 🙏
SAME!!! Hard to get through it - I keep thinkin': it'll be over in a minute.... ❤
Pet shop boys did a good rendition too
Fantasia has a beautiful cover of this song.
Elvis, obviously, is the one of a king, I mean kind, but, and this is quite exceptional for me, but I would go with the Willie Nelson version on this one.
You should listen to more Elvis's gospel music. He was definitely one of a kind.
Elvis version of this song just gets to me every time. I feel like you can hear the sadness the emotion in his voice of a man who’s lost the woman he loves to his own neglect of her and that he truly regrets it and wishes he could go back but knows he can’t so he tells her he’s sorry and lists the things he should have did. Some people say that he sang this because of his divorce with Priscilla. I don’t know if that’s true or not but he sure sings his heart out on this one, it seems like he’s digging down deep and it’s personal. Whether it is or not it’s a warning song for every person in a relationship to stop and look at their relationship right now and see if there’s anything they should be doing or saying to show their spouse that they love them, appreciate them and that they mean everything to them. This is a tear jerker of a song when I stop and think about my own marriage of 32 years. You can’t help but hear this song and immediately think of the last fight you just had with your spouse and think that was so trivial and why did I get so upset over that and I need to go and apologize even if the fight is long over and forgotten already. It’s that kind of song and Elvis does this song better than anyone else in my opinion. The arrangement is nice, his voice is always great, his gospel quartet I believe The Jordanaires backing him up are amazing and just the emotion he puts into it an awesome song! Pass me the Kleenex!❤
I will always associate this song with Elvis. 🥰
One of my favourite songs from Elvis ❤❤❤
I've only ever heard Elvis' version & only ever want to ❤
Amber & Jay, first of all Rip to the King of Rock N Roll, Elvis Presley. U guys have to react to Memories by Elvis Presley. Beautiful song.
My favourite Elvis Presley song is “Without Him”.
Their are several awesome covers, but Elvis is the gold standard.
this will always be my fave version of this! ♥
Elvis, Willie Nelson, and even the Pet Shop Boys have done this song. It’d be great if you reacted to all of them.
Elvis had the ability to convey the emotions and not just sing the words. He sang from his soul, and his voice had a magical quality, sprinkled with stardust . He was a one-off, god-gifted, and will forever be in our hearts and never be forgotten .
This and Willie's were both covers, it was first recorded by, Brenda Lee, but it was first released by, Gwen McCrae as "You Were Always On My Mind" in March 1972, followed by Brenda Lee's version in June the same year.
The man can saaang. Try some of Elvis's gospel stuff. He will take you to church. He also does a brilliant version of Bridge of Troubled Water.
Priscilla was at one of his concerts after the divorce. When this song started, he mouthed the words "for you" to her.
At the end of the song...that picture of Elvis and Priscilla was them walking together out of the courthouse when they got divorced. They were together but miles apart in many ways...so this song was meaningful. They seperated in 1972 and divorced in October, 1973.
Memories by Elvis live from 1968 Comeback Special is beautiful!
Awesome reaction i will love and miss my friend Elvis always. We met 10 years before his death i have to make it plain because some people doubt the time frame i really don't care what anyone thinks keyboard warrior's are just jealous we were just friends we both needed a friend and we were that for each other. His death knocked the wind out of me and the funeral broke my heart and soul. People ask me to post memories of my friend some love them and some comment hurtful and hateful things. So i will just keep them all to myself they are tucked safe in my heart forever. If you need to post hateful or nasty things save it because i do not care. love to you and your family from the one and only Memphis Tn.
Elvis' came out in 1972 and Willie's came out in 1982. But it was a cover for Elvis too. Brenda Lee sang it and another woman also. (Can't remember her name)
HI GUYS MORE ELVIS PLEASE AND "ONE NIGHT WITH YOU" FROM THE 1968 COMEBACK TV SHOW IS ELVIS AT HIS BEST!!!
The sentiment behind this song is one that I believe everyone who's ever been in a relationship of trust and love for a significant other has felt at least on some level no matter how inconsequential or perhaps profound. Willie won a Grammy for his release but Elvis put his Presley spin on it and although I love both releases I see Willie's as more of a smokey bar room rendition and Elvis's production as something more of a music hall production..... great reaction and as a side note the Pet Shop Boys actually had a version they released and charted with as well.
This was so nice to hear a Elvis song. I got back from a trip last week to Memphis & while I was there I went to Graceland! If you’re ever go to Memphis you must go to Graceland!!!
Love your t-shirt, Jay! I know it’s about a gym, but where I grew up in Arkansas, we were the Mountain Home Bombers! We even have a jet in front of the high school painted with MHHS Bombers!!! Great place to grow up and be so proud of!! And Elvis was absolutely amazing!! Thanks for the great reaction from both of you! God bless y’all and y’all’s family!!!❤
I love Willie, but when Elvis takes a song, he makes it his own. He even did it with Sinatra's 'My Way,' which is why Elvis is ELVIS! Love you, two!!!
Thank you for having a Cover Song Day & and thanks to all who suggested it. I have playlists devoted to my favorite covers. If I hear a song & love it, especially the lyrics - I will search for other artists particularly in other music genres who covered it. Many times it is an new interpretation. An example is the beautiful TLC song "Waterfalls" covered by the equally great Bette Midler. Bette simgs the song from the mother's point of view & it is heartbreaking.
What? Bette Midler singing my favorite TLC song. Thank you so much for this golden nugget. I have to rush off and find it
Earth Wind and Fire's Got to Get You Into My Life is the only Beatles' cover better than the original.
Beautiful song…great to see the memories of him and Pricilla ❤️
My mom and my brothers and sisters got to see him in concert, just months before he passed away!
Jay and Amber, not sure if you heard the song “ Memories”. It’s a beautiful song!
The King! You need to listen to Elvis sing "What Now My Love" from his Aloha from Hawaii Concert (1973, I believe) . That whole concert was amazing. He also performed the American Trilogy... it was beautiful. Love your work and thanks for the entertainment. My wife and I grew up in the 60's, 70's, etc. Yes I remember partying to AC DC during my college years! They rocked but Elvis will always be "The King !"
Elvis was and will always be the best
This is one of my favorite Elvi's songs. Another great and beautiful version is the one by the Pet Shop Boys.
Regards from Chile!
Emotional song and Elvis sells it. Great version.
اعظم فنان على مر العصور لم ولن يتكرر الملك بدون منازع
I had a huge crush on Elvis and this was one of my favourite songs he did, I was 13 at the time, brings back so many memories
I’m sorry but THIS version is the best because of what’s behind his singing. You can feel his sorrow, pain, and regret because this was during his ending marriage w/ Priscilla. ❤️
Thank you for this.
The best for you. I prefer Fantasia and Willie's versions.
LOVE THEM ALL.... BUT ELVIS WAS THE EMOTIONS WHERE IN IT
AND VOCALS❤

I never comment but I've been a subscriber for about two years. I just wanna say I'm 69 years old and I love you guys like family!
Another Elvis suggestion: Tryin' To Get To You from his '68 Come-back Special is AWESOME! :)
You would have to be blind not to see that he did love her regardless of who's side you're on.❤
The greatest voice of all time!
Love me some Elvis.. love it ❤ Nostalgic for me
You can't go wrong with Elvis. You guys must see the video of Elvis singing Are You Lonesome Tonight and he can't stop laughing. He always had a sense of humor and never took himself too seriously.
Amber! I feel you totally! I mean Elvis & Priscilla! Iconic! ❤😊
Love this song 🎵 amazing 👏
This song was originally released in 1972 by Gwen McCree and covered later that same year by Elvis. Willy Nelson's cover was in 1982.
Amber would probably get emotional if y'all did "Don't Cry Daddy". Such a powerful song!!!!!!! Love your reactions! Have a great day!!
Imagine seeing him live ,I did at 12 years old in 77 3 months before he passed great show you've never herd screaming at a concert like his it was surreal
