Elvis is still on our minds. What a beautiful voice& man. The beetles went to visit Elvis. They went in the house & just stared at him. He said if you are just going to stare & sY nothing I'm going to bed.
I had never believed it when my professor in college, both a musicologist and professional symphony musician, himself, told me that he viewed Elvis Presley to be the greatest overall singer of all time. "Why?," "What the hell?," so many of us said? With him first going on to ask what's Frank Sinatra's greatest and/or signature song? "My Way," someone eventually said and then the professor proceeded to show us various polls from over the years which listed Sinatra as the greatest singer ever. Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin were also on top of some, and Elvis, too, on a few. But the point of the exercise was to simply show us Sinatra was considered by many, though it's subjective, to be the greatest. The class then listened to Sinatra's "My Way," and then Elvis' version, back to back. With the room being roughly split as to whose version was better, "which proved what I thought?" But then the professor showed us Elvis rocking out to 'Trying to Get to You' from the Elvis 1968 Comeback Special. With the point ultimately being that regardless of whose version of 'My Way" you preferred, Elvis was right there, totally at home playing in Sinatra's backyard for lack of better parlance. But as to Sinatra playing in Elvis' backyard, he said, it couldn't be done, as he said "[i]magine Sinatra, (who he totally loved) trying to do that rock number?" Then going on to say that he had found no singer who had ever sang more genres, more majestically, than Elvis, & he challenged us to find out for ourselves by looking at his full catalogue of Rock, Pop, Soul, Country, Ballads, Gospel and more. And, when done, I admit I became a convert who was so, so doubtful, at first, I can't even begin to tell you. But from rocking out to 'Trying to Get to You' from that Elvis 1968 Comeback Special, to singing about the dream of humanity coming together with "If I Can Dream," from the same show, I believe you will see what I mean. Elvis even had a voice that could be operatic if you go and listen to 'Hurt' and his version of "You'll Never Walk Alone" will tell you why he has also sold more gospel records than anyone, as well as just tons more, overall. But, with pop and 'Such A Night' to a ballad such as 'They Remind Me Too Much of You,' he did it all, and so, so damn well. While for soul, check out 'Long Black Limousine' or 'You're Wearin' That Loved on Look' which is a bit of another number. Because as Elvis' one album cover says, there's 'Something for Everybody.' Also, and if ultimately you don't think Elvis is the best, that's totally cool as there really is something for everyone!;-) Great channel and I wish you the best!!! ~ Christopher Tyler P.S. Those recommendations are only, quite literally, the beginning!
Seperate ways, from the same year can be regarded as a follow up to this. It was written to Elvis by Elvis' good frein Red West, and in my oppinion is just as good. Elvis had so many great songs that it is almost unbelievable.
Cliff & Elvis - what more could I want ❤ poignant song & beautifully sung by the King. Great reaction & request 🥰 Elvis was the Ren of his time, way ahead in terms of equality, respect & understanding of his fellow human & the connection of struggles, pain & joy in music 🙏
Beautiful reaction. Even after all these years , this one can make me sad. And it always brings to mind the King and his Queen. Whether anyone else likes her or appreciates what she did to give Elvis to us, forever, I will always feel attached to the two of them at that time.
"You'll Think of Me", "Kentucky Rain", and "Edge of Reality" are three of Elvis' best. Mucically, YTOM is the best, Vocally, KR is the best. and Edge of Reality is just super ethereal.
Hi ❤ the song speaks volumes about reflection .. looking at the things you did wrong and understanding and taking responsibility for the things you did that wasn't cool . That's how I take it anyway. Love the reaction
@Cliff the daughter in this is Lisa Marie - she was married to Michael Jackson.. how awesome would it have been if the two "kings" could have performed together?? Love you & always.. Elvis!
P.s. Elvis said something else that made them relax & laugh. He was better looking& was magnetic in person. His pictures didn't doing Justice( nor movies) Elvis was drop dead beautiful in person.
Hello, hope you are feeling better, Elvys' voice is Perfect for ever The king. I am sugesting one special song: Shakiras' song NO live where She is wearing a red dress.
Hey Cliff I never comment or request songs but I would absolutely love it if you could check out, “Zac Brown Band” Grandmas Garden. Such a touching and loving song, however I don’t think he is the original, you can feel every single words he sings. Keep up the good work, thanks
A lot of people believe that for some reason, but it's not true. The song was written by a 3-man songwriting team (Mark James, Johnny Christopher, and Wayne Carson). The first artist to record it was Brenda Lee, but another singer named Gwen McRae recorded and RELEASED her version 3 months before Lee's was actually released. Elvis recorded it a few months later. This all happened in 1972. Willie Nelson didn't do his version until a decade later in 1982.

Elvis 68 comeback live performance. You won’t be disappointed.
Seriously, his finest hour. Born to wear that leather suit, he was sheer perfection. Voice, talent, dancer, funny man and very sweet natured ❤

In the Ghetto is another great Elvis song
MY WAY from his last performance. He was so sick but he could still sing.
Seperate ways, from the same year can be regarded as a follow up to this. It was written to Elvis by Elvis' good frein Red West, and in my oppinion is just as good. Elvis had so many great songs that it is almost unbelievable.

It's easy to forget just what kind of voice he had. An amazing song.
For something different, please react to "Surrender", it really shows off the operatic quality of his voice.

Willie Nelson wrote this, check out his version

Willy Nelson version is best. Thanks for the content
