Picked up my XT2 LX42 yesterday. Picked it for all the same reasons you did. Would have bought the same one you did but I could not find one anywhere near me. Not one Cub Cadet dealer had any 42 inch mowers. Found this one at a farm supply store and spent the extra money. Hope all goes well with it and I can't wait to use it. I bought one in February for 2500 was a little higher price cuz it came from and actuall equipment dealer who does all the warranty work. I read that is hard to get places like TSC or Home depot to actually warranty stuff. Plus my dealer said they would even come get it so I don't have to haul it to them so I thought and extra 300 bucks seemed reasonable for what they all offer

    • @lyman135

The store does not warranty it, the manufacturer does. You have to take it to a dealer for one to work so it doesn't matter about the store.

746 hours on my 2014 LT1046. Kohler 22Horse Vtwin. Runs great still to this day. Doesn't burn or leak a drop of oil. Grew up as a big John Deere guy but Cub Cadet hasn't given me any room for complaints yet. (I've always been religious on maintenance every spring so that does help.)

Mine is a 2013 ltx1040, which except for the transmission is identical, underneath the new looking skin. It's been a good mower, but I'm not a fan of how the deck is hung in the front. It does fine in real smooth yards, but if the yard is bumpy or uneven the deck rocks around a far bit leaving a not so beautiful cut. The deck itself has held up ok,but I'll probably never buy another mower with a manual pto engagement, because after years of use it's not as positive as it once was and cable replacement is a pain. Hope you enjoy it,its a nice lookin machine.

Just got it last week. So far, so good, but I haven't mowed yet since it has been so dry. I like the bumper and might order one if I can find out where to get it. I got it with the mulch kit installed ($95). I traded in my Husqvarna 16 rider which I really loved, but it is 20 years old and things continue to break. This time it was the throttle cable. They gave me $200 which isn't much but better than sitting it in my driveway with a "For Sale" sign on it. I also got 2% off for paying cash and 5% off for military. So $2,195.29 delivered. At Al-Joes in Hamilton, Ohio.
I really hope this will be a good one and I love being able to cut in reverse.

Just ordred mine from Home Depot today. It should be here tomorrow. I was seriously considering a Cub Cadet Zero Turn but I have acreage and This will work out better for gardening and hauling stuff around my very large yard. It should be here tomorrow and I am so excited! I am upgrading from a 15 year old Poulan 38 inch 15.5 hp Riding mower which in all honesty, has served me very well, but the last couple of years I have noticed that the deck just can not stay even anymore and I can see lines in my lawn from the uneven deck. Plus it is just time and my back can not handle that mower anymore lol. When I get it tomorrow I will def give you some updates :) I am excited to be in the Cub family! ( My GF says I should put a Transformers logo on it since it looks like Bumblebee )

Very comfortable seat and love the automatic on it and the instant reverse makes it so nice to mow and I was very surprised at how sharp it actually turns. The gas tank is really nice. I like not having to pop the hood in order to pour gas. I know that's trivial but minor conveniences like that are important to me, like also now having a cup holder lol.

Kohler's engine user manual states if you use their Pro 10w-50 synthetic and their Pro filter you can go 300 hrs. I agree with you it seems too long, but they're the bosses. My old Cub Cadet is 16yrs old and only has 261 hrs on it (I only have just over a 1 acre lawn, and didn't snowblow with it) and I can't imagine not changing the oil in 16yrs! My new one will be all season, but still, I can't imagine not changing the oil in 8 years either.

@nitrorc4life1 The nice thing about it is we're justified with either perspective, changing the oil is not hard nor expensive, so we can do it every month if we want to. Or if we want to let it go longer, Kohler themselves say we can.

  • @lakearea296

I like Cub Cadet but I bought one GT 1554 new and that thing has been nothing but problems. Belt always falling off or breaking. I'd literally have to put the belt back on 15 times on a mow that should have taken 30 minutes. So, I decided the hell with mowing and I put a snow blower on it, same thing. Now the damn thing is sitting in my garage turning to rust because the pile of shit won't start. I literally used it to just drive around because that's all it was good for, now it won't even do that. I really want to give them another chance so I'm kind of hoping that you can do another more recent video of this mower so I can see if it's worth my time to buy another new one. Like you, I hope Cub Cadet sees this and sends me a rider for free being I've pissed away 6k on the mower, belts, other mechanical issues and the snowblower along with it not running now. I think it only has 500 hrs on it. Nothing but a headache from the beginning.

I clocked mine going 7mph uphill with the blades going and it turns on a dime!! mine seems to turn tighter than 16" but don't know how to check that. I don't know where you heard you can go 300 hours without an oil change but I wouldn't do it.... I would go with the owner manual and change every 50 hours using 10-30 like it calls for in the warranty, but you do you. once again thank you!!

Welcome! Take a look at the manual again. If you use the Kohler pro 10w50 oil and filter the service interval is 300 hours. If you just use the standard 10/30 oil and filter the service interval is 100hrs or annually. This is all straight from my Kohler 5400 series owners manual.

Wait till you do try changing the oil. That adapter always spins loose at the block. Same issue for the last 20 years. Be prepared to grab it with pliers. I have an LTX-1046 with a 26 hp Kohler. Found a trick to add a 3/8 x 4 inch nipple, followed by a ball valve. I screw in a short nipple with a 5/8 plastic hose and tip the tractor with a jack to drain. No buddy I haven't had that issue. Sorry you are tho. I did my 3rd mow with it and I'm at 4.5hrs. Everything is going well so far. I want to do another video on it here soon. Kinda like a 5 hour review. But my internet has been down for 6 days. So I can't upload. They're working to get it fixed but who knows when. It's a wiring issue somewhere between my house and the box about a mile away.

If you mean the the yard looks dug out in spots, and uneven it might be your scalping wheels are not right.

@@Cornealious I figured it out it was a worn out lock nut so a defect

@@prestoneaster9175 That crossed my mind but I didn't mention it because it was practically new. Glad you got it fixed though.

I bought a new craftsman t 110 the other day and it's very similar. Out the door it was 2247

It's similar because MTD owns both.

I had to add a couple of waterproof connectprs on my 2021 model, as they use cheap shit open ended plugs.
If you get the mulch kit, you will have to modify it as the way they have attached is just...woeful.
I pulled the small little steel bar in the seat deadman switch as our property is bumpy in places, and it would cut the mower out if i hit a good bumo & bounced a tad higher.
Change the hydrostatic oil @ 50 hrs (not the recomended 200hrs), as it increases the life of the trans heaps (according to Tuff Torq itself).
I chamge the oild & filter every 25hrs, as the dust here in Australia gets in everywhere, also change the air filter every 75hrs as they get a lot of crap thrown into it (will be looking at doing a oil bath style kinda filter soon)

Can anyone tell me if i could change the battery to a regular 12 volt battery? The 2022 model comes with much smaller size batter and more expensive to replace. Look at your battery size on 2022 models you know what i am asking lol

Did you ever do a follow up video? I looked I couldn’t find it. I like the look of the mower. And the kohler engine. But I would like a follow up. It’s either this or another JD rider. Thanks.
