I hate to be that guy but just want to say that there aren’t 3 overdrives in this transmission. 5th is your overdrive and 4th is usually 1:1 in most transmissions but in the Mazda G5P like in this particular model it’s actually 1.03:1. Just a little something I’ve learned. I’m always trying to learn about vehicles every day considering I’ll be a mechanic after college. I do like the 2nd gen shifter though that’s cool. I’m actually getting a 2nd gen with a 5 speed.
@@cyclonus01 I have the same car but only 4x4. Mine has 188,000 miles on original clutch. It's not the clutch but the driver abusing or not- the clutch.
@@cyclonus01 about 8 months ago. It's also a rare model. Auto/intelligent 4wd 5 speed 2.3l not the 2.0. a grandmother had it pretty much garage kept and only used it to pick up grandkids and take her dog out. The car has the dealer sticker in the glovebox and all maintenance paperwork it was babied. I got really lucky.
Yeah I’m sure you could, you would obviously swap out the flex plate for a flywheel and a bit of mucking around with clusters and ecu some cars I’ve heard you need to drill dowels in the crank for some reason I’m no mechanic so don’t quote me 😂
awesome
Man I want that roof rack.

Dude thank you. I've been shitting on this guys opinion on the gears for a while now.
Hey Jack, does it share same parts with Mazda Tribute 2002 manual transmission?
i have the 2002 5speed escape and its very different in side
Where did you get the shifter and shifter boot? Thanks
How does the shift knob come off? I know it has a pinch clamp but after you cut the clamp does it unscrew or?...
Just tug hard, that’s it
What kind of gas mileage do you get? Any known issues?
23MPG, actually lost 5th gear in the car around 170k miles but rides great in 4th. Still get 23MPG.
@@NLSNMedia you're telling me it went 170k miles on its original clutch?

I have an 05 and it came stock with that same shifter
Same
How many miles? Any issues?
@@cyclonus01 mines almost at 90k it has zero issues never even had a light on. Did a full scan of everything even the black box when I purchased it.
@@xxskitsxx15 how long ago did you buy it? A manual escape with low miles is pretty rare

Where is this vehicle currently located.
Still in Florida
It's a very nice one. 2wd or 4wd? Sure, I'd like to see the highway video.
2WD, runs awesome on the highway, you can cruise at 90MPH all day.
I have the same car in 4 wheel drive and I've cruised at 90 many times
Hi there! is it the same transmission thats on a Zetec 2.0L? thanks.
Good morning, they are not interchangeable. The Escape uses a 2.3L Duratec engine and different transmission.
Found out that the manual transmission mated to a Zetec 2.0L powered escape is a Mazda G5M-R transmission. Thanks.
Okay here’s the question can I swap an XLS trans into my XLT?
Ive been wanting to know if this is possible as well. I want to drop a 6cyl into my 4wd xls stick but haven't seen or heard of any 5speed 6 cyls
