I seriously doubt that this was fraud. More likely due to miss communication. What did the fuel receipt say? You might want to get another fuel card bc the cashier is asking for too much information. Any time I have to go inside the TA because the screen is inoperable on the fuel pump, I only give 2 numbers, truck number and ID number, that's it.
Doesn't sound like a scam, more like a mistake.
What she probably did by accident was swiped your card to a wrong pump and the next guy came and pumped his semi for free and he may of not known either…

Man this is on you if I activate the pump inside and then walk to my truck and find at the pumps not working what I'm going to do is go back inside and say hey you forgot to activate the pump what I'm not going to do is pay twice

@@entremikeyou payed to activate the pump twice the reason it took two hours for you to get charged for the second activation is because most truckers won't use a pump that has a bad screen because they don't know what they're paying for 2 hours later a semi pulls in does the same thing you do accept this payment doesn't go through and you get charged because the pump was already activated a responsible truck stop would have blocked off the pump until it was repaired

Leave your truck in front of the pump and go back in to get a receipt the purchase would then be finalized and the pump shut off preventing this from happening
Why would you go Back to the pump, After getting the pump activated inside, and then bother to reinter, your information, into the Pump After getting outside, to your Truck, you probably activated the pump for the person whom came to the pump After you left, when you get the pump activated inside, never reinter your info, and always go Back in and ask for your receipt, with that receipt. They can't add to the Purchase, by you not going in and getting your Receipt, the Pump was still on, So it appears that you caused yourself to become Defrauded.

Am a class A driver - always company. I have a few issues with the situation:
It’s hard to know if it was a scam or things just got mixed. If it was an honest mistake, you made enemies out of honest workers who get paid a pittance. On the other hand, once upon a time, I worked as an associate at a gas station. If it wasn’t the customers running scams, it was the coworkers.
Suggest you use intercom to request they reset the pump. They might request that you check every pump is properly in the off setting. (DEF will hang up weird sometimes.) If intercom is broken, call the store and select the fuel desk. If they want you to come in, ask what information they usually need. Better still, just go around and get in line for another lane. I know it’s a time-suck, but worth it if scam avoided.
Also, suggest you not make known that you travel with sums of cash. Keep a high balance credit or debit card and use ATMs when cash is needed. The bank fees are sometimes usurious, but worth it to keep the target off of you. Sometimes, other truckers are the worst hustlers. Among random con artists and other bandits, you have law enforcement to worry about. If the police came along just in time to stop an armed robbery, they might just confiscate the cash to keep for themselves. It’s called civil asset forfeiture. There are many RUclips videos on the subject. Suggest Steve Lehto.

The 2nd transaction happened 2 HOURS after I fueled.
Pump was off, she took info, then she turned it on, you put info in, you just got charged double, get ahold of their head office they will reimburse
Sound to me like the cashier put in the wrong pump # that is why I always go in after I get fuel and get the receipt
No, because the transaction happened almost 2 hours after I left.
I had an issue with an EFS check. I fought it and got my money back. Keep your receipts even if they said it didn’t work or go through.
All I tell them is truck number and driver ID. Never the mileage. I can pull that off the ELD
I got scammed at a regular gas pump. In St Louis or somewhere stop in an unmanned fuel island. No building just fuel island. There's a younger guy sitting nearby. Pull up to pump he walks up asks if he can pump the gas. I say no thank you, and slide card start pumping. Start cleaning windshield. He says don't worry I got this for you and starts asking about traveling etc. Asks if I want it topped off etc. He's standing at the nozzle...I'm thinking he just wants money for doin it. Ok fine he can finish it but I'm not payin anything I said no. He's a nice young very polite saying yes sir etc. I'm trying to find his angle...nothing is registering. So it finishes and clicks off. He pulls it out and seems to hang it up close door says you're all set. Ok still seems odd...but whatever. So check CC later and see like $90 charge, car only holds like 15ga so total would be maybe $30 at that time. Hmm call CC they say need a Police Report, Ok call and report it get a # and then give that to CC and they credit the difference. I'm guessing he didn't actually push nozzle in to shut off pump. I leave he calls a buddy cuz there's NO vehicles around. They pull up and fill up...AH a good scam they got me 1 time. Never again...I knew there was something goin on just couldn't figure it out quick enough.
Or get a receipt and don’t just leave and wait for your statement
Its not a matter of "if" but a matter of "when"..y'all.. In this day and hour use credit card only if at all possible. I saw the writing on the wall last year and finally got a credit card. I got hit up at the gas pump and mechanic shop this year.... Mechanic shop for $1700 but I reversed the charge. Check your account as often as possible and frisk the "F" out of the pumps.... shake'em rattle'em and tap'em... and hope for the best.
It hit me hard, you know how hard it is keeping up with your cash flow alone in this business & that basically made a load I did pointless that week.. thanks for the comment bro🔥

Is there a way to get vehicle data on your phone? I mean sure you can use a note pad app but just wondering if there is a way. A receiver plugged into the OBD port maybe!! Totally understand that sucks! Money is made when wheels are rolling down the road with a load!

Moral of the story never do fuel card pins in person but also check for a card reader at the pump. I use business credit card in person never have to type in pins just truck number, co name, miles optional and quantity $ fueling. So far so good.

I've had a issue similar and the card is usually backed by a bank I just disputed my transaction and the maximum amount at fill ups going back 4 month and they credited my card back the $200 plus my bus at the time couldn't hold that amount of fuel to justify the transaction.

Man I know that it's dangerous, but I always Carry cash money for everything I purchase on the Road just for this very reason! Now I always keep my Glock 43 in my pocket as well, but I don't want to shoot anyone. I keep it just so I have a fighting chance if someone tries to rob me, you know as well as I do that there are certain Truck stops out there where those lot lizards and their pimps are doing nothing but trying to rob Truckers! Is it me or does it sound like you contributed to this. Sounds like they possiblibly started the wrong pump and then you ran your card on a different pump and then someone came in and used your prepaid pump and got free fuel.
But if you use your debit card you don't get that fuel discount .

Glad you told us about this scam bro. Whoever's on that fuel desk was definitely selling fuel on you're card. Probably a local driver who they know..
(Maybe) She put the wrong pump number in and the truck next to you got the fuel on your account. That's why it wasn't set up when you got outside. Or they could've had a fake card scanner.. those have been popping up at registers in 711s(employee inside jobs) I've seen several videos. But I would call them back and ask them to check the other pumps totals/tickets to see if another driver got it. However it's on them.

Sounds like the cashier turned on the wrong pump. Definitely her mistake. $668 is probably a big truck that filled up on the pump the cashier turned on. You can log into your account online (or have your RTS account rep) set daily fuel gallon and def limits on your card. That way you are more protected. Good luck to you bro and stay safe out here

So in your case, it would be easy for them to disapproved or approved , cameras, signing for the fuel., on pump usage any person can extrapolate that 50gals of diesel is not going to cost 600+ usd.
Also, it might not be a scam. people do make mistake. She might have been dealing you and 5 other customers and she mistakenly apply your details to truck on fuel island 2 line 5 and you where at island1 lane 8 . Just sayin but yes file a complaint and follow up.
btw fuel theft is getting high now. With fuel at 4.89-5.10 per gallon and in some areas over 6.5 usd , it will get worst b4 it gets better.

I use to work at a gas station. She activated the wrong pump #. Human error. She might have activated pump # 5 instead of pump #6. When you said you went outside and it wasn’t activated…that’s because someone else was fueling with your card info. Lots of sneaky people out there. The mileage is only for your record/card records. Also, when you got two different bills, that’s because two pumps were going. $600 is definitely a semi truck. I’m sure TA has it in there system which pumps were activated with your card info. Try to see if you could put a time limit on how often you could fuel(big carriers won’t let you fuel again until 2 hours have past to avoid this fraud). I think you could get reimbursed from TA for their employees mistake. I’m sure they can see which trucker fueled and got away with it. That person could be charged or forced to pay up. Contact TA’s higher ups.

Im at more like $1800-2400 a week now. Like $400 a day, if you're only paying $800 a week you're only working 2 days a week.
