You are correct my semi was in shop 3 weeks and them bills kept coming bank account dwindled very quick back out here building it back up funny thing it was warranty work and still money gone.....

@@entremike I almost bought a box truck then saw its not as easy as some guys say they leave out the things you are saying in video.then almost went into hotshot trucking but I started doing research on that and changed my mind I'm sticking to my rentals.

Maybe I'm off, but for me I think focusing on paying yourself a decent livable wage is key. I know for me I can live off of 50k a year, so if you grind and make 200k in renvue annually and you pay yourself 50k out of that, that's leaves you a lot of wiggle room for expenses and expansion. Now you have money to invest new equipment, perhaps hiring help to buy yourself out of one part of the business. Maybe by year two or three you can now afford to hire a dispatcher, who can help out with aspects and allow to focus your energy on a different aspect of the business. The box truck game can work, I think it's all about your mindset and discipline. I also think it's good to at some point purchase a tractor trailer, Sprinter van, and maybe even a dump truck as well. I think having multiple types of equipment types can be really beneficial when seasons change and rates Maybe worst for others vehicles or even fuel can be higher for another vehicle as well, the ability to switch things up can really help. @@disarmyou84 Dispatching yourself can be done, it is a lot of work tho. Especially filling out the carrier packets for brokers you never worked with yet. That's the ONLY time me having a dispatcher mattered. I have booked some of my HIGHEST paid loads ever MYSELF, one time, WITH a dispatcher, load was just sitting right there on the load board, got NO CALL from my dispatcher.

I quit after 2 months of hotshot. Not because of driving or cost of operations but because of how low rates are. The whole trucking system is a joke. You forgot to mention taxes. Truckers will have to pay serious tax on the amount of money they make that year trucking. Scam within a scam.
Did you take advantage of the tax deductions and reinvest you profits into other assets
