      This is why I enjoy watching your videos, you keep it real. I'm like the other guy though and feel like I'm on a rollercoaster ride, do I do it or don't I, do I or don't I. I've dealt with brokers before and actually had one hang up on me when I had one answer the same way as you described and I asked him what his problem was. My thought was if this guy didn't want to be bothered with calls about the load, why the f*** did he post it. Stay safe and keep it real 💯.

    I was stuck in area with no loads expect for this one that was paying like 1.30$ a mile. It was getting close to the end of the day going into the weekend and I was really not trying to sit for 2 more days. I called on that load and the broker was telling me that’s all he’s got in on that load and that he’s gonna lose money for any more than that. I told him give me a few minutes to think about it. I got lucky and a 2$ a mile load pops up so I booked that instead . The first broker called me back I told him I found something else and he instantly tells me he can do 2$ a mile when couple minutes ago he was crying that he was going to be losing money if he payed any more than 1.30$. They really out finnesing drivers. I don’t think all brokers are bad but don’t believe their whining.

      Wow, the issue with the industry is that there is too much sale tactics-manipulation, and very little transparency and honor. Survival of the fittest. But every pendulum going one way will always come back the opposite direction with the same fierce cutting power. I don’t want the freight industry to complaint when more and more drivers exit trucking and when future potential drives stay away from this predatory industry.

      @matthew6202 Год назад +46

      @@broyaradmykaal4557 depending on what you’re pulling and the price of fuel it’s close to .78 to .99 a mile just for fuel, insurance will run .12-.20 cents a mile, then you have tires .04 a mile, maintenance oil changes and air filters .03 a mile, brakes last around 40,000 miles so that costs roughly .01 a mile. Even without overhead your cost per mile is $1.27 minimum. Then you got food cost runs .12 a mile. So you’re at $1.40 a mile, then you got 10% to put away for maintenance that’s .20 a mile so you’re at $1.60 a mile now. You put away 30% for taxes so you’re at $2.20 a mile now. You will slowly be going out of business. This is why they say most hotshots don’t make it 6 months. I’m just saying I have a successful hotshot company with 3 trucks and 2 semi trucks. You guys need to stop taking cheap freight they have a lot more on the load then you know. Negotiate hard and fill your trailer with partials be strategic with it and you can succeed. Keep in mind these numbers are based on you owning all of your equipment and doesn’t even include maintenance on the trailer. I’m not hating I want all hotshots to succeed but there is a lot to learn if you aren’t learning something new everyday you are going to fail.

    Your part of the reason I started my box truck company bro. Was running strong for 4 months with my own authority n everything. Crooks at repair shops took me out of business. Imagine paying 15k in repairs and your truck still not being able to run. 15K in they said that they think its an electrical problem that I need to bring it else were. Truck sat for 4 months while still paying 1900 dollar insurance. Took it to another shop and they charged me 8k to fix it(was not an electrical problem) .28K spent just because I have to rely on people to do right, I couldnt even sleep at night.I was emotionally distraught. I just wanted my truck back so i could run. If trucking was my only income at that time I would be on the streets. It’s like nobody treats you like a human in this industry , your literally a walking atm machine. Its Straight cut throat!!! Between the repair shops and being disrespected by the brokers who treat us like shit . I just realize this is not the industry for me. I would rather be a dispatcher, or anything else that doesn’t require owning a truck. It felt like a dark cloud with the trucking business. Everybody gets a piece of your pie while you get all the left over crumbs and deal with all the extra headaches while working the hardest.Being away for weeks, time spent from ya family, driving on them dangerous streets just didnt make sense for me. I ended up selling the truck when prices for them were insane and ended up breaking even. Thank god! I just want to salute you for still doing your thing bro. I'll add on to this even though it's an old post. Two facts of reality everyone needs to realize.... 1) In every commercial industry, be it road, rail, or air, it's an economic race to the bottom...and 2) Too many operators in any industry only makes the race to the bottom that much faster. This imbalance sets up the dog-eat-dog and the "I'll do it for nothing" mentality. And all of the "make six-figures in trucking" youtube videos over the last 2 years didn't help matters either. My industry is aviation and the trucks I drive have wings on them and it's the same thing....too many pilots for too few high paying airline jobs available means a lot of lower paying flying jobs at the lower tier companies. Fortunately, I fly for one of the highest paying companies, but on the journey to get there, there were too many sh!!^ty low paying flying jobs I had to endure to get there.

I’m not sad because I do hot shot loads but because of all the comments for box truck loads. I’m new to this industry. I mean new new as in a week new. And, reading these comments has me shaking in my boots, as far as the industry slowing down and not too much work etc. I got into the industry knowing it would be tough so I’m not afraid of that. But as a female in this industry I have to admit, I’m a bit shaken! Best of luck to everyone out here working, trying to make a living for their family via the trucking, transportation industry! Today a broker got extremely rude with me after claiming my authority wasn't active because she was using Carrier 411, a bogus service out of Lakeland, Florida. They create lies about owner operators on the site and truckers can't dispute any bogus complaints/information, no one talks about it either! Long story short they claimed it was a glitch 😒, but it cost me that load!

      Unfortunately you have all these Chinese drivers who cannot speak English who take these load cheap , they don't know how to calculate expenses , so eventually they go out of business, what needs to be done , I'd get ride if brokers completely they are crooks and useless, they are there to take 60 to 65% of the load and give you the rest , that's why they are millionaires while drivers are barely surviving, they need to be abolished permanently they corrupt and criminals , they are stilling money from everybody

Some new drivers do not qualify for loads so they take anything trying to pay for expenses and equipment. Couple that with people running loads without any type of authorization for next to nothing.

    I agree with everything you said. I can honestly say it's nice not having a truck or trailer note in the current market. I know we sat yesterday because the rates are so bad that its just not worth trying to run for cheap. Fuel going up and rates are at an all time low. Hope to find something tomorrow if not then the truck will sit again and ill go get some welding jobs lined up. LOL thats what i was doing before i got my CDL anyways.

    • @matthew6202
      @matthew6202 Год назад +1

      You know everyone says the rates are bad and this and that. But we all know the brokers have way more than they are saying. So I tried an experiment which you should try to and it will boggle your mind. I called quite a few brokers posing as a shipper needing loads moved that I’ve done before so I could compare the rates. The amount they quoted me for anything from hotshots to 53’ was around $7-$10 a mile. I was like wow why so much all I hear from truckers is the rates are too low to run. He says well you have the cost of diesel is at an all time high right now, deadhead costs because of the bad freight area, loading and unloading time, line haul rate, fuel surcharge, and tarping costs. It’s funny how this is all the stuff we try to argue with brokers about every day when we negotiate loads. I’m glad I don’t have to deal with them I’ve gained enough direct customers to keep me moving 24/7. But yeah try to call multiple brokers it’ll boggle your mind what they quote shippers compared to what they give us owner operators! The numbers comes out to them actually making more than us on a load which will piss you right off since we are the ones out there spending money on fuel hauling loads being away from our families and all they doing is sitting at a computer!!
