    Good stuff Mike on the analysis of the cost to run both, however, when it comes to rates and load availability the box truck has more loads than hotshot. In addition, hotshot rates range between .50/mi to $1.50 at best. As an owner who has operated both, I found it more difficult moving a hotshot than a box truck. You should make a video on how these brokers should stop robbing carriers with these ridiculous rates!!!

    Very good video. The part i disagree in your analysis is you factor the cost of hotel which depends to the driver. I usually get an hotel but some driver sleep in thier box truck particularly the international.. the Seats are ok just like sleeping in the back of your your pick up truck. You also should put a value … labor expenses for the work you put in tarpiing , strapping load

    • @entremike
      @entremike  2 года назад +1

      Very true, hotshots in my opinion will have better rates due to the variety of load types there are. We charge different due to what we’re hauling. No one is tarping a load for less than 2.25 / mile nowadays . And while you can sleep in the box truck, in comparison it’s not as comfortable as the crewcab hotshot sleeper setup in my opinion!🔥

    Great video man! One thing I will say is a hotshot driver is those rates that you are saying are the averages are nothing close to what is being posted on the load boards. If you get a load paying $2 to $2.50 OTR for a hot shot you were lucky! You could find them but they are rare. Hell you know just as well as I do that they are posting loads for $.30 and on average they might be a dollar per load. When you post things like this it gets more people in the business and I feel like it could set them up for defeat once they get on the loadboards and see that the loads are not all at 2:50 to 3 dollars a mile. It’s not like that at all. I would think that those rates that they are posting are not for hot shots though my brother. Anyways, it’s kind of scary when you’re telling people that these kind of rates are there and they might assume they are there every day. Then next thing you know they are doing two or $3000 a week and shutting their business down. Love your videos though bro! Sorry if there are some misspellings as I am doing speak to text. Thanks again!

    • @entremike
      @entremike  2 года назад +1

      No you’re fine! I was comparing hotshot to flatbed , those are obviously not flatbed rates. I’m currently moving for loads over $2/mile myself. I’ll sit before I pick up a load paying $1/ mile knowing half of it is going to fuel . I’m just showing people that overall hotshot is still more profitable than boxtrucks. Thanks for your input, maybe I left that out!

    • @darrelltuma4553
      @darrelltuma4553 2 года назад +1

      I hear you brother, it just kind of makes it look like that is the current rates so it is a little misleading. You posted a couple of pictures that had your rate per mile on there and that is a rare event. Might be good to talk about the current situation with rates and why some of these rates are so low. I think a lot of newbies get into the business and then they see that freight is not 2+ dollars a mile every day and then they end up picking up $.50 a mile loads and it keeps the prices down for people like you and me. You have a lot of influence over people and although what you are saying is 100% correct, hotshots will make more money than box trucks. It’s just not like that with the current situation every day. Appreciate all you do brother!
