Before you drop a hateful comment down to judge me or this video, know it’s to help people understand the numbers behind both of these markets. I want us all to win, but to be better educated on what you guys are getting yourself into. 🔥 Like/ Comment/ Subscribe/ Share this video to & with the community 💪🏾💯🤬🔌
Well I think what went wrong with box truck is that so many people seen videos like this and run into the business. So over night you got an on flex of people got in taking any cheap rate and now here it goes again here come videos of hotshots and which what happened. Man
Great video very informative My Dude keep it up
Thank you for the video Mike, it was very helpful.
Thanks for watching 🔥
Mike another Great video my brother we really appreciate the wealth of information and knowledge that you continue to bring us man thank you!Stay safe out there!
Thanks for watching!🔥
Oh man! As an Independent Freight dispatcher, I used to pull my hair out Looking for loads for Box trucks lol. But as for Hotshots I LOVE MY HOT SHOT DRIVERS! Lol God bless and keep on Trucking!
Good stuff Fam quick question what setup are you running in terms of Dually and Trailer ?
Mr. Mike, your are a real American bad ass sir!!! Thank you for this video. You are helping in this world!
Great video homie 💯
Thanks for watching 🔥
This is why I've this channel.Great video, detailed info, helpful on real time and accommodations and REAL numbers based on 2022.We appreciate you taking your time out to make this video bro
Thank you for this information! I'm looking at driving a box truck Expediting cargo. OTR. I do plan on sleeping in the truck, with a bed in the back. I'm interested in a video of how u do ur setup for staying in OTR
Good stuff Mike on the analysis of the cost to run both, however, when it comes to rates and load availability the box truck has more loads than hotshot. In addition, hotshot rates range between .50/mi to $1.50 at best. As an owner who has operated both, I found it more difficult moving a hotshot than a box truck. You should make a video on how these brokers should stop robbing carriers with these ridiculous rates!!!
How long have you been booking loads $.50 -$1.50/ mile?
Lol who running at .50 to 1.50/mile????
Very good video. The part i disagree in your analysis is you factor the cost of hotel which depends to the driver. I usually get an hotel but some driver sleep in thier box truck particularly the international.. the Seats are ok just like sleeping in the back of your your pick up truck. You also should put a value … labor expenses for the work you put in tarpiing , strapping load
Very true, hotshots in my opinion will have better rates due to the variety of load types there are. We charge different due to what we’re hauling. No one is tarping a load for less than 2.25 / mile nowadays . And while you can sleep in the box truck, in comparison it’s not as comfortable as the crewcab hotshot sleeper setup in my opinion!🔥
Wassup Mike. What do you think about enclosed trailer car hauling or exotic car hauling?
It’s a very niched down sector that I’m not too familiar with, but I do believe they make money. But you have to have connections out the door. I don’t think you can just jump in & run spot freight.
@@entremike thanks. I honestly think I would enjoy having a box truck, but if hotshot makes more sense, I would be open to it. Looking forward to what you have to say.
@@toddalexander5517 Yessir! Hope you enjoy, it won’t be as violent as the thumbnail suggests😂
@@toddalexander5517 Still do alot of research on box trucks. There are many people who make alot of money in their local markets. Some get contracts with stores like Lowes to do appliance delivery. My nephew did it. ...facts! Some are home/ apt movers. And now I hear about Amazon Relay...some have much success with that! Research it well! Good luck!$$$👌
Is it anyway I can call to ask some questions
I heard DOT was about to do away with none CDL transport for Hotshots and require them to have CDL because of the combination and Electronic logs. Not for sure about it though
@Jeffrey Kemper ohh yes they can, it’s a law that you have to have electron laws now. Everyone has to drive over the road with a vehicle with a DOT number and hauling a certain amount of weight. Yes
@Jeffrey Kemper okay I didn’t know that 👍🏾
Can you do hotshot with a class b .?
Do you have to have a CDL for this?
Great video man! One thing I will say is a hotshot driver is those rates that you are saying are the averages are nothing close to what is being posted on the load boards. If you get a load paying $2 to $2.50 OTR for a hot shot you were lucky! You could find them but they are rare. Hell you know just as well as I do that they are posting loads for $.30 and on average they might be a dollar per load. When you post things like this it gets more people in the business and I feel like it could set them up for defeat once they get on the loadboards and see that the loads are not all at 2:50 to 3 dollars a mile. It’s not like that at all. I would think that those rates that they are posting are not for hot shots though my brother. Anyways, it’s kind of scary when you’re telling people that these kind of rates are there and they might assume they are there every day. Then next thing you know they are doing two or $3000 a week and shutting their business down. Love your videos though bro! Sorry if there are some misspellings as I am doing speak to text. Thanks again!
No you’re fine! I was comparing hotshot to flatbed , those are obviously not flatbed rates. I’m currently moving for loads over $2/mile myself. I’ll sit before I pick up a load paying $1/ mile knowing half of it is going to fuel . I’m just showing people that overall hotshot is still more profitable than boxtrucks. Thanks for your input, maybe I left that out!
I hear you brother, it just kind of makes it look like that is the current rates so it is a little misleading. You posted a couple of pictures that had your rate per mile on there and that is a rare event. Might be good to talk about the current situation with rates and why some of these rates are so low. I think a lot of newbies get into the business and then they see that freight is not 2+ dollars a mile every day and then they end up picking up $.50 a mile loads and it keeps the prices down for people like you and me. You have a lot of influence over people and although what you are saying is 100% correct, hotshots will make more money than box trucks. It’s just not like that with the current situation every day. Appreciate all you do brother!
It’s all about location and knowledge of the business, but to each it’s own. I’m successful with my Boxtrucks but I understand what you saying, 99% of people will fail in the box trucking industry.
Facts big dog , same for hotshot. Just keeping it real with the guys researching🔥💯
Just subscribe to your page..but dam 99percent? Why u say that and how long you been in business
For hotshot in this market, I believe on 30% will survive , simply because there are too many new cats that don’t know their worth & are running lanes down. Also they’ll find out driving, sleeping at rest areas, & being away from family isn’t as easy as it seems!
99%?........that can't be true
It’s exaggerated, maybe closer to 70% but to his defense the turnover rate in trucking overall is 80-90% in the first 3 years
Cant wait to hear this because idk them rates seem a little better then hotshot rite now
Oh this will be the video for you bro! I actually disagree given the fact I’m seeing the rates for both rn. (My fiancé dispatches both)
You ever run with Amazon for your box trucks? Would love to hear anything you know about that lane. Trying to decide if i wanna run a box truck until my authority gets over 6 momths and earn more capital instead of basically breaking the bank to start hotshot. Regardless love the videos bro
How much money in diesel u spend to load the tank?
Prob around $275-290 for a 50 gallon tank
@@entremike ok not too bad compared to trailers. Is a lot better. A lot of trailers are going out of business because of fuel.
Nothing new here . Your biggest problem mistake was the way that you Suddenly Flip, Flopped on your Former Friend, and,So,Called, Partner..Sure you are making more money going solo, but you should have known from the get go,that 3 owners CANT make money off of 1,26 foot box truck over an 11 hour period... That's all in the past though... Why are you even bringing up the Box Truck subject though!?!?!?
@@chloeconniecarlton lmao you still talking on something over a year ago. I speak on box trucks and hotshots due to my subscribers asking this question the most. Got any other questions about what I post on my channel? You’re the first negative comment, I guess that thumbnail rubbed you the wrong way . Speak on business instead of tryna make your own stories up 🤡
I’m stuck in between. I know you started with box truck. So if you was starting today you’d start off in a hot shot?
Depends on experience, hotshot would’ve been way more stress with the learning curve
How are the box truck reefer rates?
Probably pretty solid, but more maintenance involved
I know you know both lanes my guy. But the majority of box truck drivers aint thinking about hotshot trucking. Now I'm pretty sure you made this for people who are deciding which lane they wanna take. But, most people who drive box trucks do it because they don't need no cdls or no trailer and shit like that. The shit is easy. And if you go broke its because your truck wack or you don't know what you doing? We all got to be more strategic during these times. Shit aint hard, you just got to be able to think...
Yes this for people who are stuck in between! I respect your opinion & I totally agree🔥💯
Do you need a class A or B to be a hotshot?
@@johnnycash2860 class b if your GVWR is over 26k
@@johnnycash2860 or if you exceed 65 feet
@@entremike ok good cause I have a class B, at first I wanted to do box truck but I come to find out for a startup business I need to put 40% - 50% down payment so I'm like I'll just go with a dually and trailer
DM me fo some fanger nail clippers bro... 😁
Lmao you outta pocket for this 😭
Guys are sleeping in their box truck. Not me!
It’s tough
Everybody talking about box trucks and hot shots will eventually saturate the market and drop the rates but 🤷🏾♂️ get your utube money right.
If rates drop & people run on fuel money, they’ll go out of business that way. All rates are down, semis included
@@entremike now with all that said & in this state & time how do you feel about everything? Are the rates still decent?
People shouldn't say anything hateful brother your only try help people.
You’d be surprised bro, trust me. Apparently I’m a hater..
@@entremike People always talk sh** behind screen my only thing fuel price are nuts bro. I'm PA close 7 dollars. Well least your honest some people on here want to sell courses $900. $3600 dollars F that. lol
@@giorgiotribastone7070 I believe a course priced at $200-300 with exclusive info that everyone doesn’t know or have is valuable! It’s hard for me to drop another one. I want something way more valuable with a fair price.
@@entremike Why I like you brother your out help people not scam them.
Yessir, the plan isn’t to get rich quick off of scamming people, you won’t be able to sleep at night knowing you just 🧢 your way to some temporary 💰
I don't move for no less then 4 dollars. Amazon has been paying 5 too 20 dollars a mile. Dead head 20 miles. plus no eld because there's no need when we stay within that 150 mile radius. Your basing numbers off DAT. There's many other load boards out there. There's no way hotshot is making more then my current formula using amazon with a box truck.
What area are you from? If this is true you're killing it 👏
I’m from Milw Wisconsin and I mainly driving Amazon right now to
Get a semi
Dry vans not the move now in my opinion
@@entremike I'm talking about flatbed and paid off equipment
Hell yea that’s the wave
