Back in the 1980’s there was an article in Soldier of Fortune Magazine about the three knife system for combat. I’ve used that 3 knife philosophy ever since. It recommended: 1. A large knife such as a machete, or a knife with a blade of ten inches or more. 2. A medium size knife with a blade between 4 and six inches. 3. A folding knife with a serrated blade. Personally, I prefer a large blade, small blade, and either a saw or hatchet. My current favorite’s are TOPS Armageddon (my favorite knife) TOPS Brakimo (my edc) Silky Gomboy
Thanks for all your great videos and info. I'm looking forward to getting out into the bush and camping in Thailand. I'm still building my kit out and your advice is invaluable. I will be visiting your store. Thanks again!
I know, I’m too literal..lol. Technically, most SAK or Leatherman’s already have 2 blade’s and a saw given your philosophy that’s “3 knives”... I tend to think that saws, multi tools, etc. are separate categories and mainstays. Then I would pick a “3 knife” system like a folding knife, belt knife and big knife...I like how you modified the Recon Scout.
Im still to heavy. Pocket, izula, craftsman multi tool, stihl mini folding saw, and mini duku parang on a shoulder sling. Sometimes a red folding shovel pick combo.
Nice setup and info. I usually have dilemmas before going into the jungle, regarding my cutting tools, whether I’m using the 3 or 4 knife system, namely because I consider the blades in my SAK or Multitools🥲. What’s your opinion on such dilemma😂😂😂?
Give all your knives equal love. My main is my bk9 and folding saw, and the smaller belt knife gets rotated from the many great knives i have found, but i also always have a pocket knife as well that i always have regardless of where i am

@@vram288 Tops Brakimo. Thanks for watching!
I have a few Silky PocketBoy saws but prefer the Silky Gomboy Curve.

I would personally wear most of the tools on a belt and not pocket carry and have one other two in the bag.
Hello, may I ask how did you buy all those knives from southeast asia? Is this online or directly from a shop?
@@quinhon1989 Both online and physical shops. What country are you in?
@@urbanknifeguyI was wondering the same thing as the commenter above . I’m in the United States .
@@urbanknifeguy I'm in Vietnam. I just thought it would be cheaper to get these knives online from some nearby countries (lower shipping fee perhaps).
I would go for a parang, saw and pocket knife.
Thats me but really thinking of putting my izula back in pack
