Thanks to Rokform for the support today! glnk.io/3rj1/yammie-noob Code “YN25” is 25% off!
I am sorry papa yam, but your baby squid could not buy a rokform case, they dont ship to south africa
How about the new 2021 Suzuki HAYABUSA? Any videos coming out!??!
This drops 10 minutes after i buy gear. Of course.
“I swear I’ll get it next week” - Bikers most used quote
It's been 3 years
"Get it next year" - Everyone on the T700 wait list
How are they bikers if they don’t have a bike 😂😅
Been saying this for 7 years, finally bought an mt03 yesterday haha
@@Cisckokid1990 good man.
I was actually stopped by a cop one day and he wanted to tell me was to get better riding gear, he was a rider too and I was fairly new riding and he also gave me some tips and did not give me a speeding ticket 👍
"I always ride in my Alpinestars boots"
Except after melting them on a Sportster.
Pretty sure I started riding before Yammie Noob came into this world and "the kid" keeps putting out good material. Great info for new riders and excellent refresher for more seasoned riders. Good work as always.
New riding gear is an addiction! I tend to turn over all my gear every 4-5 years, always passing along my old stuff to newbies for free whenever I can
Well hello there Particle In The Wave 👋, Although I'm turning 61 in a few months I am a "Newbie" rider after spending a lifetime wanting a motorcycle. I raised 3 Sons as a single Father so money 💰 for a bike and gear was certainly out of the question, now that my boys are men and now self sufficient I was able to buy myself a sweet little 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 😁👍and by summers end I'm hoping to have decent gear although I do have a nice new Modular helmet I haven't yet acquired proper boots or gloves. Ride safe and keep the dirty side down , best regards.
That's what's up right there
Giving this a like for the screaming ground hog shot that almost made me spit out my coffee.
SAME
I just did my first 100 mile ride two days ago. The piece of gear I felt made my ride most pleasant was the $35 pinlock for my Shoei helmet. It made riding in humid, 45 degree, night time and windy weather kind of pleasant.
Doing my riders course next week and just bought my FZ07! A good year ahead! Thanks, Yammie for all the great videos. Keep them coming.
You should do a “so you want a” series. So you want a H2, busa, gixxer, you get the vibes I think it would be sweet to hear you talk about all the positive/negative things about all the types of motorcycles.
He already has...

Like i've said before humor fits everywhere, and that's what makes these videos so good, it's easier to learn when you're also having fun.
After wrecking an electric scooter with no protective gear, before learning to ride a motorcycle..I realized the vital importance of wearing safety gear and I’m thankful for that.
Also, I just bought my first set of gear and am already looking at other sets😂
I actually got one, been my dream for a while and me being on my dads encouraged me more. 1982 Honda CM450E needs some work but it runs and drives
Helmets look for ECE rating, Snell rating. Just a DOT rating is not enough
I strengthened my hands everyday for months when I leaned to ride. I could ride around town for hours using just one finger for front brake and one for the clutch. Best training I ever invested in. Much better control and feel of the bars and levers. I normally use two of course.
Great info, I was starting to feel guilty about to much gear in my closet and that new helmet I really didn’t need.
I'm glad foot injuries were mentioned in this video. I've seen tons of motorcycle videos of people riding with sandals or sneakers and calling it a day. I haven't started riding yet, but I've already bought all of my gear, and that includes some D1 Axial boots for my feet/ankles.
Will be a proud owner of a motorcycle in May when I turn 18 ☺️☺️☺️
Congrats!!!

Solid advice. Great work Yam
Perfect timing, im getting my 2005 Honda CBR 600 RR tomorrow noon and i will need to buy myself gear in the next weeks!
I'm glad I watched. I'm new and I was really unsure about helmets and boots. Thank You Yammie
Thx yammie I needed this
4:46 as for road riding it's perfectly safe to use 4 fingers to progressively brake. This is on my current liter bike which doesn't have ABS. From experience braking from about 60mph i have never locked up and washed out the front end.
Very informative as always
Great information thank you
Thanks for the video, i was about to order the Alpine star shoes, going for full boots :D
Thanks papa yam you reminded me to get a better back protector for my jacket.
00:32 the sound you make when you buy a jacket that is too baggy and get that sweet, sweet winter wind up your back for the first time.
Rokform be like: "Wait, you have no iPhone and no Samsung? Well, sucks to be you"
They don't even have a case for my Samsung lmao
@@babbittron If it isn't old, they are probably going to get a case for it
But I guess I won't get one for my Pixel 5
If it’s not a highly used phone there’s no reason to make a case for 100 people, millions have an iPhone/Galaxy.
yeaahh.. That's how it always goes, I didn't even bother checking, knew there'd only be options for iphones and like 3 androids
I have a rokform and love it
Got my CBT November last year and want to get the gear for when lockdown allows riding again! (UK)
MSF course scheduled, 6 weeks out 🤌🏾. Now I’m being a good yam and learning all the concepts and tips I can.
Did you pass?
Yeah good old yammie video like the good old days! love the memes!
That groundhog day joke and memes KILLED! Too funny 👍
Dude I love your content
Just got a ninja 250 last week and I’m ready to begin my bike growth journey
It's Groundhog Day and I got my new (to me) 2020 Black MT-03 and rode it home. lol. First road bike in 30 years.
Just bought a 2005 Gsxr 600 today. Super excited. 😊
MSF course schedules for the day after tomorrow and I'm so excited. They aren't providing practice helmets cuz covid. So I bought a cheapo fuel helmet from Walmart just to have something on my noggin. But I will definitely save to get one better. Thanks for the info!
Watching yammie vids at 3am PHST. Been supporting since below 100k
Financing done picking up my new bike Saturday
This video was awesome
Yammie : "You don't need your phone, you're driving to get away from everyday stuff."

There is a new rating that's supposedly more intense compared to the snell rating called the FIM homologation rating.
I've been planning on getting a motorcycle since like 2015. Has yet to happen hopefully next week ;)
I always look forward to the FACT :)
Hi dude I luv ur vids
Love the intro
Going to ride mine for the first time right now!
ECE 22.06 coming soon. Some manufacturers are already starting to position themselves e.g. ARAI so worth asking dealers when buying. It incorporates the types of tests MIPS do e.g. slip plane tests.
Perfect 👌 I fall in the category between “toddler on a tricycle and Rossi himself”
I haven’t even got my motorcycle license yet and I have two helmets, jackets, and two identical jeans. Street and Steel Mechanics pants are🐐
Got my first bike today, but no msf courses near me have anything open till September so I’m rebuilding the whole bike while I wait
Sorry to hear that man, I'm getting my bike this week also, I'm driving 150 miles to take my class, maybe if you enter in other zip codes may find an opening, GL.
Any chance of a roundup of good summer/spring weight jackets? Or advice for buying jackets for bigger guys?
I think we have fairly a lot of videos talking about gears we wear, how about bike accessories like engine cover, slider, etc etc? Would love to have a video to talk about what accessories are highly recommended to have for bike protection
Haha I’m so hyped I get mine tomorrow 350 Yamaha dual sport 95
Edits on this channel are just too hilarious 😂😂😂😂
I'm waiting for the weather to warm up so I can finish my A license examination process
just got a new bike ktm duke 125 and brand new gear cant whait for the snow to go away !!!!!
Hopefully I’ll be riding by the summer
Thanks, very good information before I buy my first bike! I’m thinking of a Royal Enfield 650 or if the dealer twists my arm a Moto Guzzi! Leaning to the Moto Guzzi! I’m a geezer and not looking for speed or to impress anyone!
Bought it all, second hand. Dirt cheap but quality. Boy it was meant to be. Indeed the gear collection seems to multiply on itself.
Had my first fall a couple weeks ago with zero gear and scraped left hand and forearm, they just finished healing
Scott is back!!! All hail the California Superbike School!!!
We have a secondhand outdoor store here that takes in motorcycle gear. I scored an Olympia jacket with a liner for $100 😁
Perfect right after i buy ankle height astars
NICE VIDEO COOL I LOVE IT GANTASTIC IS AWESOME I ENJOYED IT ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
i started paying more attention since he referenced by "soft mushy bits" as a kitten. gotta protect the kitten
I wish I was old enough to get a bike😂. 16 and I'm gonna look for a dirt bike so (hopefully) at the age of 24 I can get a good little bike and have some control. I cant stop thinking of the honda cb650r at the moment. Also, love the vids papa yam
Thanks for the tipps! got my shopping list updated now :D Btw what kind of bike is that at 3:08?
Should be the Yamaha Mt 03 from 2020.
Finally can say that i passed my exam, AND REALLY START LOOKING FOR ALL THIS!
Mesh jackets are so underrated, there is no reason not to wear a jacket in the hot westher when these are available some even come with a water proof liner so you have the best of both worlds
i almost bought a set of cheap "race" boots at the local cycle gear thinking they'll be good enough cuz its all about abrasion. Until they showed how they could be rolled over enough to touch the top of the boot to the sole. I am now much more secure in my TCX's
Finally got my first bike. i'm so happy
I’ve been watching for years and I never subscribed apparently today I changed that busa baby!!!
Bike delivery day tomorrow! My first bike Yamaha R3
I bought a dianese explorer 2 jacket for my first. Spent $800 on sale, RRP is $1200. It's an all season jacket so I felt justified spending the extra on it.
Id like to keep my phone camera in working order... So for motorcycle navigation i very much prefer a dedicated satnav.
Thanks for the recap of ryanf9’s video
If I just could walk into a gear store to get my starter gear 🥲
You don't have a cycle gear near you?
@@illuforce closed for months and some more to come, thanks to the Chinese Flue lock down. 😷😷😷😩
Y'all still locked down lol?
Not planning I got my bike this week!
I was riding pillion when my friend decided he was going to take a corner at 110mph, we ran out of road,
I was in a crouch position (sports bike) as I went forward the bike was bouncing back,
Leather motorcycle boots saved my feet, I still had tendons ripped and the buckles ripped off the boots but my feet stayed on. My friend was spat over the handlebars and cut his knee,
I was in hospital for a long time. Broken neck cracked sternum two broken ankles and everything hurt, I could still hobble about.
Will you bring the "So You Want" series back? If yes, will you make a "So You Want" video about MV Agusta, more specifically about the Dragster 800 RR?
9:00 I only have one jacket after a year or so do daily comunes. I did get a multi season jacket tho
I got my first bike yesterday!!! Yamaha R3
in singapore, if you pull the break lever with 2 fingers, you will never pass the motorcycle test. and you may be charged for not riding safely
Same in UK, got a big lecture about losing fingers on my training course.
I'm soon to be a noob this year but one thing I don't see alot of people talking about it is airbag vest? I know I'm getting one😁
Rokform unfortunately doesn’t have a case for just the standard iPhone 12, I was gonna get one and noticed they don’t have one I’m upset now cause this case and phone mount look really solid and I like how it clicks into place to be more secure
Another standard that is apparently coming up in racing is FIM.
Now when I did my Australian learner's test we were told to use 4 fingers on the brake lever not 2
In Greece they tell us to use 2, teacher told me 1 or 2 but not more, as yam explained, you don't want to have so much power in the brake lever that it blocks emediately the wheel
I took the MSF course last year and the instructors told us to use four fingers as well. My friend who has been riding for 30 years told me to start using two fingers to prevent locking up the front brake. I switched to two fingers and it felt odd at first but now it feels natural.
Why do the smart engineers at the manufacturers design the brake lever for four fingers when apparently two fingers is the right way to brake? That's because two fingers is NOT the right way to brake. It's a fine technique but in an emergency brake, you have greater fine motor control over four fingers which you can brake progressively with more finesse than two fingers. Practice your ebraking often.
Instant fail on the UK test for not having proper control.
If u guys see how we ride in the UK🤣🤣 full tracksuit and trainers and possibly a set of gloves🤣🤣
It’s funny how different they teach over there compared to here in north Europe. When you stop at lights you put the opposite foot down, a jacket should not have a back protector included because they think it’s safer to have a standalone protector here because it will stay in place. Then there’s the 4 finger braking.. here ABS is mandatory on new bikes since -09. So we’re encouraged to use 4 fingers.
Totally agree about the boots tho.
I'm looking into getting a bike to get me to work. Any recommendations for a multicompartment bike and or one that can handle off and on road long distance travels ( the last part being the most important). Also, could you recommend gear that can go over my office wear?
Thoughts on starting on a 08 gsxr 600? I’ve been riding dirt bikes for about 14 years and currently ride a rmz 450.
It really depends on what kind of person you are. This is one of the most frequent asked questions and to be honest an annoying one too, because everyone as different opinions. I'd say you'd be fine. Just keep in mind that the power of 4 cylinder engines are in the high rev ranges so as a beginner the power can be overwhelming. Just build up slowly cuz dirt bikes are completely different . Also do not let the reputation fool you. They are amazing machines! This may sound strange but I'd skip the 600 and go for the 750. More power low end which is basically more useable power in the streets. On the 600 you gotta squeeze it a bit more.
If you keep an eye on the speedo you should be fine. I drove one once and low in the rev range it's really smoth to ride but after about 9000 rpm the bike doesn't want to stop. I gave it a little in a 50 zone and on the top end of the 3rd gear i read 110 on the speedo. And all that in Switzerland, where they would've taken away the bike, my license and I'd have to hope that the ticket wouldn't get above CHF15'000. (yeah, the law sucks here)
it is the year i get on a motorcycle!
Wow there's lots of thing's that should be considered when riding.....but when I ride around my area that is at KG bongkol, pitas sabah that is at Malaysia I don't really use any protection..... I just ride normally for the thrill of it.....
Wow big yam with the LOTR reference. RIP Moria
I'd responsibly planned to go 250cc dual sport for my first bike and bought gear accordingly, but the motorcycle gods are tricky bastards and I've now been gifted an old scrambler-style Yamaha XS650 by my aging uncle. Maybe it's not the bike that I wanted to start on, and very likely it's not the bike that I SHOULD start on, but hey.... it's a free bike! Gotta buy a pair of street boots now and I'll try not to kill myself on the thing. Wish me luck.
Advanced rider watching video trying to figure out if he is still a beginner
Lmao, same here. He's still got good info even for experienced riders though, and some good humor too.
Apart from two finger braking. Terrible advice
He is
Genuinely disturbing... I just hope newbies listen to their instructors more than this video.
