- Penguin and then Italian mfs been running rampant in the Gotham streets and if you didn’t know better you would think there wasn’t a famous vigilante on duty every night.
Matt Reeves already said Batman wouldn’t be showing up so what exactly is the Dark Knight doin??
All penguin has to say is “watch out for that bat kid” or something like that and we’ll be happy 😂
@@D22_T literally, at least treat him like a threat
Batman letting the rats fight it out so he only has to deal with the king rat and not a bunch of minor ones
@masonmarcobello3164 that goes against Batmans entire history and lore though. Plus theres literally zero mention of Batman in the penguin at all...which means he's not even Batman at all, just an emo knockoff writing in his diary instead of fighting crime.
@thelastflop he could also be recovering from injuries sustained at the end. Or he could be caring for Alfred. The Penguin starts one week after the end of the first movie, so it's very plausible to find a reason why Batman wasn't seen in the show. Also, in the opening of The Barman, he literally says in the opening, "It's a big city, and I can't be everywhere at once."
It'd be out of character by that point. He wouldn't want anyone to die in any circumstance
That man got blasted by a shotgun to the chest, stabbed, concussed by a bomb, crashed into the street at 100MPH after a police station brawl, electrocuted and had to watch the baddest baddie he ever seen ride off without him.. The Penguin begins what, a day after the flood? Let Dude rest, sheesh. Let him get up, let him get up.
That excuse will only work so many times
@@DamXOien3902Excuse? Bruh he's been through a lot in less than a week, this isn't like calling in sick to skip work, Bruce was on a constant fight against Riddler that led to the city nearly being destroyed by flooding

@@the_shadow_realm5110 I'll cut the show some slack since this universe is grounded. After what Bruce went through it makes sense for his absence. This is also a batman slightly early in his career. I do agree that one mention of him would've been nice but still I'm glad they gave these characters room to shine.
Hes tryna cope w the Catwoman fumble

In this universe, Batman isn't all knowing and ever present. He could be having a whole situation of his own right now.
I think he’s either dealing with some other threat or dealing with the entire flood situation
Also he’s kinda still fresh
Yeah someone said the theory is batman is still super young rn so his detective skill is not so good just like how he interrogated the penguin in the movie still incapable of doing most actions as he is also depressed alot, after defeated the riddler he prolly super exhausted too

I think batman is in breaking point and due to the first movie where he became an inspiration for the riddler's violent nature and he probably considered Alfred's advice about his legacy so he is focusing in his bruce wayne persona realizing that both batman and bruce wayne is needed.
The Court of Owls could be waterboarding him right now we really have no idea
@@vaporfrog2714 😭😭
Batman giving everything he has for the city just to be called a bum on RUclips 😢
My theory is Batman is investigating the Court of Owls the powerful people that run Gotham behind the scene
There needs to be way more paranoia from the criminals, especially at night.
People looking up at rooftops before running to get into their cars etc.
Batman is not a cop on the organized crime or narcotics beat. Batman is a vigilante who gets involved when innocent people are being threatened by criminals. Who are the innocents being threatened by criminals in "The Penguin"? Why would Batman care about a mob war where nearly all the victims are criminals? The only civilian victim so far is Calvin and how would Batman even know about that when Calvin's own friends (including Vic) don't know about it?
Did Batman lift a finger to take down the Falcone's Drops operation during "The Batman"? No. And did fans cry about it? No.And if Batman didn't care about Drops, why would he care about Bliss.
@@ForeverBrooklynNYC you make fair points
@@ForeverBrooklynNYC The Penguin should have PTSD after what happened to him in The Batman. The epic car chase, seeing Batman beat up all his goons (and him) in the Iceberg lounge, being interrogated on a rooftop by Batman and Gordon etc.
I’d like to see the Penguin be more edgy at night, and even reference “The Bat”.
Have him “run” to get into his car at night as he looks up at the rooftops and into dark alleyways, terrified on what may be waiting for him.
Batman has had NO effect on Gotham’s underworld in The Penguin. Maybe because he hasn’t been around for long enough.
The reason is likely budgetary, and to keep the focus on Penguin.
It would be great if we see the Bat Signal in the final episode though.
@@ForeverBrooklynNYC Well is still think he’d care but I understand why he isn’t getting involved
Bruhh… it was mostly daytime..
He’s out filming Batman 2
Batman isn’t the main character considering the penguin has a show.
I'm more confused as to why he isn't even coming up in discussions I remember one of the showrunner's saying "he isn't even thinking of The Batman" in regards to Oz. You'd think he'd at least come up in passing. Like Vic asking Oz if he ever saw The Batman. Is he real etc. Even a scene of Oz telling his "version" of his run in with Batman where(in typical Oz fashion) he warps the story and tells half truths to make himself look good. The opening of The Batman showed that he already had criminals spooked and scared s**tless of the dark, so all these criminals just going about doing crimes without a care in the world now feels odd. I get that they want the show to stand on it's own, but the way they're handling it makes it seem like Batman doesn't even exist. Like the show is set while Bruce was still training or something.
All criminals are not the same. Think about the criminals Batman was targeting in the beginning of thre movie and who their victims are and who Oz's victims have been so far. Notice any differences?
Vic asking Oz about Batman would be sick
@@ForeverBrooklynNYCIt’s not just Oz.
What about Sofia. I’m sure Sofia heard in Arkham, that a masked vigilante has emerged in Gotham, fighting crime. Especially people like her own family, who are mobsters.
In fact, Batman played a big role in the capture, and subsequent killing of her own dad. You’d think she’d mention Batman at some point.
Also, Sofia made herself head of the (new) family, and is now overseeing mob activities. Is she not aware that puts her directly on the radar of Batman?
During all the moments of the Carmine family having discussions in the series, not one person mentioned, “What are we going to do about Batman?!?”
I find that…head scratching.
Following the ending of the first film he’s probably trying to help the city through Bruce Wayne
The crime war is expected but he’s trying to make sure normal people are safe first before cleaning up the streets
Alfred almost died...
So I think Bruce is taking some time off to really reflect on if the Batman is worth the risk of losing it all because of it...
At the end of the movie he was talking about how he had to be better for the city. This Batman trained but not as intensively as Batman usually does, I’m sure now he’s been away trying to build himself up to be a better force for the city.
Matt Reeves actually confirmed why we don’t/won’t see Batman in the Penguin. What he said was is that Gotham is a big city and Batman can’t be everywhere at once, and that Oz isn’t really on his radar and he doesn’t seem him as much of a threat. Honestly this makes alot of sense since it’s still Batman in the early days of his career and in the Penguin we see Oz rising up the ladder and building his criminal empire cause let’s face it Oz in The Batman wouldn’t be as big of a threat to Batman so I feel once the show ends we’ll see Oz and his higher threat level to be on Batman’s radar during The Batman 2
He's at home. Washing his tights.
Warner doesn't have the rights to a live action TV Batman, that's why there are all these Gotham and Pennyworth and Penguin shows instead of a straight up Batman show my guy.
In my head-canon, after Batman at the end of the movie began to reconsider his approach as vengeance/hope maybe he decided to give up the cowl for a short time or just take a break (a bit like in the amazing spider man 2 when peter doesn't show up for a good while at the end) and something in the second movie will bring him back. Also, perhaps Oz doesn't like to talk about the Bat seeing as every time they interacted he got his a** handed to him in one way or another, not the kind of humiliation a mobster wants to remember lol.
Plot Twist, he’s taking care of a little boy and trying to be a good dad without being a wet cat all the time
lol imagine in the last scene of the finale, he just sumo slams penguin into a table
i feel like them telling people batman would appear would have everyone anticipating him, so them saying he wont appear and then we see him in the finale would feel much more rewarding and surprising.
He's resting. He just dealt with Riddler and the flooding of the city, probably making some tech improvements in the meantime, likely being more public as Bruce too to fund efforts to aid the city. Essentially, he's just too preoccupied, and when he's not working he's having some much deserved rest
Leaves room for a bit a of a tie in and showing progression on the side of Bruce/batman evolving into a better detective and overall defender of Gotham getting away from the idea of vengeance and closer to justice
I like how in this universe Batman is so useless they have to call him The Batman.
The riddler took down the biggest crime boss in the city using Batman. I feel like they should at least mention that once during the show. Batman's been fighting crime for a year, but moving against the crime family in the last movie should've been some sort of wake up call. He literally beat the whole security in the club just to talk to the penguin and beat the goons who were going to assassinate the newly elected mayor. Where is the slight belief that he'd go after them in some way. He literally operates outside of the law, they have to believe that he'd be capable of shutting down their drops op once he figured out where it was. That could've been mentioned during that one scene with penguin in episode 2.
He’s right there should be some type of Batman appearance. Something 🤷🏻♂️hanging on a roof in the background . Robert would be down for a quick scene or some type of cameo as Bruce or Batman. Not even a mention.
Why would he care bout such minimal bs? That explosion for sure gonna catch his eyes though
This is Batman's year 1...he still isnt everywhere and watching all corner's of gotham, he doesnt even have all his tech yet. Plus the man was heavily injured and all these is happening immediately the movie ends
Go watch The Batman ending he literally said rn he is just a man he working on becoming something MORE just like penguin isn’t really the penguin yet. Also he realized at the end he need to do more as Bruce Wayne considering half the city is a mess which is something he can’t fix as Batman rn
Exactly. Literally just some Arkham enemy dialogue would make more sense than them not worried in the slightest. A goon asking “what if the bat shows up?” Is all the show would need to do.
I think end of the movie kinda explains this. In the climax we can see him accepting the idea that batman not just a hand of justice, but a symbol of hope. The contrast between the movie's introduction scene where he is beating up the boys, and the final climax where he leads the isolated people to rescue symbolizes this.
TLDR: DC doesn't have the rights to Batman on a TV show. Hints of him, yes. But a full on Batman, no.
I’m predicting they’ll have a silhouette of him fighting some crooks or something in the end of the season, maybe he saves Sofia at the end
Probably laying low after he destroyed his body lol
The fact he isn’t remotely mentioned in the series has surprised me.
Batman played a huge role in Sofia’s dad getting arrested, and subsequently shot.
Surprised Sofia never made a comment on a masked vigilante fighting crime (like her mob family) in Gotham.
Surprised even Oz hasn’t mentioned him either. In The Batman, Oz has two serious run ins with Bruce, one of which was a firestorm of car crashes and explosions.
You’d think Oz would be on very high alert throughout the series, and mention at some point he doesn’t want Batman to come after him again.
‘He’s at home washing his tights!”
I think the show runners had a rule they weren’t allowed to mention or show Batman because that would take focus away from everyone else. It lessens Sofia as a threat to the Penguin if he’s like “damn she ain’t nothing to that bat guy I was tangling with last week” every 5 minutes.
I hope we don't see Batman in the last episode
It’s not jus Batman that’s a ghost
Even Gordon should of had some type of scenes by now too
The Truth :
Warner Brothers DO NOT want batman to appear on any TV shows but exclusively for movies
Completely agree you also don’t want him to then carry the show and steal the spotlight like what happened with din djarin ( the mandalorian ) in the the book of boba fett.
He's at home....washing his tights!
BEST! 🤡
You are right and its even more weird cause the Penguin knows Batman and he captured him in the Batman movie yet he never says a thing about Batman in the show lmao
i wouldnt be suprised if he doesnt trust himself with the responsibility anymore after overlooking and missing the riddler's plot; and maybe he really wants to get away from the vengeance batman persona so he's fully locked in on bruce - not to mention another commenter saying the floods probably fucked up his batcave/tunnel which is a good point too
They should've atleast shown his batsignal, or mention something on the news. Or atleast shown Riddler or Gordon. Also why is the city so clean, it should've been more flooded. And didn't Bruce say martial law is in effect? Where's the military? Show is good but it isn't following the essence of the movie
Basically because they are treating this series as a Soprano series of the DC instead of a universe thing on where it all branches together.
At least MCU projects dealt with it some cameos before, I think Penguin should Aknowledged some of the traits estabilished in this universe from the previous project before.
He was mentioned on the news in episode 1
@@Malaca863that doesn’t mean anything, he should appear in the midddle and towards the end of the

I didn't notice the martial law plot hole.
Matt Reeves and his team did say that most of the scenes are shot in the morning and afternoon because Penguin and the rest legit treat Batman as a threat. Same logic and reason as to how Vulture and his crew avoided the Avengers’ radar for many years.
My boy took a shotgun blast to the chest, he is SICK 😂
My theory is they're taking a page out of no mans land with this one. In that comic bruce wayne is in Washington lobbying for government aid to gotham, hence batman was missing in that storyline.
I subscribe to the Bruce crying over Selina theory. :)

all the questions about batman will lead this show the same path as game of thrones when the writers start to cave and give people who consider ' batman ' the ' main character ' in a story about the ' penguin ' called ' the penguin ' and ruin the ' penguin ' show to please the masses.
yeah a cameo would be great but it will be a bad idea when you realize that no cameo would be enough and there should be more involvement and then we won't be living this story from the penguin's perspective but from Gotham's greatest detective the batman to lead us through clues and so on.
let the penguin show be the penguin show...maybe show batman taking a dumb in a dark alley as the penguin drives by and neither notices the other...but top down angle at the superman in the sky with his augmented sight looking down and cut to the dumb that looks like the batman logo then it gets fried...would be a great foreshadowing for ' THE ' batman vs ' THE ' superman round II now on Netflix and Dana White presenting it with guests like daniel Gyllenhaal, McGregor and habib.
I thought he was hanging back while they all kill each other.
@@tillthewheels I doubt it, Batman has a savior complex even for criminals, he doesn’t like anybody killing anybody

Batman not being mentioned at all by the people also seems a little bit unrealistic. It’s like they forgot who the Batman is.
Im wondering why the joker is already in arkham. What did he do before batman was there? Normally joker only exists because of batman.
Matt reeves has said that this joker actually was born disfigured which is kind of disappointing because it kind of ruins the whole one bad day thing which gets rid of the duality between him and batman. Also the deleted scene with batman and joker isn't canon but the part where joker mentions how batman put him in arkham a year ago could still be canon.
@@Shalashaska-x5xDoesn’t ruin anything lol and the duality between those two are as clear as day with how joker understands Batman and their interaction with each other. And joker getting put in Arkham by Batman is definitely canon lol.
It would be cool if Batman actually does make an appearance....but we don't know it's him. With Matt Reeves finally letting us see the detective side of Batman on the big screen, this would be a great opportunity to see Batman's "Matches Malone" persona. Batman going undercover wearing disguises was some of the most compelling moments of Batman TAS. Imagine Oz's crew bring in a guy they think works for(or has information on) Sophia. They beat him up and interrogate him, then Oz has them take the guy's wallet and we see "Matches Malone" on his ID, to which Oz jokes "hey hey, fellas! Take it easy...leave em alone(Malone) huh hahahaha", "hey Matches....got a light 😂". Then after Oz reveals some info in passing during a conversation, the lights cut out, they scramble to get them back on and see all of Oz's guys are knocked out and Matches is gone.
He is a ninja and is in the shadows. Just because we don't see him doesn't mean he doesn't see what's going on. Batman is tactical and in his second year, learning his vengeance isn't going to heal the city. I think he is in a Prep time phase and when Batman 2 comes we will see what he has been busy with. Penguin and the mob families of Gotham are a piece of the infamous bat-Gallery, he has plenty of other enemies that could be keeping him busy over the time that has passed in the show so far.
didnt you watch the movie? he's obviously journaling in his cave working on his emo hair 😂
Well then again it is taking place between like a span of 2 weeks in the show too even tho it’s kinda not the best excuse
They brought him on Suicide Squad , his script was ass .. he looked ridiculous
itd be cool if bruce has a cameo
He’s fs honing in his Bruce Wayne and rebuilding the city
Or maybe DC doesn't hold the tv rights of batman
maybe he met Dick Grayson and making him Robin
too early
Most likely won’t have a robin seeing as that Gunns Batman is having one
Kinda wished domeone mentioned Bruce's name once. Just give ud a hint on what bruce wayne is doing. Is he doing snything at all to help the city? Like wut happening
I agree he should of been mentioned but out of sight criminals should be aware always looking over there shoulder every time OZ gave them a job
He has a crush on sofia
My problem isn’t that Batman isn’t shown physically, my problem is that there’s no mention of him or even Bruce. Not even a mention in the papers or from the thugs being worried that he may come kick their asses, we got 1 mention of riddler but not Batman saving the mayor candidate. Not even a mention of Bruce or how he came 2 speak 2 Falcone before he died. It’s like Batman/Bruce doesn’t exist and everybody’s just going about their lives like he wasn’t terrorizing criminals for 2 years.

He had been Batman for two years before running into Penguin and Falcone...it's more realistic. You could easily fight crime in a city for two years and not run into every mobster or criminal.
Gotham is more like a real city in this universe. All kinds of things going on and one man can't be on top of all of them.
Batman would totally be involved already but let's make excuses for the show.
It’d be dope if he was off getting trained by raja ghoul. But yeah they should’ve at least mentioned him a hand full of times throughout the szn

Batman not showing up during the penguin conflict is fine. What I don’t like is that no one mentions him at all! You don’t ever see the bat signal in the sky. You don’t hear anything on the news about him. Only in the first episode they said “you can see the Batman vigilant helping Evacuate people from the Gotham square garden roof”. Show me a bat signal in the sky so we know that him and Gordon are still doing their thing. We have had scenes where mobsters are sitting at tables discussing business and street beef and not once does anyone mention the Batman vigilante. With all that penguin and Sofia are dealing with, not once have they mentioned needing to be careful with the Batman vigilante out and about. This show is going out of its way to act like Batman doesn’t exist at all in this city. Batman doesn’t need to be on the show physically but allowing this show to not mention him at all, not show a bat signal in the skyline and not having anyone of these scumbag criminals we have watched for six episodes say anything about the Batman is dumb af. Gotham is Batman’s city more than anyone’s. I don’t care if he is only In his second year. All the quick news clips that they show, all of the skyline shots, all of the villains planning and scheming together and NEVER in any of those scenarios have they not mentioned or alluded to the Batman in this world if fucked up. Of course the normies won’t care about this but the fans see it. It’s the only REAL flaw of the show. You can’t even have the bat signal in the skyline and maybe give our on screen characters a little dialogue about it so we can see how the city feels about Batman’s presence? This show might as well be take place in Bludhaven then.
