Arthronius this was back when people viewed video games as an opportunity medium. Where innovation was the prime motivator, to create the best product to achieve success. Compared to now, where many companies only see video games as an opportunity to put as little effort into a product for a good chunk of money. I agree, we will never see this kind of product again.

Pyramid Head is the manifestation of James's desire to be punished, hence why he kills Maria twice in front of him to let him know she is an illusion, something you shouldn't believe, and that he needs to face the truth instead of hiding behind Maria.

The lore of SH2 is incredible. When I was young I didn't really understand what was really there and I thought that this was just a scary game. As I got older and began to understand how deep this game is it was mind blowing. Everything from monsters, item placement, writing on the wall, literally everything has some sort of plot revalance or it's own story. I hope we are just in a "dark ages" of video games now and some day we can go back to the deep and rich adventures of this era.

I refused to believe that ‘Theme of Laura’ was created in 3 days. If someone told me Akira Yamaoka spent a year just to create an intro, I would believe them wholeheartedly. The soundtrack is just immaculate, and no game’s main theme has ever made me want to rush into the playing the game like SH2, except for “You’re not here” in SH3.

I've always liked the "Seven Deadly Sins" theory.
Silent Hill veterans know that the main story of the series started when Alyssa Gillespie's soul was split into two - the burned living corpse in the Alchemilla Basement and the happy little girl, Cheryl, adopted by Harry Mason.
The main story ended when Heather of Silent Hill 3 learned that she was the baby that Alyssa created in the good ending of SH1 to replace Harry's lost daughter, Cheryl. That baby had Alyssa's whole soul intact - plus Samael's soul, which survived Harry's attack.
There was a sixteen year gap between these two events when baby Heather was growing up. During that gap in time Samael was incubating within Heather. His gradually growing powers were still tied to the ritual magic of the city of the Silent Hill, transforming it into a microcosm of evil. That microcosm drew in people suffering from evil thoughts and deeds. Heather's victory at the end of SH3 ended the evil magic of Samael, closing the story and freeing the city once and for all.
Each of the other Silent Hills outside of SH1 and SH3 take place during that sixteen year period. The characters we play as are each unfortunate people suffering from one of the Seven Deadly Sins; Greed, Gluttony, Lust, Wrath, Sloth, Pride, or Envy. The monsters in Silent Hill change their forms based on the sin the hero is suffering from.
James suffered from Lust. He killed his wife because he couldn't sleep with her while she was sick. That's why the nurses in SH2 were busty compared to the hunched over nurses from SH1, they were taking a Lust-form.

I don’t really like it when people try to make the games follow a overall plot line. It’s like Final Fantasy. Different characters with different stories, with just a few connecting elements. In my opinion, there is no overarching plot

Hello everyone I am asking that all Silent Hill games, animated series, guide books, to come again because I would like to see it return. also guide books can be of help with certain things. oh I love Silent Hill since the first game I played on my game system. I'm also asking other fans to join me in this petition. I feel it needs to come back. the characters storyline everything about Silent Hill Is good. do you know that a new Silwnt Hill was mentioned? this would be a different new version having the game player walk through this house. but not seen having the player feel as if being in that world the town itself I wanted it to happen. we found out that Alessa was the beginning of it all. Pyramid Head is like this collector of souls. I really wanted to see Maria end up with James and Laura. ah now I see where is more to this story than we know but didn't find out about Angela's story. I believe not every monster is a manifestation of others. "in my restless dreams I see these games Silent Hill. you promised me that you would play them with me but you never did. we I'm alone here now waiting for you."

    • @patrickwentzell4638
      @patrickwentzell4638 4 года назад

If Maria was a real person then possibly she had been just another ghost in the town. Maria somehow died yet wanted to find someone to be with. I don't believe the town is bad just has that darkness surrounding it. that everyone finds out about sooner or later. and I think Laura got away she just left the town. no monsters got her or came after her not even the Pyramid Head was hunting for her. some how I think power over death and other things can be granted. the story line in number three is different from the movie version. I think that was a smart decision that worked perfectly. there is always a chance to make it out of that town alive. It is a peaceful town but you wouldnt want to live there.

I didn't like Eddie because he killed a dog. You don't take your frustrations out on innocent beings, esp animals. So he deserved to be in SH. I thought Angela didn't tho. You can't abuse your own child like that & not expect her to defend herself. Her abusive dad & brother got what they deserved. She didn't deserve to be in SH tho, IMO

I agree with you 100%, but , if you kill someone, you still sin, even if they deserve to die, also SH2 was about guilt too, so Angela was there bcuz of that

It's not murder that draws people in, it's guilt. And obviously Angela feels guilt for killing members of her own family. Even if they diserve it.

Nevertheless, this will always happen, since feelings make people do horrible things. Not defending Eddie, but it's just how the human being is created. People will never change, anyone can be pushed in the end

@@jmbeam almost accurate, it not the sinning that causes SH to call you, it's the guilt and "darkness" you feel about that sin. Alessa is also a great example of that as she didn't sin or murdered anyone before SH took over of her. One of the reasons I love this games so much is how truely cruel and unfair SH is, its purpose is to exploit you if it can, not to create justice. and just like in real life it's more likely that the victim will suffer more guilt than the perpetrator like Angela and Alessa.

The absolute best, and I do mean BEST, tribute to Silent Hill 2 on RUclips. No other video I've ever seen here encompasses why this game is not just a game, but an undeniable work of art that should be experienced by gamers and non-gamers alike. The only thing stopping this vid from being near-perfection would be the creators pronunciation of words and grammatical errors, something that he obviously can't really help.
Thank you for this. For the entirety of the video, I felt like I was re-experiencing this game for the first time, something even outright replaying the game hasn't managed to instill in me in a long time.
