I was there at this FABULOUS concert (Cirque Royal). Audience was standing and shouting after the second encore although light were on for over 10 minutes! And the band came back for the third one: Let's Twist again. After that, the same reaction of the kids. After 15 minutes, Patti showed up alone telling us that the band was exhausted and couldn't play more. She still remember this concert. She calls us "the crazy guys from Brussels). Maybe my best concert souvenir...
What a remarkably and courageously generous and sensitive woman! Patti has the ability to take that extra step at the risk of totally blowing her act and career, while also sensing where her people are physically and spiritually. There is certainty about her. She seems to know what we are lacking more than we probably can know ourselves or put into words. For her fans, it goes without saying. I love her guts!
PATTI has the spirit of joan of ARC@/ The tenacity of GENGHIS KHAN/And the spiritual awakening of the delilama in the hills of Tibet!!!!!!! Marvellous melancholy malevolent creature of the universe she IS!!!!!!!💥👌🏿💨🏝👍🏾💣🌈🌈🌈
PATTI SMITH IS A BEAUTIFUL BRILLIANT GUARDIAN OF THE GALAXY!!!!!! LIVING BOMBURST OF A LEGENDARY BOMASTIC BEATING SOUL!!!!!! HIPPY/ PUNK =POET,ES GENIUS @@@
" We met in 1971 after my first poetry performance, Lenny accompanying me on electric guitar. Sandy Perlman was sitting cross-legged on the floor ,dressed in leather , Jim Morrison style. After the performance , he told me I should front a rock n roll band but I just laughed and told him I already had a good job working in a bookstore." Patti Smith Year Of The Monkey (Bloomsbury 2019)
Patti Smith. Who else was so girly and grown up, so fragile and tough, so male and fe-male, so streetwise and innocent, so solitary and yet so sought after
Patti always exudes confidence and freedom, pure raw feelings. I discovered her when I was 16 from a mixed tape I found and took me years to put a name to the voice - pre internet times… She sits crossed legged at the base of my rebellion ✊🏽
"Everything spurts!" So sedate when she talks. Then the music starts and Patti lifts off. The dancing approaches pure unfettered insanity. See for yourself: (9:44)
I absolutely loved her first 4 albums for many many years in my young days. Hearing her today makes me think she was a bit spaced off, lots of drugs, some poetry and lots of self confidence. Not bad, but it has aged a bit. But without a doubt she is a great female voice of rock music.
The album 'Horses' still does it for me - the improvisation bits that can sometimes be uncomfortable were well under John Cale's control. But an artist has to take big risks - eg of complete embarrassment - to get to that creative, inspirational place. She's a great voice of rock music - who is also a female.
I disagree with you! Patti has become much more focused over the years and work has matured like fine wine ! I loved Patti in her early days , and I love her work even more now that I have matured as well
Well..... She's about Five Foot Four. She looks so good. She comes around here about midnight. She makes me feel so good. She comes walking down my street. She comes to my house. She knocks on my door. Then she comes in my room. And she makes me feel alright. Ding dong ding dong. Her name is G-L-O-R-I-A. I wanna shout it every night. Baby Baby Baby. Makes me feel so good. Jesus died for somebody's sins but not mine..... The song is from a Van Morrison b-side, nothing about age there. Patti wonderfully and lustfully expresses and interprets the lyrics. What makes your mind enquire about Gloria's age when no-one else is??
I love Patti!

Yes, except this was real underground music in 1976! She didn't get on the radio until Springsteen gave her a song.
