You know a man is good when they make things look easy when it isn't. Chris knows his stuff. It is fun watching you guys.
I can tell that hiring Chris has been a lifesaver for you. Plus with his knowledge, he can give you some pointers as well.
So basically your saying cause of the blitz is the reason you did a good check on your equipment. The stuff you found you should have already found on a pre or post trip before now.
Well it was the post trip. Post (after) the last trip. (That's why we did it.)...
I believe you made the right decision in hiring Chris Steve.. he seems to fit right in, his professionalism and his knowledge . what a great asset to your team Steve. orwell, keep rolling that coal, I always enjoy watching you doing that!!
Great video Steve nice to see your trailer getting fixed and inspected and Orwell also. Glad to see you and Chris helping out scraper Mike with his rear lift gate for his truck. Looking forward to your next video stay safe Steve and Chris.
If possible it would be wise to weld in some new steel where those rust holes are. Some of those DOT tyrants see rust and just keep digging so they can make up a reason to deadline it.
yea i was thinking the same. if you really want to be thorough sand blast it to see all the spots, then build it back up with more reinforcement if possible, then paint it like orwell blue.
Isn't the fact that because of DOT Blitz Week Steve decided to stay off the road and inspect his own vehicle(s) and therefore he found two serious problems on his trailer proof that the DOJ is actually doing good work? I mean: imagine that cracked brake shoe locking up the wheel at highway speed, that would be an "interesting" situation to be in, now wouldn't it? You can criticize the way some DOJ inspectors do their job, but random inspections often find problems the driver/owner isn't even aware of. I'd say that's a good thing.
I agree, plus flap hanger and flap on Orwell. They have a hay day when they see holes and rust. I'm thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea to switch out at least the rear outer rims for aluminum rims and clean up the inner steel rim and studs, repaint them and that will take care of rust streaks for awhile.
I hope you guys get time to replace that rotten diamond plate on the trailer. DOT love's digging around stuff like that, your new guy Is fantastic.
As Steve commented above it's not structural or required so there's no need to fix.
@@SemperFortner But apperances do count-both on the road/and to customers--just saying.
He is already proving his value to your shop, Steve, staying one step ahead of those DOT enforcers
wold it not to be a good time to replace the rusted out checker plate steel on both sides of the rear of the step deck don't give the D.O.T a reason to dig farther
No. Right now that thin sheet metal is not structural or required
Good call on the wheel seal and brake pads. Thumbs up 👍
Chris is one hard workin guy for sure...He could start his own channel just doing his thing...I love watching that kind of thing as well as the trucking videos. He seems to really know his way around everything here.
Hey Chris, do Steve a favor and paint the drivers side front dual wheel, Steve's got a love of rust
I’ve been commenting that for awhile lol
we all have
New steel rims at Pete in De Pere are a 100$ a corner , no brainer
@@texclydes Hey, white liberal women will call you " mean " ...... LOL
Any talk about that dual needing painting sends Steve off the deep end!
Almost as bad as that argument he had with Janet the truckstop manager; it gets him percolating 😅😂
Chris is a god-send. I am happy its working out.
I hope Chris is as good as he says he is, I have seen so many of these dudes that are all hat and no cattle.
😂😂😂. What the hell? Of course he is a good dude, I can tell. He’s ready to jump on for any task he’s assigned to. Nice to see you guys working together in the shop. Keep up the good work and keep that truck well inspected and be ready for those DOT enforcers and continue with your trip with a clean inspection report. Good luck guys and stay safe.
Great job fixing the truck and trailer, getter her ready for the big haul. Have a good one see ya next time see ya bye. PS i got a 3406B. 1989 year needs checked out see what its needing so I fix it 1994 Pete cabover 359. Let me know if anybody wants to work on it let me know have a nice one see ya later see ya bye.
Always protect your eyes. What do you do that you don't use your eyes for other than to sleep.
I am 75, and worked when less than half this age, for two different parts stores. I have turned THOUSANDS of drums and rotors, mostly for cars and light trucks, but have also turned my share of tractor/ trailer drums. I have also had the (dis) pleasure of relining/ riveting trailer shoes. The 2nd store I worked had a big triangular piece of spring brake can stuck in the wood frame of the door up the ramp to the "cable room" because someone was using the press to disassemble a can, and it came apart. Long before I got there. It was left there as a reminder. At the first store we had an old Van Norman drum lathe and riveting machine, and similar riveting machine at second store. They bought a new Ammco lathe.
Chris has proved his worth already.
Im doing a wheel seal tomorrow and a a tire swap. Yay. Chris definitely knows his stuff!
Looks like you and Chris work great. You guys are getting things checked off the to do list.
I used to stay home during this crap. Take a vacation.
40 years of memories, retired in Jan this year from 40 years of heavy transport maintenance. I hate hub seals.
He already has proven he is a valuable asset. Steve and Chris keep up the great work
Hey Steve! Gotta tell ya, just saw you and Orwell on I-68, what a thrill! You were on the downhill side of Coopers Rock heading East. Look'n good! Safe travels! BTW, Chris is a great addition to the FSC Trucking channel!
Cue ball you're the birdman from Freedom Wisconsin. Stay safe Steve and Chris.
Keep up with the truck
"One broken bolt away..." That happened to me today, while changing sparkplugs on my son's car. I snapped off a coil pack mounting screw being an idiot and we had to change plans to extract the remains of the bolt. We got Very lucky and a ease-out actually grabbed it and removed it. BUT, we ended up taking two hours longer to replace the plugs.
Facts.
Looks like a lot of fun now that there is help
I grease pack all those wheel bearings and put the old style steel caps on. Lots less problems. If you really like oil filled, there is a Lubriplate product called MAG-00 that you can put in and it will never leak. But you can't mix it with other oils. Not to mention it's kinda pricey. It's really for machinery in ultra harsh conditions.
When's the big Safety Week for all these cargo ships and large boats that keep hitting massive land structures🤔🤔
A great channel, enjoy your work, but why make yourself a target with the rust on the trailer guards?
Hey Steve! Stay Safe Out There, And May All Go Well For You & Chris!
Steve glad to see ur not escorting a oversize load
If you're gonna fix it.. then fix it right.❤❤❤
LoL he finished up faster than you get there to video ? Reassembly
Great video steve .... N Chris
Guys, where's the FSC trucking work coveralls. 🤔
When you disconnected from the trailer after backing it in the shop it looked like the rgn joint and locking system has a lot of play in it.
Yup. That's how it works 🤦
@@fsctrucking Is it due to worn parts or is that how it's manufactured?
@@ChrisHarding-lk3jj the amount of separation is determined by the position of the brackets connecting the gooseneck to the trailer. This is so you can adjust the ride hieght.
Ww always maintain the truck's and trailer's every 3-6 month's depending on driving time. We don't use other companies trailer's anymore due to them not maintaining them (Tires and Brakes) a driver who was hauling a Swift Trailer stated that the brakes was bad. He went to a shop and there the mechanic said that the trailer has no brakes. I told them to let the driver take the trailer to a location and then I had another driver with one of our trailers to transfer the load into that trailer. It was all light stuff. Swift ended up paying us for $$$$$ and the charge of sending another driver with our trailer. The highway patrol was like hell no. They took possession of Swift's trailer and we discontinued load's for them using there trailer's. Fixing to head out to the shop and get a trailer to it's location and get it unloaded. Driver was wanting to spend the weekend with his wife and kid's. Told him I will take it and he will still be paid for the load. It doesn't bother me doing that. He's been working with us for year's.
Actually Chris and I ha e been talking about this. Not just now, but for future equipment.
@@fsctrucking Ok cool that's good. We will still be fetching other trailer's for companies that pays trucking companies to haul there load's for them. In a few week's we will be sending driver's to Fairbanks Alaska to haul load's up there. They will have load's coming back that dispatcher's are going to be finding. Cause they don't like to deadhead back hauling nothing. And State Troopers are sometimes will u gotta park until u can find a loaded trailer to haul. The pay is dam good to haul to Alaska. Driver's asked me if they could bring there wife's and I was like hell yeah u can. They can just have to let us now security reason. If they get in a accident we can tell the Law Enforcement (Area they are driving to or location) that it's our driver and passenger.
Hey Steve and Chris.
Yel they got me 2 miles from the shop heading out luckily i made sure all lights worked he checked me good but for a change i passed and got a new sticker he said you have done good with keeping up the truck and well you may get left along the rest of the blitz crossed 3 scales with no checking so i was a happy camper
He ain't doing any loads because he no's if Dot pulls him in they going to shut him down truck is nice and all but old truck old truck problems
Mr Personality in the dump truck
lol well he is called scrapper Mike
That has to be a huge weight off of your back Steve now you have Chris helping you out.
Good Morning Mister Fishczak. here is a Truck- driver from Germany and i have a Question for you. I saw, you cut the yellow Truck and the Ford Truck, too. Now, what s going on with this? I think, you build a new 3 axel -semi Truck - in Front a Ford-Cabin, and axel fromm the yellow Truck? is this rigt in my since? is this corekted?
..your Videos are verry interested. Nice. Please more. Good Job! Bye,bye Peter
I've been driving trucks 41 years that's what I keep saying this is it has nothing to do with safety it's about getting revenue for the states
“Safety” is key for freedom killer
55 saves lives... Remember that crock....
Happy for ya Steve, this success is well earned! Definitely not given!
Hey Steve, please don't turn into a MicroManager. LoL
I don't blame you for staying in, my company wouldn't let me but you damn well know I dodged every single scale last week
The new rules over at, I think it’s PRIME, cameras inward facing on the driver, don’t necessarily apply to shop mechanics, he don’t need to be watched 8hrs per day. Just the odd or special stuff.
PRIME INC. is a joke.
That’s what I’m saying, don’t film your employees all day. I agree, watching employees all day, you got the wrong employees if you need to do that.
@@DJPLAST2 I'm not there all the time. Besides, do you know what we agreed on? It's not like he is surprised that it's a RUclips shop too....
Watch Like and Subscribe ❤❤❤
do you know how to do a pretrip inspection? If you did them you would notice stuff like seals leaking parts broke or missing and brakes out of adjustment!
Let's see you get under my trailer without getting it up on ramps.
When are you going to resting the ramps on the back of your trailer just asking. Great videos
Why lose revenue? Won't the truck pass a standard inspection? I guess gentry shut down too?
How difficult is it to have someone else work on Orwell? You’ve taken good care of him for a long time
Not hard when you have QUALITY
Steve i think you need a bigger shop somewhere?
HOW CAN TOU BE SO IRRESPONSIBLE? Come on Steve should be checking these things more before they become a problem.
Yeah kept my butt at home during the blitz as well caught up on sleep lol I ain’t playing DOT’s games because we all know you can have a brand new truck trailer setup and if they stop you they are gonna find something to generate revenue oh I mean that needs ti be fixed for saftey
The Ford you can put a new frame underneath it and the Peterbilt which one's going to be the first one
Good evening y'all yes sir time to park um for a few days
Chris needs to put a R/R mud flap on Orwell
I may have him cut the other one off.
Hi Steve when would u replace the rusted plates on the trailer that covers the tires on the trailer it would look better thanks that’s my opinion I love ur videos keep up the good work stay safe and healthy May The Good Lord Bless u he is ur copilot ❤from ur subscriber Peter from SC
Don't forget your rear mud flap
I’ve been trucking 24 1/2 years and ive been kinda lucky I’ve slipped by for the most part.
really happy you have some help in the shop again, Nice guy and good he's truck minded to keep an eye on stuff like the brakes etc. btw, do they still re line brakes or you just have to buy new now?
Some people just have to bring money into everything law enforcement does. Those of us who have been permanently injured and disfigured by a careless operator understand, that 72 hour blitz ain't enough.
Blitz weeeekkk
Revenue week
@@Ricky-jt9xl you got that right! Funny how the diesel bears need firearms to do their jobs...
That looks like a king pin to me, not a fifth wheel.
The king pin is in the middle of the upper 5th wheel.
At least you’re busy.
Come on, man, you know better than that! :P
I ran from Wisconsin to Texas, nothing. Most scales were closed.
Lots of work. Never ending.
Please paint or some aluminum wheels on orwell
Oh no bad brakes oh no Steve not you
20:28 Orwell starts up
Blame my OCD but any plans to replace the rusted out diamond plate on trailer bump up to rear wheels?
Looks like a Cummins in that truck
Another DOT success story!
I really enjoy these kinds of videos I get better educated
That sux hopefully they don't hammer you to hard.
It's called the "Gentry and Sons" curse.
There is no such thing as a Gentry and sons curse. Both Steve and Tim work hard to put these videos out while doing their main jobs as truck company owners, drivers and mechanics.
@@SemperFortner There is such a thing.
He needs a shop air compressor
Wait, then what is that thing I have providing compressed air?
ur going 2 lose him////now ur using for ur friends
Steve, stupid question for you, where's your step deck gone? Realised it wasn't there a couple of videos ago, just thought I'd ask, keep up the great work. 🇬🇧
He has to pay the new hand somehow
I still have it. We'll be on it fairly soon.
Steve hangs on the step while in UK Spanner monkeys just hump cab over without checking inside so TV and other things come flying through windscreen Crash!
wonder what happened to the rest of the striker video??
I wonder what happened to his other two mechanics I guess if you don't pay well I guess Chris didn't do a good job checking Orville that he went got out of service
why have you left the diamond plate in front of the forward tandem rotted through ???
Because brakes are more important than a thin, not required rain shield.
Also paint those wheels on roscoes drive axles!
Blitz week was a bunch of crap. Ran across country and really not one state was participating in the so called Blitz. Guess Steve’s truck would’ve been a target though. While you guys were off should cleaned up those driver side wheels.
No. We focused on important things.
Always about revenue and not Safety. I had one go from front to rear on a creeper and then went to the front and did it a second time. The result was a ticket for 1 brake out of adjustment by 1/4 inch. I shook my head not believing this BS when he offered to go under and find something else.
Been there
Better you and Chris found problems first
Looks like you guys need your own washer and dryer there so you don't have to drag your Dirty clothes home
What caused the lining to separate from the brake shoe like that
Chineseium.
Fact is I have no idea. They were clearly not worn down or used hard. Quality of parts is a big issue nowadays.
@@fsctrucking do you know what brand they were? bendex merritor
Thought that bug at 3:53 was running down my tv screen lol
Please say no to butt crack.😂
Would you not checker plate the rear of the trailer that has rusted through ? If not for structural reasons, then for ascetics 😃
buying that torch you'd have been better buying a Plasma Cutter cuts a lot neater and more useful these days
the feds are running outta money to give to zelenskyy lmao
Don't forget the southern border!
@@bm03431 ah man, being from Venezuela myself, i honestly feel ashamed, so many low quality individuals from my country end up there and cause all kinds of issues 🤦🏽♂️
