That was one of the best, off road recoveries I have seen. Straight forward and very careful not to tear up more than what was already damaged. Tough to do on a road like that. And to Pete the Bus, stay off two tracks with rocks and stick to bladed maintained dirt roads only.

YIKES! I wonder who worked on that Bus . The tie rod did not break , it came out of the tie rod adjusting sleeve because the pinch bolts were missing! Maybe in a weird way it was a blessing that she was on that road and not on a highway at 70 mph. Eventually that tie road was going to come loose from the sleeve. Good job getting her out! She did have a good attitude for sure! I think that it is human nature to have read the videos heading and think that she must have had a really bad attitude. Goes to show us not to judge a book by its cover or a video by its caption!
Wow cant believe she went down that road! As soon as you see huge rocks everywhere something in ur head should say hmm I gotta turn around. Yes she did have a good attitude!
Yeah she really wasn’t thinking, but once on that track she’s committed, she couldn’t turn around, gotta give her some credit for building the bus then getting out and using it, a lot of people her age would be at a cafe sitting on the sidewalk, drinking a twelve dollar cup of coffee complaining about house prices.

Nice recovery. I have a shuttle bus about that size, 34 ft, RV converted. It's amazing how many places it can get through.but most of us don't consider what will happen if it breaks down. When mine had a "no start" issue camping just off a tight paved mountain road. The 20 ton wrecker needed, itself fairly long and heavy, was just barely able to navigate that narrow windy road to get to it. Add the length of the bus and there was only one way the two of us were going to get it out. He lifted my bus from the back end, with me in the driver's seat steering the front end of the bus to make it round all those curves. Facing backwards, with only my mirrors to see whats happening, no power steering. It was quite the workout, both physically and mentally, but we got it out without damage to either rig (sorry, no video of). And honestly, some of the places I'd taken it before could have become it's final resting place if this had happened there. So lesson learned, respect earned. Now everywhere I consider taking the bus, where and how I park it. I'm looking at all of it with a fresh set of eyes, a recovery point of view. Making choices that will make recovery easier, if ever needed again.
That sounds like it would have made a great video! folks don’t realize these converted units are that heavy, that they need a large medium or heavy wrecker to tow them. Thanks for the recovery story, stay classy !
A little reminiscent of my old church bus. I bought a 1959 Chevy Viking 60 with a 283 and a vacuum shift axle. Had an 8 row Carpenter coach body. I bought it in Nebraska for $400 in 1979. I drove it from Nebraska to New York to California and then to Oregon and New York and back to California and left it in Oregon in 1987. I had it on some fire roads in California and on one road had it stuck 3 times in one day. I self-extracted with a Hi-Lift jack all 3 times. In all that time I only had 2 tires fail and they were on the duallys not the steering axle.
HELLBOY saved the day again!! Amazing truck! Did u ever find out why she was on that road??! That road sure made a mess of that bus! The driver of the big wrecker needs to be commended 4 his judgement call! Excellent employee!! BESAFE

Like wash and wax all of the vehicles, vacuum and dust the office, clean the garage floors, steam clean the engines before the Mechanics work on them, pick up trash and the "pee" bottles. All new hire jobs, been there and done that too many times in 56 years. You can do it too.
Great video Wrecker Rick!!! How nice to see hellboy doing the Lord's work🤣🤣. Kudos to Hayden for not taking the wrecker any further down that goat track. Were those folks setting-up "Pete" as a moble meth lab??🤔🤔
From a 73 year old man that has worked with machinery all my life. I am VERY glad I am NOT your transmission. It has to be as hot as fire by the time you got the truck and buss back on the trailer. You NEED lower gears.
I am thinking more along the lines of more torque to the Ground. maybe Torque converter change. That motor has what it needs. The gears should be Good enough.
@@CharlieWhitewolf Why do you think the 18 wheelers have from 13 to 18 gears? If a tractor and trailer are loaded HEAVY they need to start out VERY VERY slowly. If this truck had lower gears it would not be LUGGING as much while trying to pull a heavy load.

And you didn’t even put a scratch on that bad Larry.. That’s wrecker Rick for yall folks!!
Wow, your Hellboy truck is awesome. I am sure it is great to have a situation like this to really get to show it value
Another classy Thursday nite in the archives folks 👍
It sure is
Handy little rig right there ! Good job
Dang Rick. HELLBOY is amazing 👍🏻👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻🇺🇸
Thank you sir !
I appreciated your video because; awesome job, and I was born in and grew up in Flagstaff.
Thank you!
The crab steering sure came in handy maneuvering those tight corners! I used it a lot when operating a rough terrain crane at the mine site!! 🤠👉 💨👉💨👉💨
The lady seemed nice. I liked the story about the bus, and working on it with her dad.
She was, it was a good story!
Was that hill climb in low range? Converter sounds loose..😮
No, it was in high range, found out my air switch was hooked up backwards on my range in my transfer case. Been in high range since I built the truck 😂
@@MURPHYSDIESEL If we go back and re watch the various videos on the build of Hell Boy, we might see whose fault that was. Now that it is fixed a short video showing Hellboy climbing a big, tall tree!
Ok, I can do that
@@MURPHYSDIESEL , super glad to hear… simple fix I’m pretty sure 👍🏼
I friggin love you and your channel!!! You just showed up in my feed?
I’m glad you found my channel, I hope you stick around!
You have to keep the truck driver, he saved you a lot of money and time by not getting himself in a situation when he knew better. And I'm more than impressed with Hell Boy. You made it just right for what you do. I'm Shure Casey would have called you if he saw the job 😂. You treated her like a professional Rick and didn't put a scratch on her bad Larry 😂😂.
Rick You Da Legend
Awesome Video and Recovery of Pete The Van
Have a Great Memorial Day
Thank you sir! You too!
Finally hell boy actually being used for a tow. Let's start showing Matt's offroad how it's done with weekly tows
Possible video title?: Woman has great attitude for the situation. Good job helping her out
That’s a good one! Thank you sir!
I know god didn't take over the wheel on this one...why would anyone keep going deeper and deeper down that road.... good job fellas
😂😂😂 good one!
“”It’s a short tour bus “”” well hell that sure explains a lot !!!😉😉😉
Rick that bus looks like a squatters home. Windows flapping no gas cap and busted up door. Gotta hand it to you my friend . Hell Boy is the real deal. . Maybe add a removable weight in the front like a dozer 400 lbs or so. You could store it on 5he slide axle.
Respect 100% Hell boy is an amazing machine and works hard to accomplish the task with effort, but eventually, it just happens. Hugs from a new fan from Off-Road games, my husband helped raise the flag with you at off-road games. Nice to meet you in person.
Thank you for helping at the games. Hope y’all are well!
Man I’d love the opportunity to work for Murphys, I grew up with Haydn and he’s got my dream job 😂😂
Go apply but remember to get to that dream you're a new hire and they get all the dirty jobs. Like wash and wax all of the vehicles, vacuum and dust the office, clean the garage floors, steam clean the engines before the Mechanics work on them, pick up trash and the "pee" bottles. All new hire jobs, been there and done that too many times in 56 years. You can do it too.
Impressive, you really know your stuff.
Thank you!
Text book! Couldn’t have asked for a better tool for this job.
Thanks man !
Did the passengers walk out? I was expecting to see people standing/sitting around. Gotta love Hellboy! He's one tough fellow!
Great video Wrecker Rick!!! How nice to see hellboy doing the Lord's work🤣🤣. Kudos to Hayden for not taking the wrecker any further down that goat track.
Were those folks setting-up "Pete" as a moble meth lab??🤔🤔
Thank you! 😂 I don’t think so, just a gal looking for adventure. Not a tweeker.
I was thinking that they stopped in Flagstaff to a recreational Dispensary and got some Holy Weed for the weekend adventure.
😂 there is plenty of that up there
Rick your an awesome human -kind - positive - helpful - reassuring- honest great job glad young lady had you to watch over her !
Thank you sir !
The beginnings of many tows.
Amazing truck, very well executed rescue
Thanks 👍
From a 73 year old man that has worked with machinery all my life. I am VERY glad I am NOT your transmission. It has to be as hot as fire by the time you got the truck and buss back on the trailer.
You NEED lower gears.
I am thinking more along the lines of more torque to the Ground. maybe Torque converter change. That motor has what it needs. The gears should be Good enough.
Same thing I was thinking, looked kinda smoking hot at the steep part
I agree
@@CharlieWhitewolf Why do you think the 18 wheelers have from 13 to 18 gears? If a tractor and trailer are loaded HEAVY they need to start out VERY VERY slowly. If this truck had lower gears it would not be LUGGING as much while trying to pull a heavy load.
@@davescorneroftheworld1147 I understand what your saying and I do agree. Just seemed like that rev up wasn't getting down to the ground.
