4 cups of combine(red bean, green bean, raw peanuts, short grain rice, millets, barleys, red dates, tapioca, dried longans), few rock brown sugar candy, 8-9 cups of water and slow cook until soft and tender....1 1/2 to 2 hours.
Tapioca pearls! That sounds awesome! I’m making some tomorrow for the first time ever but I had some out of a can earlier today and it was so delicious.
The dates actually seem like an awesome idea in this, I would never expect them in a dish like this.
Shaolin Temples eat this for breakfast note: make sure the Jujube is already seeded saves much time.
This is my favourite kind of Chinese porridge. I prefer without any sugar bcoz of the dates.

Actually you can subtitute these ingredients, using different types of seed, nuts, dried fruit, depending on their availability and your preference. For example, where I live, 8 treasure porrige may include: 1. sticky rice, 2. green bean, 3. red bean, 4. lotus seed, 5. raw peanut, 6. coix seed, 5. longan, 8. Goji Berries (Wolfberries)

i prefer to replace the flour with black glutinous rice.
not much longevity with all that sugar! i substitute the sugar heavy chinese recipes with honey or coconut blossom sugar,
great recipe though!
honey turns toxic when heated
lol, I had this only a couple time in my lifetime, this is actually classified as a dessert, hence the sugar
I use palm sugar to cook my Chinese or Vietnamese porridge desserts all the time
Peanuts are not happening for me
they are gross lol
